We've seen very little of Dragon Quest XI since it was announced last year, but that won't be stopping Square Enix from slapping it with a Japanese release date. Previously, the highly anticipated role-playing game was scheduled for a vague '2017' launch, but the Japanese publisher has confirmed that it'll be getting a concrete date at an upcoming event.
Said event will take place on the April 11th, and it'll be livestreamed over on YouTube. Of course, not that many of us will actually be grabbing the Japanese version of the game, but this at least suggests that the title's development is on schedule. In turn, we'll hopefully have ourselves a Western release date soon.

Still waiting for Dragon Quest X.
Was kinda hoping they'd (both Japan and West versions) be released at the same time.
Most anticipated JRPG.Can not wait!
The same Squenix who had a huge live event early last year to announce the release date for FFXV, then delayed the game 2 months about a month before launch? What could possibly go wrong?
@rjejr This is different. FF15 was rife with problems. But DQ11 has been seemingly smooth sailing all the way, and Square Enix has been very confident in it. It will outsell FF15 easily in Japan at launch. Of course, that's not hard with PS4, 2DS and 3DS combined, but DQ11 would do very well even if it was just on PS4.
