Sony's always wanted the PlayStation 4 to feel a little bit like a social network, and it's edged ever closer to that goal with PS4 firmware update 4.50. Previously, the Activity Feed was the domain of auto-published content like Trophy unlocks and screenshot shares, but now you have a little more control over what you post. Here's how to take advantage of status updates.

How to Post Status Updates to PS4's Activity Feed

Here's how you can post status updates using PS4's new Activity Feed features:

Go to the Activity Feed

First and foremost, if you're not sure what the Activity Feed is, it's the area under the 'What's New' section of the PS4 operating system that loads as soon as you boot it up.

Post a Status Update

You're going to see a new box at the top of the Activity Feed asking: "What are you up to?" Select this and you'll be able to input text. You can also add screenshots, a game, and tag in players if you want to, as well as set the privacy status. Click 'Post' to set your status live. You can always change the privacy settings at a later date by hovering over it, pushing the Options button, and following the prompts.
