Despite its presence on the Nintendo 3DS as well, Dragon Quest XI is likely to be a gigantic seller for Sony when it releases this summer on the PlayStation 4. It's no surprise to see the publisher pairing up with Square Enix to create a crazy new hardware bundle in time for the role-playing title's 29th July release date in Japan, then.
And let's get real here: this Dragon Quest Loto Edition is a ridiculous-looking machine. Retailing for ¥39,980 (~$358), the console comes in royal blue with a 1TB hard-drive, printed motif, and matching DualShock 4 controller. The bundle also includes a copy of Dragon Quest XI on Blu-ray and some DLC items, a 'Liquid Metal Slime' USB figurine, and a download code for a dynamic theme.
Pre-orders open 29th April in Japan, but you can watch the bundle's bizarre announcement trailer above. What do you think of this one? It's a bit gaudy, isn't it? Slime us with your impressions in the comments section below.

Very nice, although I'd love to see the Pro get a little love at some point...
That looks amazing! Considering i'm planning to move to Japan in a few months, I might just pick that up when i get there Quite excited for the game too!
Edit: it's either that one or the FF15 version!
Bleh, that's so garish.
Looks too much like the Zelda series' Hyrule Crest!
Not familiar with the series but it does look incredibly like Zelda on first glance. And also quite hideous.
I think it's gaudy tbh. The box has Saint Seya cloth armor vibes.
@ShogunRok yeah waiting for a special edition of the pro to get one.
@Feena Yeah, same. Been after a Pro for ages but I feel like as soon as I pull the trigger they'll finally announce a special one or a one in a different colour.
Jealous, and like others have stated above, it'd be something to consider if it came west as a Pro console.
@neuroticbiotic @Gold_Ranger At least half, but probably more like 3/4, of people in the US who saw this, minus the slime on top, would think "Zelda". The rest would just have no idea what it was. Well OK maybe a few would think DQ, but just a few.
I really like this. A lot. That royal blue color is really nice. I'd buy that controller if I could, my sons would tell all their friends it's a Zelda controller for the PS4.
As nice as it is, this New 2DS LL, releasing the same day, will sell more.
@ShogunRok What's a "Pro", is that like a Vita 2 or something?
Meh.
Just want the game.
Fast after Japan release please.
I need it.
Yeah it's gross but I quite like it. Better than the ones that try and look classy but just end up looking tacky.
Even so, i generally dislike limited edition consoles. Standard all the way for me!
Dragon Quest always has the best ps4's with those damn slimey's >.<
I really like it,especially the slime sat on the top but yeah to be honest I would much prefer that 2ds that @rjejr is showing off..
But I would never buy a special edition Console again after buying the Final Fantasy XIII Xbox 360 Special Edition and hating the game..
I'd worry about that slime getting damaged, but I still love the rest of it.
I'm waiting for a LE Spiderman PS4 Pro console. A red, white and blue one. Would be glorious if they do it.
I really like that design. If it was in a Pro console I'd snap it up in a flash.
