Awards season is upon us, and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End is favourite to take home a gong or two. Well, it's already picked up its first at the Golden Joysticks, where it won the Best PlayStation Game gong. There were no other prizes for Naughty Dog on the night, however, as Dark Souls III took home the Ultimate Game of the Year pot, while Titanfall 2 was the critics' top pick.
Overwatch was arguably the biggest winner of the evening, however, collecting five pots in total: Best Original Game, Best Multiplayer Game, Best Gaming Moment, Competitive Game of the Year, and PC Game of the Year. We've included the full list of winners below – do let us know in the comments section whether or not you agree.

Is "ultimate GOTY" just the most broad GOTY?
@Mega-Gazz Yes.
I was very surprised by the voting in a lot of ways but then as its mostly down to public decisions and therefore based on which games people own/played rather than actually comparing and contrasting the nominations, I hold no credence to the Golden Joysticks. I don't know who decides which games should be nominated!
That being said, its no surprise to see the OPM vote go to Uncharted 4. I am sure my OXM vote would of gone to Rise of the Tomb Raider too as that was one of my favourite games of 2015.
Will be interesting to see the Game Awards at the end of the year - Kojima is getting an 'icon' award which after last year with Konami banning him from attending could make for an interesting build up and speech....
@get2sammyb thanks. Then they chose.... wisely.
Uncharted winning Playstation game of the year is no surprise and I'd kind of agree although Rise of the Tomb Raider is a very close second. For me Dishonoured 2 is getting seriously close to my GOTY the further I get into it with some truly wonderful level design and the creative freedom you have to tackle the game.
Good to see The Witcher getting some more love and I really need to finish the dlc, though personally I would have gone for one of the Drake brothers as performance of the year and the less said about the ridiculous notion that a certain 'game' (if it even qualifies) is the best handheld or innovative game the better.
i still find it strange that they hold award ceremonies BEFORE the year has ended
some big games haven't been released yet such as The Last Guardian or Final Fantasy XV and so they miss the list
also how does Rise of the Tomb Raider get XBOX game of the year 2016 when it came out last year on that system, surly as a 2015 release it SHOULDN'T qualify
Where's Mafia III? That was my GOTY. Gameplay is way stronger than Uncharted 4 imho!
Studio of the Year: CD Projekt Red
For a dlc release they win Studio of the year?
@themcnoisy - That DLC was better than most full games.
@Splat Exactly, than MOST (but not all) full games, I like CDPR, I'm defo buying their next game at release. But studio of the year? Come on.
I havnt played Firewatch, but I noticed Inside was on the list, and expected that to win. Now I havnt played Inside ether but I think of it as being the better game, no?
U4 was not that darn good
Steam won Platform of the Year? How does that work? It's not even the best online PC Store...
(They've really smartened up Kings Cross recently, think that deserves recognition)
I liked Uncharted 4 and thought the game looked good. But I downgraded my view of the game from a 10 to an 8. I played it once and have had not desire to pick it up again.
Steam as a platform for games puts Sony to shame. I get about double the download speed from Steam compared to PSN.
UC4 is my GOTY every other major release of the year left me disappointed to some extent. In this day and age were games are announced years in advance it is very difficult to deliver and meet gamers expectations- Naughty Dog did it. Well deserved. Shame there wasn't any love for Ratchet & Clank.
Also looks kind of bad for Xbox that their GOTY for 2016 is one from 2015...
So what happens with FFXV/Last Guardian? They'd be included in the 2017 awards?
Seems like this ceremony should take place in January
@AyanamiReign
Yeah, they'll be eligible for next year. If they hold the awards any later, how will grandma know which are the games to buy for little billy and bilhemena at Xmas? 🤣
@FullbringIchigo you answered your own question, Tomb Raider got it this year because Golden Joystick holds its awards so early in the year that it missed the game last time, same with Fallout 4. I agree, kinda stupid that they don't wait until January or I'd go February to ensure the choices are spot on, but eh, most people don't pay attention to this stuff anyway.
CD Projekt Red getting some well deserved love.
Overwatch got a lot of love! Pretty much all deserved, though. The Golden Joysticks is very odd. The fact that the trophies are doled out based on public votes can make for some interesting choices. As @BAMozzy says, most voters will simply vote for their favourites and not necessarily the most deserving game.
Still, it's cool to get an overview of how gamers see the year. Turns out it's just, "OVERWATCH"
P.S. The Witness was robbed of the Indie Game award.
Uncharted 4 is a good choice, it's also obvious. My vote would've gone to either Deus Ex: Mankind Divided or Ratchet & Clank though. Did a few playthroughs of Deus Ex, which is something I rarely do with RPGs, and I must've played through R&C at least 10 times now, that game is f**king awesome and may be the nicest looking console game.
