Y'know, the more we see of it, the more we think Nioh's got a really nice art style. Koei Tecmo's action role-playing game puts players in the shoes of William, who arrives in feudal Japan at a time when a lot of blood was being spilled in the name of unification. In Nioh's alternate history, the bloodshed has given rise to spirits - some of which are happy to try and tear Will limb from limb, and there are plenty of these supernatural beings present in the screenshots that we've embedded.
Some of the most famous samurai of the time also put in an appearance. You can spy both Tadakatsu Honda and Naomasa Ii in the shots - two especially revered warriors who helped Ieyasu Tokugawa unite Japan in the 1600s. If you're into Japanese history, you'll more than likely get a kick out of seeing how Nioh handles things.
History lessons aside, the game's looking great. We're loving the enemy designs, and if the combat can hold up across the whole release, we reckon the PlayStation 4's got a bit of a darling on its hands. Nioh's due out next month, on the 9th February.

I hope it turns out as great as it looks.
Is this basically Dark Souls with Samurai's?
If so I'm in! (as long as it scores well enough that is!)
Hatori Hanzo is also in it!
@Dodoo Yes... and being souls-related, VaatiVidya has a video on it
@Mega-Gazz Cool thanks man I'll check the vid out
What I play of the Beta was brilliant it's a day one for me that's for sure.
People always compare this to Dark Souls, but to me it feels just like it's basically Onimusha 5. Set in the Sengoku time period, features historical characters, you kill demons and other monsters and adsorb souls to get stronger by spending the souls at shrines. That's Onimusha for you.
