Y'know when you're desperate for a game to be good but it's just not quite there? Aqua Moto Racing Utopia is one of those games. We've been so starved of watersports titles for so long that we hoped that this would fill in the void left by Wave Race 64 and Jet Moto (remember that one?) but it's infuriating at times.
We could forgive the wonky character models if the racing was top-notch, but overly aggressive AI means that you'll find your jetski inexplicably rammed into walls at times. The wave physics are neat and the game definitely does have that SEGA Arcade Blue™ sheen, but even with an abundance of modes, it's just not quite good enough to recommend.
A shame.

Seriously... all the water based games suck so hard right now there is no time better than for vector unit to release that hydro thunder 2 or h2overdrive. It would literally be the best racing game on ps4
Honestly it's kind of dumb to knock a 3D indie game for not having cutting edge graphics or character models. The game seems decent enough in-regards to the important aspects of the genre. It's no blockbuster mind you, but it's a decent bargain title.
@Rukiafan7 It's £24.99! And I'm more referring to the character model art rather than the visuals themselves; I think it looks really good, the water especially.
My bigger issue is the AI. It's just way too aggressive and infuriating as a result. Plus, there's loads of rubber-banding!
Those huts are right out of the Gamecube version of Wave Race
Wave Race: Blue Storm filled the hole left by Wave Race 64.
