To be honest, we're still a little bitter that the promising Lily Bergamo got cancelled in favour of free-to-play foray Let It Die – but all credit to Grasshopper Manufacture, the game turned out alright. And it's actually doing quite well for itself, with the critical response being decent, and downloads now topping one million.
To reward the milestone, you'll be able to earn one in-game Death Metal if you login between 6th January and 8th January – a great incentive to lure you back in to the skateboarding skeleton fold. Impressively, the game doesn't launch in its native Japan until next month, so those download figures are likely to bloat all over again in a few weeks.

How to do microtransactions well! Fairplay.
Just read Mario Run has managed 90 million. Christ.
@kyleforrester87 Mario run has been downloaded 90 million but only 3 million buy the full game. I have it on my ipad but I don't want to buy the full version at $10.
It's weird. I need to play more of it, but the combat is off-putting.
Downloaded it and deleted it pretty soon afterwards. Not terrible, just not for me. The only Suda 51 games I really like are No More Heroes 1 and 2. Good if the majority who downloaded this are enjoying it though I hope one day we get an NMH 3.
Not sure how good this is. Destiny of Spirits (psvita) was also downloaded 1m times, but soon after that, it was shut down by Sony.
Here's hoping Let it Die is doing better than that.
After seeing the lets play of the game now I want to try it, seems interesting.
I was really enjoying this game a lot and was intending on playing this game for months to come until they revealed the cost of the express pass as £14.99 per month. Not only is that way too high but it's also 25% more expensive in the UK than other countries like the US. So I don't play anymore.
I haven't downloaded but I want to but I don't want to be forced into buying microtransactions.
Hands down the best free-to-play game on PS4 IMO. That said you have to put in some time to really get a feel for it. It's one of the few free-to-play games that I feel like you don't have to spend a dime to progress.
@naruball I guess it depends how many people are spending money on it. Seems to have already garnered quite a cult fan base so I imagine it's doing okay.
I didnt like it at all, the combat blows, and graphics suck
