Remember that fun little montage PlayStation Europe made to promote upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusives? It got people in a right tiswas over the New Year break. In addition to a couple of incorrect 'Console Exclusive' tags – innocent mistakes, we're sure – many picked up on the fact that both Detroit: Become Human and Dreams were included in the clip, seemingly signalling 2017 release dates.
But Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida has rained on that parade, declaring their inclusion an error on Twitter. To be fair, both games could still deploy at some point this year, but Sony has said that it will no longer date titles until its 100 per cent sure they can be delivered without a delay. We're already seeing that tactic in practice: out of all of the titles the platform holder has revealed, only Gravity Rush 2 and Horizon: Zero Dawn have dates.

It seems not much thought went into creating that trailer...
What tags were incorrect?
I really want to try Dreams hoping to get a date for beta in next few months.
Don't see it been a success but I do like the idea around it
@Dodoo It was just a hype video. NeoGAF spent the entire Christmas break picking it apart.
I dunno. It's important to make sure things are accurate, but at some point you have to analyse your life and ask yourself what you're doing if you're dissecting a dumb montage put out just to pad the Christmas break.
My backlog is so big that my reaction to this kind of thing is "whatever, it will launch eventually". Couldn't care less about exlcusivity either.
@get2sammyb haha true. Very true!
Shame about Detroit but like someone's already mentioned,it will release eventually but in the meantime which one of my two dozen games shall I start..?
I just do not get dreams... Is there a campaign?
Dreams is the new TLG, it will probably become a PSVR game on PS5.
I do give the guy credit for saying no dates until 100% sure. I don't believe him, but it at least shows he is aware of the problem and is trying to correct it. The industry is too fixated on getting all games out in October or November, leading to a majority of the delays. When you pick an arbitrary deadline of course it's going to get delayed.
I wouldn't mind seeing games get dated first with a year, then a season, then a day. I'm OK w/ GoW and TLoU2 not having years yet. Let them make the game right, just don't get my hopes up prematurely. At least Sony fans know they'll probably get the game eventually, owning a Wii U has been tough.
@rjejr I think that is a great idea - only announce a year and seasons/dates when you can hit them. Personally, I think that can only increase hype on a game - look at Fallout 4. Announced at E3, released within 6 months, sold shed loads because there was no time for the hype bubble to burst.
@Sanquine There will be yes, I suspect we will get a beta of it at least this year. I think the problem will be how it's released.
This game will be like The lst Guardian keep giving snipets of info then delayed year after year. I predict a PS5 console release.
Also do not announce a game until its nearly ready for release.
Dreams I'm curious about, but Detroit can take it's sweet time. I'm in no hurry to touch it and God knows it needs it.
These days release dates mean nothing anyway, really hope Dreams is released this year it's something completely different to the norm.
Well, fortunately Gravity Rush 2, Horizon: Zero Dawn, MLB The Show 17 (if you're a baseball fan) and Gran Turismo Sport seem like a good 2017. I'm not sure I'd expect anything else other than those games unless Santa Monica gets God of War done sooner than anticipated, it would be nice to see that be the big holiday game for this year but not counting on it. There is Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, not a full game but should be a nice story expansion for fans of the series like many of us here.
At least we know 2018 will have some good stuff. Spider-Man, God of War, Days Gone, Detroit, Dreams, MLB The Show once again... A few of those should end up being great. The Last of Us Part II is probably 2019.
