Activision's on a one-way mission to stop you from spending money on some of its bad licensed games. Nah, that's not entirely accurate – its licenses have run out and so it's pulling projects wholesale off the PlayStation Store. Platinum Games' dire Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants in Manhattan is now unavailable from Sony's virtual shop, while Beenox's two The Amazing Spider-Man releases are gone, too.
While we doubt many of you have been clamouring for these games, this does highlight a problem with digital storefronts. Indeed, the ephemeral nature of these outlets mean that, one day, everything that you've purchased could just… Disappear in the blink of an eye. And that, honestly, is a scary prospect. Does it outweigh the convenience that can be had when buying from the PlayStation Store, though? Probably not.

If tou purchased this games and delere them can you redownload them?
@AlejandroMora nope not if it's no longer on the service, just like P.T
it's one of the reasons digital will NEVER replace physical unless it's forced on us
@AlejandroMora Yes you can.
@FullbringIchigo P.T. is the only example of games getting pulled entirely that I can remember. Stuff like Outrun got removed for purchase, but still could be downloaded.
This is the reason I have had to buy so many over priced vita memory cards. Virtua tennis got pulled from psn and trawling through over 2000 items on my download list was a real pain. Sony need to make it much easier to search /filter purchases on ps3/vita.
Fear of titles being permanently removed from psn means I always keep far more things downloaded than I would like across formats
But digital is the F U T U R E
I'm actually glad to read this this morning as when I read about it yesterday on NL I thought it was just a Wii U thing. Misery loves company.
When things like this happen they really should give advanced notice for people who were maybe on the fence. Seems stupid not too.
Nice. Gonna hafta put my ps4 with TMNT and P.T. on ebay and put my kid through collage.
Providing you can still download them from your library it's no different to a product being discontinued in the shops (well, I guess you can still pick it up physical second hand in that instance!). I'm guessing boxes copies of these games will no longer be made either?
Although it wouldn't be the first time an agreement lapses and is then renewed only for content to come back online.
I do like to buy my smaller games digitally but there are too many reasons not to bother ditching physical, in general. Of course, physical will still die a death before too long.
@rjejr Yeah, I actually agree with you for once!
Just tell people they're being removed, maybe offer a discount, and give people who want to buy it the chance to do so.
I wanted TMNT!
Love Activision for not giving advance warning!
There should be a 30 day notice if something is leaving the digital store!
@Gold_Ranger This is your finally warning, please mind the language -Tasuki-

You're welcome
Doesn't help.
I'm in the USA.
Thanks though.
Also, I hate amazon.
The Fat Princess game on Vita was pulled from both the marketplace and your library. So it does happen to more then just P.T.
I'm not really worried that games of today and of the past 5 years are in any danger of simply ceasing to exist. Eventually we'll end up streaming everything anyways. Not a future I'm looking forward to, but it seems to be where everything is headed.
And this is another reason why physical games and the 2nd hand market NEEDS to exist. The industry has a huge problem with keeping old games playable.
I actually wanted the Spider Man games...never got myself to actually buy them -.-
Stuff like this is why I don't like digital. I wasn't interested in these, but I was interested in Marvel VS. Capcom 2 and wanted to get DLC for Scott Pilgrim, but you can't because they were delisted for the same reasons years ago.
Spiderman makes sense since Sony is coming out with a new game and new movie. Ninja Turtles didn't know about. Hopefully this means the next dev who gets the TMNT rights will do a good game. Ah who am I kidding.
@FullbringIchigo P.T. was the exception. I have redownloaded dozens of games on the Xbox 360, Wii, that were pulled and I bought before hand. It's one of the reasons I won't get rid of my Xbox 360 cause it has both TMNT games and The Simpsons Arcade game on it.
Maybe it'll just be the naff games that disappear? I've still got a crazy PC/steam/PS3/ps vita/3DS backlog consisting of hundreds of titles. It's got to the point where I don't care or want to replay retro things from over 6 years ago. Too many new things to try and play! Losing a dozen or so games won't keep me awake at night. Plus multiplayer online games steal so much time from other releases.
I was actually planning on picking up Spider Man 2 at some stage, ah well!
@itshoggie You can still buy it physically.
Digital, hahaha.
@hadlee73 I think that will depend on Nickelodeon who owns the TMNT rights.
@get2sammyb This is why I still prefer owning games physically, even if the digital versions do load and run faster/smoother.
Eh. The physical vs digital comparison just isn't that interesting to me anymore. Modern video games are so reliant on patches, updates, etc. that even if you do own a game physically it still, more than likely, won't perform well without accessing Sony's servers. And if you can access Sony's servers, then you can likely also redownload a digital version of a game.
The biggest issue with digital for me is the inability to trade or sell games when you're done with them.
@Tasuki The Simpsons Arcade game is one of those games that you can't download anymore, even if you purchased it back then. P.T. and Simpsons are just few of many.
