Unlike its predecessor, Star Wars Battlefront 2 will launch with a single player campaign. EA boss Andrew Wilson confirmed the tidbit during an earnings call, adding that the title is not in a galaxy far, far away β it's actually slated to launch this holiday, as expected.
While the executive was understandably coy with his answers, he did note that the release will include content from "multiple Star Wars eras", with both The Force Awakens and Rogue One likely to feature. Hopefully Jar Jar Binks puts in an appearance so we can repeatedly shoot him in his stupid face.
According to Wilson, the game's being worked on by hit factory DICE in conjunction with Jade Raymond's Motive Studios and ex-Burnout developer Criterion. Will you be picking this up β especially now it's promising an all-important single player campaign? Shoot first in the comments section below.

I said this regarding Titanfall 2 as well, and forgive my lingo here but @get2sammyb knows my frustration with this.
Since when is a single player experience an actual selling point for a video game.
@BLP_Software I agree with you actually. But I guess since both predecessors didn't include one, it's news that the sequels will.
I'm with you, though!
@BLP_Software
Times sure have changed.
Although it was originally multiplayer being used as a selling point, now we have single player as a selling point.
Sometimes nudity and romance
@get2sammyb I know what I'm getting you for Christmas now. Jar Jar Binks anime. π

I'm guessing they heard enough about it not being in the last one. I've considered buying it a few times but no. So maybe yes now.
@rjejr Oh god!
@Xaessya Boobs and the ability to play a game on your being treated as new and exciting. I feel old.
@rjejr Your a monster sometimes mate. XD
@get2sammyb it is a sad time when gaming pushes what is...well...standard, and shouts it from the rooftops. Just watch, EA will do what they did with TF2. Shout it from the rooftops like they just made a cure for disease.
@BLP_Software Well to be fair, this was just mentioned in passing during an earnings call. But yeah, I'm sure they'll make a big noise about it when the game's revealed properly.
Can we just get the actual SW Battlefront II as a backwards compatibility/PS2 Classic title instead?
This is what I wanted from Battlefront 1. It always feels weird to get a second entry in the series when I don't own the first one. Same reason I skipped Titanfall 2, really want to pick it up, but it's not on my priority list.
Anyway, here's hoping this will be good.
If the campaign is good, I might get it.
Kinda wish they would re-release classic Battlefront 2 on the PS2-to-PS4 program.
If it turns out good, then sure, I'm down. But I'm also waiting to see what Destiny 2 turns out like, and I don't wanna put time into multiple FPS games because there's TOO DAMN MANY NOW!
Multiplayer only games never interest me for two reasons. One, I'm just not that good at them and dying repeatedly isn't fun for me. And two, if you want to come back to it way later you may not find a match...or worse, the servers may not be up anymore and the game becomes useless. I love SW and now that this will have some kind of single player MAYBE I'll be a little more tempted to get it at some point.
DICE make awful single player campaigns usually, battlefield 1 reconfirmed that for me except the flying act that was very enjoyable.
Single player campaign that lasts less that 5 hours like most online focused games???
@BLP_Software "Since when is a single player experience an actual selling point for a video game" - well, since forever for me and absolutely everyone I know.
I purchased SWB mostly because I'm a tiny bit of a SW geek, and I hardly ever play it because I loathe online gaming.
I have thoroughly enjoyed Dice's campaigns in the past btw.
Finally a single player campaign. Hopefully some VR elements will be added as well. Being able to control the light saber with a move controller in VR would be something very special
I want The Old Republic MMO to come to consoles because we'll never get another KoTOR. The Star Wars universe has so much potential to make amazing games it's a shame that they've mostly been a bit naff.
Areet sorry guy's can't find anything on the site about our free game's next month, any new's? Oh Star War's, yeah sux won't be buying Battlefront 2
If it's as good as Titanfall 2's singleplayer then I'll definitely consider a purchase.
As long as this one actually comes with more content than a multiplayer demo I'll consider it lol.
I'm not a big MP fan and haven't got Battlefront for that reason but I don't think single player campaigns are necessary for a primarily online game. Lots of great single player games for me to choose from. I'd rather it be all MP then a silly, tacked on SP campaign.
@BLP_Software
What's next, Capcom offering Arcade Mode for Street Fighter?
I got Battlefront and I got a lot out of it by playing local co op with my bro. It sucks that the Season Pass only added online content, hence I never got that. SP is always welcome but I hope it keeps the splitscreen
What we all wanted in the first place!
I'm in! I hesitated and didn't buy battlefront sw cos of only multiplayer.
@get2sammyb "Hopefully Jar Jar Binks puts in an appearance so we can repeatedly shoot him in his stupid face."
Made my day! <3
@TheIronChimp They have that now in SWBF. It was added a few patches ago. You can play Walker Assault on Hoth against the AI bots.
