Much like the first game, Sony will act as Destiny 2's publisher in Japan. The platform holder's said that it will fully localise the first-person shooter on Activision's behalf, adding both subtitles and voiceover in the nation's native tongue. It's obviously no surprise that it's going the extra mile given Japan's penchant for Western titles these days; the original game sold very well in the East.
There's no word from PlayStation whether this is going to wind up an exclusive overseas, but this turned out to be the case with the previous entry, so we wouldn't be surprised. Microsoft has yet to make any announcements regarding the sequel in Japan, but given the Xbox One's sales in the region, it's possible it will just cede the title's bragging rights to its counterpart.

Will this be the same for Call of Duty?
No Switch release and lacklustre sales of the Xbox One in Japan. Smart move.
Nobody will ever buy an Xbox in Japan unless Microsoft start making JRPG titles.
@mmarkster Yes, Sony often publishes Call of Duty in Japan.
@get2sammyb, I thought Square took care of COD in Japan. Or use to anyways.
@shonenjump86 They used to but Sony's published the more recent ones.
Huh, might have to snag this version if the game. Thx for the heads up💙
It's no surprise that it sold well in Japan. The art style borrows heavily from old manga (Masamune Shirow in particular, look at the Fallen Walkers), and the Japanese audience do love a good grind. Good to hear it's getting some love over there.
