New Hot Shots Golf's online game world seems like the sort of thing that could collapse on launch day, so it's a good thing that developer Clap Hanz is planning a closed beta for the arcade golfing release. Set to run between 26th May and 28th May in Japan only, you'll need to download a "ticket" from the PlayStation Store in order to register your interest, and if successful you'll be contacted by email about it.
The server stress test will allow you to try out the title's open world action, meaning that you'll be able to both hit the links and spend some time interacting with the various other minigames that populate the golf club. The full game is set to deploy on 31st August in the East, but Sony's not said anything about a Western release date just yet.
Update (18:00 BST): The beta's also coming to Europe and North America.

This is a day 1 purchase for me when it comes over here. We spent so many hours on the other one, we were just addicted to it!
Thanks. Just 'downloaded' the ticket
I would have preferred the old single player formula to this new open world and online community thing. I think it's lost a lot of its charm having created characters instead of set ones. Here's hoping I'll be pleasantly surprised by the change, though.
I feel like I'll be able to play this one in Japanese if worst comes to worst.
Looks like a Christmas release oh well the good thing is its coming out in Japan just need a confirmation that there is a release in the West.
@Number09 Eurogamer reported a 30th August release date for Europe. Fingers crossed, this is a day 1 purchase for me.
@Mergatro1d Thanks Great news pre order digital for me cant see me putting this down.
@Turniplord how? when I signed in (US account) it states not available.
@wittypixel the 'ticket' method is only for Japanese accounts. So you can make one, with a Japanese address and set as primary (you can have 12 primary accounts on your PS4). Then you can grab it.
It seems us in the uk are getting a beta as well but it's gonna be 'select account' with no info on what accounts will be chosen - not sure about USA ones yet
