Though I would be curious what would win the Most Anticipated award. All of those seem really promising.

I would definitely vote for Uncharted 4 for game of the year. Nice list of fighting games there, but I would go with KOF14. Fire Emblem Fates for best strategy, and Red Dead 2 for most anticipated game.

Random notes:

• Overwatch for art direction is a must
• SFV hands down for fighting game if they actually focus on the game mechanics and not the business model/media narrative. Realistically, It will also be the only fighting game on that list that the FGC will still be actively playing next year. Also: no Guilty Gear? I would pick that as THE fighting game this year.
• The RPG section makes me sad...I'd vote an expansion out of those. DS is its own thing by now imho.
• Strategic: Fire Emblem Fates actually let me down a little. I shelled out for the limited edition (only way to get the full game on a physical format) and played 200+ hours of that and ...it just felt bloated in the end. Awakening was a nearly perfect game imho. So XCOM 2 gets my cheer, even if I am just watching my brother play it.
• Pokemon Go doesn't really feel like a "family" game to me, you need to have your own smartphone and limitless data traffic to enjoy it...so pfff. App of the year of best mobile game sound way more appropriate.
• Most anticipated and delayed: Zelda.

@Mega-Gazz Dark Souls 3 is a fun game, but I feel it is missing something essential that previous DS games including Bloodborne had. I found the encounters and story a lot less memorable.

Surprised that Blazblue or Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator weren't nominated as best fighting games. Also, no Persona 5 for most anticipated game?

Also, I laughed when I saw Pokemon Go nominated. Personally, the app was very disappointing. I would rather go and buy Pokemon Sun/Moon.

@Mega-Gazz While Dark Souls 3 is a great game, there were still a few Souls fans that were disappointed with the game. The bosses aren't bad but I prefer Dark Souls and Bloodborne's bosses. The PvP is more broken than Dark Souls 2's due to the OP attacks and the lack of poise. There were also other few criticism from fans like the areas are not as fully connected, the new Anor Londo isn't as memorable as the old nostalgic Anor Londo, the DLC wasn't that perfect (sure, it is $5 dollars less than the Old Hunters dlc but remember that Dark Souls 2's DLCs costed $10 and even those offered a bit more content), etc.

It's a shame that Deus Ex is only nominated in one category, i enjoyed it more than I did Uncharted 4. And Sam Drake was quite a forgettable character I thought, even with the mighty Troy Baker voicing him.

Blood & Wine beats them all for me anyway.

personally speaking, i've found it to be a rather mediocre year. from the nominees, i'd pick.

What weak year! 2017 will be amazing, but 2016 left a bad taste.

Have to agree with you there, Souls / BB combat is definitely always the best game play.

Best Independent Game, most difficult pick for me. I really liked HLD and Firewatch, but I gotta give it to The Witness. Maybe I liked HLD more as an action game than Uncharted 4 though.. Difficult choices..

Glad that Elena from U4 and Delilah from Firewatch both got a nod. They make those games somewhat what they are. Great performances.

@Frank90 Hey, atleast this year wasn't as bad as 2014.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Forza Horizon 3 and Gears of War 4 all were more enjoyable than the games listed for overall Game of the Year but of the ones on that list, I'd say Uncharted 4 is expected to win but all are legit. Inside was a really nice surprise, expected it to be good but it was much more than just that.

I love me some Naughty Dog and Uncharted 4 but would give Best Narrative to Mafia 3. I know Mafia 3 did a lot of things wrong but the story was outstanding.

Snooze goty, alright the campaigns for 2 shooters are supposed to be good. Dump doom titanfall and overwatch, slip in battlefield, modern warfare, dark souls III and maybe dishonored.
