Gravity Rush 2, for all of its critical acclaim, was always going to be an impossible sell, and unfortunately the superhero sequel has failed to break the UK sales charts top ten. The fan favourite finished in 16th position, which doesn't look terrible until you remember that sales are low across the board this time of the year. It probably didn't even achieve five figures.
Once again Grand Theft Auto V remained on top, with FIFA 17, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Battlefield 1, and Watch Dogs 2 all there to flank it. The Last Guardian has managed to linger around the Top 40 which is nice to see, while Uncharted 4: A Thief's End refuses to exit the best sellers list as well. You can peruse the full Top Ten below.
UK Sales Charts: Week Ending 21st January, 2016
- Grand Theft Auto V
- FIFA 17
- Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
- Battlefield 1
- Watch Dogs 2
- Rocket League
- Steep
- Forza Horizon 3
- Mafia III
- Overwatch

It's sad, I don't think we will see a Sequel to Gravity Rush 2, well, at least I'm loving very much GR2.
No surprises, unfortunately
@ferrers405 Yeah, there won't be another one. Fortunately, it wraps up fairly tidily in my opinion.
Steep is doing very well it seems! Good word of mouth on it, gonna have to check it out, I quite enjoyed the demo
GTA5 still leading the way.
That's because people are dumb and have an aversion to fantastic eastern games. 😒
@gmxs It picked up as soon as they dropped the price.
@viciousarcanum I don't think that's true. Resident Evil 7 and Yakuza 0 should do better this week.
Taste. People don't have it
It's a great game, glad I got it!
Yeah, this one was always going to be hard, and at this time of year. I am sad but then haven't bought it myself, but definitely am planning to. Price will drop by the time I'm ready as well, just too much stuff to play since Xmas and before!
It is quite expensive in truth. It's £45 in the UK at most retailers, which is the upper-end of what new games launch for. I guess Sony just decided it wasn't going to sell many copies, so may as well make as much from the fans as possible.
Still, curious if it would have done better at Ratchet & Clank price point.
Disappointing but not surprising. It's a great game.
To be fair it was a Friday release in the U.K., so it's only got a couple of days of tracking going for it.
May be if Gravity Rush Remastered had been on PS+ a couple of months back, more people would've given this a shot.
Also too many games targeting the same audience. I think Tales of Berseria, Jakuza 0, Kingdom Hearts 2.8 & Digimon World will suffer too.
Why buy day one when you can wait three weeks and get it half price?
I think a lot of people got stung before Xmas. Nothing worse than seeing a game slashed in price before you even got a chance to complete it.
@Bliquid I personally don't think there will be, but you never know. I'd happily accept another one.
@gmxs Steeps not very good in my opinion. I got it for £26 new last weekend. It was sold out the week before in Game and HMV. I think it's just going because it's so cheap.
I play it primarily as a snowboarding game and it's very average..
Maybe we'll see GR2 pop back in once it has a price cut, we know people are holding off on new games until the prices come down as its happening so quickly at the moment. I'm waiting for GR2 to go down a bit.
SMH......
Im really enjoying GR2 so far
Another week, another depressingly familiar top 10. Seriously what is with the lack of imagination of UK gamers, if it doesn't involve shooting people they're not interested
Year 2020... "gta v leads the wayyyy"!!!
Couldn't even find a copy where I live
There probably will be another one. They just won't bother releasing it in the west. Anyway I don't care about sales. Gravity Rush 2 already got made and released. It should be celebrated. The world is massive and beautifully designed. The soundtrack is fantastic. The Animation released on Boxing day showed there is a future outside of video games for Kat.
Already bought the r3 limited edition, it's too bad there isn't more expensive special edition with artbook and statue, if there are I'll buy that to support this game
I think it's weird that indie 3rd party game like no man sky have special edition with artbook and steelcase yet a first party game like gravity rush 2 doesn't have it.
GTA go away, GTA go away, GTA go away. I want to see GTA 6 before I draw my pension (in 30 years time) so these casuals best stop buying it soon!
It might not be doing well but Kat still holds a place in my gaming heart for being one of the most adorable characters I've played. I just hope Sony continue to invest in unique and niche IP's especially of the back of PS4 sales and blockbusters like Uncharted that brings in the money. Though the closure of Guerilla Cambridge wasn't exactly what I wanted to hear.
Damn, that's my fault..if only I'd bought day one it would of hit the top ten.
Seriously though, loved the demo and definitely going to buy this.Real shame it didant do better.Just like Tearaway then..
I'm getting it but in a couple of years .
Almost done with it and it's a shame to hear. I reckon it could have done better if Sony put Gravity Rush 1 in the spotlight by making it free on PS+. Also showing it at places like E3 would have helped. Hopefully sales will miraculously pick up.
