When it comes to movies based on video games, there's a surprisingly common misconception that developers have a say in the production of the big screen adaptations that are based on their work - but most of the time, this isn't the case. Usually, brands are simply passed along to movie studios who then produce their own take on the property - and the Uncharted film will be no different.
Posting on Twitter, Naughty Dog creative director and writer Neil Druckmann has reiterated that the developer has nothing to do with the now infamous Uncharted movie. "No one at Naughty Dog has read the script. No idea what the movie is about let alone its tone," he writes, following a question from a fan.
Currently, Naughty Dog's working on Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, and, of course, The Last of Us: Part II, so it's probably best that it doesn't have to help make a movie as well.
What are your thoughts on the Uncharted movie? Will it ever come out? If it does, will it actually be any good? Survive by the skin of your teeth in the comments section below.

Well, that's just silly.
total bomb then, i don't understand why IF people want a Uncharted movie why ND doesn't just do a CG one, same voices, characters would look how we know them AND you can make it part of the games continuity
Uncharted are like playable movies anyway so i'm sure they could do it fine
@FullbringIchigo This is it for me, I don't see why we need an Uncharted movie when the games tell their story better than a half-arsed film ever would.
Obviously a movie potentially has access to a larger audience, but still...
I have a bad feeling this movie isn't going to be good. At all.
It'll be one of those movies that will try to make money based off of the name and that's about it.
My prediction?
It will be terrible.
I wish Hollywood would just leave video games alone...
Infamous Uncharted Movie? Some crossover of PS exclusive games in a movie. Delsin/Cole Mcgrath meets Nathan Drake? LMAO
It seems ridiculous that the team behind the game have had no impact on the movie! Of all people that should be involved in some capacity should be the team that created these characters, wrote their story etc.
I guess some authors don't have any influence over the movies of their books and the books do contain all the material to make a 'good' film. Its not like the 4 games don't provide enough information to make a 'good' Uncharted film either with the characters well defined and their personalities well delivered. However with all the upheaval its not looking positive at the moment...
It'll probably turn out like the Assassins Creed film not very good, hopefully the film never gets made.
@ShogunRok
I would say no game needs a movie, but Hollywood needs their money.
The issue with Uncharted is that the game is about the characters. The plot and action on their own are just formulaic. I think a big part of that was the cast and the stories evolution during many hours of game play.
I just want Lost Legacy.
Remember all the talk over the years about a Bioshock movie? Or even a Halo movie?The idea of a game turned into a movie sounds cool but I don't think they could ever live up to any of our expectations.
to be fair Ubisoft being involved in the Assassins Creed film didn't help
I remember when they first announced this movie after Uncharted 2 came out and the director at the time originally cast Mark Wahlberg as Drake. I think that's all that needs to be said.
Why would they? ND are too busy making games that are already like movies to begin with.
They've got their own things to work on, don't need to be wasting their time on a money-grab movie. Let's not pretend the absence of game devs is why video game movies tend to suck.
@Octane
What are the odds? 🤔
