There are times in this industry where the press junket building up to a release is overblown – just take a look at The Last Guardian and Final Fantasy XV, for example – but NBA 2KVR Experience has gone in the opposite direction. Leaked on Trophy websites over the weekend, the 2K Sports published spin-off is out today – but is it any good?

Well, it's more or less what you'd expect, really. A minigame compilation based upon the popular basketball simulation, the title sees you tossing balls through hoops in a series of solo or multiplayer trick shot or time attack challenges. You aim with your head and shoot with the DualShock 4 controller, which works nicely – but it's a shame there's no PlayStation Move support.

The big problem with this, as is the case with so many PlayStation VR games at the moment, is that it isn't really worth the price of admission. The presentation's really strong here, and the concept's well executed, but at £11.99 in the UK, it doesn't really feel like value for money. A nice idea that drops the ball on the commercial side, then – a bit of a shame.
