We're genuinely in the midst of PlayStation 4 heaven right now, as January has seen the console amass one of the strongest selections of games that we've seen since the system launched. That means you're no doubt playing something new this week, and we want to know what. Yakuza 0? Gravity Rush 2? Resident Evil 7? You know the drill.

Sadly, I haven't received my copy of Yakuza 0 yet as the series' sudden sharp rise in popularity means that Amazon sold out. I feel a little bit like when your favourite underground band suddenly secures a Top 10 hit. Fortunately, I've got plenty in my backlog, so I'll probably continue working my way through that.

I've really surprised myself this week by managing to play Resident Evil 7 without getting so scared I have to stop playing. With this new found bravery I'll be battling the Baker clan over the weekend with ample breaks to knock out fools in Yakuza 0.

I put on Grand Theft Auto V for the first time in a few years the other night just to have a bit of fun but I was instantly hooked once again. It's unlikely I'll play anything else all weekend now. There's just so much to do. It's also helping me build up some excitement for Red Dead Redemption 2's release later this year.

I'll be fighting off the Molded, hiding from the Bakers, and still being shocked that Resident Evil is great again.

Yakuza 0 is one of those games that seemed better every time I saw it. Between glowing reviews, endorsements from friends, and my own sheer curiosity, I just had to pick it up. I'll be playing my first Yakuza game this weekend, then, and I already love its crunchy combat and absurd humour.

Just when I think I can take a break from Overwatch, another event begins with new skins. So I will be playing that and hopefully wrapping up Batman: The Telltale Series. Also, I'm hoping that I get in the For Honor beta.
What are you playing this weekend, then? Any mentions for Kingdom Hearts or Tales of Berseria β both of which have been overlooked by our staff! Let us know in the comments section below.

Final hours of Witcher 3. Got both DLC downloaded and ready.
All about Gravity Rush 2 for me.
Resi 7! What a game. About half way through. Might finish it up this weekend.
Resident Evil 7 here as well. I also saw Star Ocean 5 (Limited Edition) for just Β£15.99 on Amazon where it's usually nearly twice that much so I snapped that up and have also been playing that.
I'm still slowly getting through FFXV. I wish I could send a message to my past self that says "Do not bother with the sidequests!" because after about 35 hours of playing I was only in Chapter 3. I had no investment in the story, characters or world. Now I'm in, what, Chapter 6 or something? I still don't have much investment in any of those things, to be honest.
In my memory, FFXV is me running through a forest at 20fps looking for a small glowing point on the ground so I can click on it and then drive back to a generic NPC 10 miles away and give him some random trash. Pushing forward a bit further and ignoring the sidequests has introduced some much needed antagonists but I still couldn't give a toss about the story (city you've never been in has been taken over by people you've never met... then you drive a lot) or the setting, to be honest.
@Matroska Yeah, for all the moaning people have about the later chapters in FF15 I found those to be when the story really comes alive. Chapters 4-8 or whatever are just a bit of a blur and I didn't know what I was doing or why half the time.
@kyleforrester87 I recently got past the chainsaw fight. Man, that was annoying. My fault really, but I didn't think you could block and I got pretty far by just flukily parrying his weapon with the chainsaw. Then my luck ran out and my hands and head fell off. Did it on my 3rd try.
But damn, that whole basement area is horrible. I just engaged the old RE1-3 "skills" and ran past everything. Now I've passed the Cerberus door and have stopped at the next save room. Not sure how far through that is but it's already been quite the ordeal.
As for the FFXV thing: Yeah, I'm looking forward to more focus. I like a lot about it but the core JRPG experience of getting emotionally invested in things has been largely absent. I'm also not loving the lack of other JRPG elements like more in-depth character customisation. We just get this pretty bland, Skyrim-like set of perk trees. Magic is this awkward, tacked-on thing. And man, 40-50 hours in and all I know about, say, Ignis is that he is an intellectual cook who nags Noct a lot. That should be just the basics within the first half an hour or so.
I will mostly play Yakuza0. I just started chapter 12 and still love it.
Other than that I will spend a bit of tim with Overwatch hoping for Mei's skin and Gravity Rush Remaster. I saw that in NA retail copies can reach 200$ so I tracked down and got what was probably one of the last copies at Athens just to be sure I will get it on normal price.
For me it'll be Yakuza 0 with a healthy dose of Killing Floor 2. My physical copy of Hitman also dropped through the letterbox this morning so I'll probably jump into that for a bit, and I may add in a bit of Overwatch, depending on when the new event ends.
@Melucine I thought that sounded weird so I checked Amazon.com and, wow, there's a copy of Gravity Rush Remastered going for $999.99. I mean, no one will buy that but it's still weird as hell to even see it. I checked Amazon UK and it's going for Β£150 (probably about $170) which is also ridiculous.
You can get it preowned from a place like CeX for Β£20. I had no idea it was that rare new or that it was considered such a collectible. It actually had pretty poor sales (or "very modest" if you want to be nice).
I want to finish up The Last Guardian today. I think I'm on the last part of the game. I just got out of the hospital and still don't feel really well enough to do anything though.
@Matroska Price skyrocketed in a day, as soon as Amazon announced that they will sell no more, so since I did want to get it some day, i tried to find it the very next day to avoid something similar for a EU copy.
@Matroska Haha yeah that fight was all a bit Benny Hill for me, I just ran around the central collumn. Totally agree regarding FF15, despite the faults you mentioned though I do love it but my advice given you seem to feel the same way about it as I did would be mainline the story and ignore the side stuff. You can always come back and do that if you're inclined.
Attempting to finish the witness.
PS4: Gravity Rush 2, Transistor, Digimon World Next Order
PSVR: RESIDENT EVIL 7!!!
PSVita: Persona 3 Portable
Approaching the end of Transistor. Great game, love the soundtrack & the combat is surprisingly deep.
Gravity Rush 2 is fantastic. Taking it slow and doing everything as I wait for a trophy guide to pop up. Would love a Platinum in this one.
Sunday will be dedicated to Digimon World.
Resident Evil 7 in VR is awesome. Just so good. Been playing an hour a day. It looks like I've successfully build up my VR tolerance. No longer feel queasy when running or going up/down.
I'll be knackering myself out watering all my crops in Stardew Valley and collecting gold bricks in the excellent Lego Star Wars TFA for a platinum.
Yakuza 0 mostly. Also some Battleborn, which I picked up from the PSN sales and maybe some Stardew Valley.
After finally finishing Dragon Quest Builders and putting 77 hours into it which could be more if I go back and play the free mode too,I have started Watch Dogs 2 which I am enjoying alot and surprisingly I'm liking the cast far more than I ever thought I would.
Unlike all the other lucky gits playing Resi VR I'm going to have to give O My Genesis a go instead which I bought for about Β£2 so not holding out much hope it's any good..at least I won't need a new pair of underpants playing it though.
Studying unfortunately
But at night I'll play a bit of OW and Yakuza 0!
With Mafia 3 out of the way, I finally made a start with FFXV. First 2 hours were fun, but with closed beta of For Honor I have to divide my attention a bit. But yeah, can't complain ^^ Sadly, I've to work this weekend and try to play both as much as possible. Early next week I'll put in some good amount of hours into FFXV.
Im trying to get over FFXVs ending atm... might play some pokemon to cheer me upπ
Sticking to my new years resolution and going through backlog. Next up is either Unravel or Soma or Stories. Might also do some psvr playing
I am hoping to finish off Broforce and I have also jut bought a DS lite but need a bit of advice on which games I should buy.
@Dohv Hope you get better soon.
Last of Us remastered. Why I never played this earlier us beyond me. Awsome game so far. And Bravely Second when i get sleepy.
@spakai - The Witcher 3 DLC is top notch. You are in for a treat.
Still playing The Witcher 3. Currently on Blood & Wine.
I will be on the PS4 this weekend. Yakuza 0, The Last of Us, King of Fighters 14, Skullgirls, and Street Fighter V. For 3DS, just Pokemon Moon and Animal Crossing.
Yakuza Zero and Resident Evil VII.
I'm currently playing Forza Horizon 3 and I may get a bit more time on DOOM but I think that's unlikely.
My eyes are still not working right - so I'm playing Broken Age since it's a little slower paced. Liking it so far! Different enough from what I usually play.
My copy of final fantasy xv will arrive monday from Amazon! Can't wait! π until then i'll keep playing valkyria chronicles remastered, i'm hooked it's one of those games that i tought it would be "just fine" and totally blew me away! π
Oh, I'm also still working my way through the Ace Attorney series again. I still haven't started the newest one but I recently completed Duel Destinies. I'm now about halfway through the original and will be working through the rest of the original trilogy on the 3DS release. This is one of the series that might actually tempt me to get a Switch if they don't also release the next game on 3DS. Well, it would take some other games I want along with it, as well. Maybe some exclusive JRPGs.
To bring it back to Sony, I really like Danganronpa but to me it just doesn't compare to Ace Attorney. It's all well and good being wacky and zany but I don't care about the characters anywhere near as much as I do with the more grounded and charming Ace Attorney ones.
Hydro Thunder Hurricane, Dragon Quest Heroes 2, Destiny, Slain: Back From Hell and some original Grid.
Finished Metro: 2033 on Friday as part of my backlog clear out plan for the year (good game that's cheaper than chips these days) so I've started playing through COD : Infinite Warfares campaign which has been good so far, I've also started a Death March save on Witcher 3 so I might play through a bit of that as well
@LobsterJohnson The World Ends With You is a great game. Dragon Quest 9 is also fantastic.
I think I'm going to start The Last of Us this weekend. I've heard really good things about this game, even outside the gaming channels (NPR did an article about the story behind this game).
Still playing Future Tone. This weekend I will finally play all songs. Slump is my favourite on the whole game.
I will also keep working towards the plat on Lego Star Wars Ep. 7
@spakai aren't there 3 dlc releases?
MGSV , just beat Quiet. Am now at 8% completion after 3 weeks playing this and nothing else . My resolution was to avoid Battlefield and online shooters which I love but ultimately stop me ever finishing games.
My wife is playing and very much enjoying Dishonoured 1 .
I've been playing the For Honor beta for around 6 hours, and I have to say I am really enjoying the gameplay. Was always something I was interested in but never really thought they would deliver with the combat. It seems pretty easy to pick up on with the combat for newcomers and more casual gamers but also seems like it has depth to it once you learn how to use each class etc. Just hoping there's a few more game modes to come, not one to pre-order usually but really impressed with what I've played so going to get on that! Only negative really is that you have to always be connected to internet even to play the campaign and seems a lack of different game modes etc but I'm not sure it is a beta, ik the gameplay is enough to pre-order atleast, wasn't even planning on picking this up until it was cheap. Good job I got in the beta for Ubisoft!
Painting doors today... π
Got my Star Wars Destiny Starters and two boosters arriving tomorrow. Bala-Tik in one pack and Jango Fett in the other I hope! π
@Gold_Ranger quite sure there are two storyline dlcs - heart of stone, blood and wine.
Finishing resident evil7 and a little tlou multi player
Thinking about Inside too
Dieing a lot in ds3, probably trying to beat orphan in bloodborne man that guy has given me a fit, and ffxv
Finally wrapped up the Tomb Raider reboot. What a nuts ending, but I really loved the gameplay and upgrade system. Started On Rise of the Tomb Raider. They really expanded the systems and refined the controls. I'm looking forward to playing it all weekend.
I've been playing some more Yakuza 0 and yesterday I gave in and bought Resident Evil 7 and then proceeded to scare myself in the quite excellent opening half an hour or so
3DS - Dragon Quest VIII
PS4 - Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and Gravity Rush 2
@Fight_Teza_Fight You have the best mix of gaming this weekend!
Ill be Streaming Gravity Rush 2 with crazy party chat commentary from friends
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Took me a while to get into it but after a short break, I'm 'aug' for it....sorry.
@carlos82 I'm trying to figure out if Yakoza is for me - is it like Sleeping Dogs, as I didn't really get on with that.
@kyleforrester87 it's a tricky one to compare, I wouldn't say it was like Sleeping Dogs. It more closely resembles a modern day Shenmue, the main game is exploring a relatively small but dense city on foot and played mainly as a modern day Streets of Rage I suppose. Just one with a great story involving the Yakuza families and a ridiculous amount of activities and minigames which are very robust and quite addictive, some even borrowing controls directly from there Super Monkey Ball equivalents (pool, bowling). I'll put it this was I've played about 5 or 6 hours and still only on chapter 2 because I keep getting distracted by all the side stuff, in between investigating a shady property developer who may know who's framed me for murder as part of the story
I'm playing tales of berseria and it's good.on the vita ff7.
