Trailers were in no short supply during Sony's PlayStation Experience 2016 showcase, but we thought that we'd pick out our five favourites all the same. The videos that we've chosen all have a certain quality to them - we feel that they're all genuinely well made clips, and we didn't want to just include trailers for their hype factor alone. For that reason, the likes of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy didn't make the cut purely because we're not massive fans of the trailer itself - even if we can't wait to play the game.
With the introduction out of the way, let's get down to it. These are the five best trailers of PSX 2016.
5. WipEout: Omega Collection - Announcement Trailer
You've got to love a good electronic beat, and as you'd expect, WipEout: Omega Collection's announcement trailer has just that. It's also got speed, flair, and it doesn't overstay its welcome. As far as trailers for remasters go, this is probably one of the best that we've seen - it sticks to the necessities and shoots ahead with some great gameplay footage.
4. Vane - Announcement Trailer
Atmospheric and interesting, Vane's reveal trailer makes a good first impression - and the music isn't bad either. Admittedly, this looks like a project that could go either way, but we're loving the dusty setting and mysterious undertones.
3. Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom - Gameplay Trailer
The first Ni no Kuni is already picture perfect, but Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom looks downright stunning. Its new gameplay trailer highlights this as well, showcasing a slew of glorious environments and a cast of instantly charming characters. It's not the longest video, but we reckon that it gets the message across extremely well; this is a role-playing adventure that's deserving of your attention.
2. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy - Announcement Trailer
Okay, so this one's a bit of a gameplay demo, but it still serves its purpose as an intriguing and tense announcement trailer. Not quite the Uncharted 4 expansion that many thought it would be, the wait was worth it just to see Chloe show her face at the end. We've missed her!
1. The Last of Us: Part II - Announcement Trailer
What else was going to be number one? Capping off Sony's show in tremendous style, the crowd went mad when they saw that Firefly marking. As we've come to expect of Naughty Dog, this is an incredibly looking trailer that sets things up perfectly. The double whammy of seeing both Ellie and Joel makes this an immediately memorable moment in PlayStation history; this is how you announce a sequel.

It's got to be the TLoU2 one, hasn't it? A shout out to Death Stranding, though!
They were all top notch(even the crash one!)...still Rain World for me personally though. The last of us part 2 trailer was incredible, goosebumps when ellie was playing the song
Well this is a no brainer..
The Last of Us trailer was so incredibly well done. And as good as the first one looked on PS3, I can't wait to see how incredible this game looks built for this gen. And on PS4 Pro? Yes please
TLOU2 for sure. Horizon's trailer was pretty bad. Vane was neat too, but a bit on the short side. Uncharted was more a gameplay segment than anything else, not really sure if I'd call that a trailer.
I really liked the Edith Finch trailer as well. Very intriguing.
Wipeout, playing this on 4k tv will be soo good..
@get2sammyb Forgot about that one! TBF, I thought that game already came out last year or something, maybe I'll give it a try when it comes out next year.
No persona 5? I mean, that trailer was pretty good! At least a mention on the voting list would be nice 😂
The Last of Us Part II wins this one. All a teaser has to do is get people hyped and this trailer did just that.
@BranJ0 Tried to keep the list focused on just trailers that were shown during the press conference, but I agree, Persona 5's was pretty good.
@ShogunRok Ah that's fair enough, sorry, I misunderstood the list!
nino kuni .word up son
I feel bad for the other games, because even if you don't like The Last of Us, you can't deny is was an incredible, incredible trailer. If I was voting for second best though I'd definitely go for Ni No Kuni II - looks incredible. As a fairly late PS3 adopter I haven't played the original and am torn between picking it up now or waiting for a PS4 re-release...any rumours or rumblings, Push Square?
I couldn't vote because there are TO MANY I LOVED + Vane's art style is LOVELY I like the look of that game + I can't wait to play Crash again(and even more now I just started Uncharted 4 and THAT AMAZING bit in it with...well I won't say. I don't want to spoil it for people who haven't played it yet. What an AMAZING Game so far it is)
I voted for the Last of Us 2 although I do think Uncharted 4 could have been my top choice as it had more action in it but then the Last of Us trailer had more atmosphere and drama to it - It was a close decision.
Horizon:ZD, despite the lack of substance, was quite interesting too showing off a few new mechanical beasts as well as some new environments. This close to release, I am glad they are not revealing too much but it did lack some of the punch of previous trailers. Wasn't this the only game to be shown at E3 and PSX? It seemed like a token trailer as its Sony's next big release but the main 'trailer' was at E3.
I admit I expected Crash to look better - I know I watched it on a stream on my 55" 4k TV which probably made the quality look a bit worse blowing it up that big, but I still felt the game wasn't as impressive as Ratchet and Clank for example.
I am surprised Nioh wasn't mentioned, I thought the trailer looked quite impressive. I am not a fan of Japanese games (as I am sure some are aware by now) but that was one that actually looked like I could buy. The fact that 'Witcher 3' comparisons were made - not just because he bares a striking resemblance to Geralt - says a lot too.
Wipeout, Ace Combat, GT Sport etc were, I thought, very generic for those titles - nothing wrong with that I guess. If you were to describe what you expected these trailers to show before they were revealed, then you would certainly of described these trailers.
The Last of Us, Uncharted, and the new Horizon trailer for me.
For my personal preferences, the rest was forgettable.
