Destiny 2 is looking pretty bloody good isn't it? Earlier today, Bungie showed the sequel in action, giving us a look at 'Homecoming' - the game's first story mission. In it, you'll be on the front lines as the Cabal attack the last city in a devastating assault.
On a surface level it looks a lot like the Destiny we already know. The shooting looks punchy, the sci-fi flair is unmistakable, and there are some lovely looking headshots. That said, gameplay looks faster and even more fluid. Naturally, the visuals also seem like a real step above what the original game offered. The lightning in particular looks fantastic in places.

Yup, looks class. Would like to know a bit more about how big the world is this time against the original. I mean the mission they showed looks cool and all but you wouldn't want to keep playing it over and over again. It kind of looks like it was planned to just be another DLC but somewhere along the line they decided to stick a 2 on the end and refresh everyone to maintain the player base.
I didn't see the whole conference so maybe I missed some of that.
@kyleforrester87
They said the first planet is bigger than any area Bungie has made in any game previously. Make of that what you will.
On the whole I think it looks fantastic! I am very excited for D2.
@kyleforrester87 It sounds like they're going semi-open world with the explorable planets. Apparently they're going to have quests and secrets and blah blah blah.
My takeaway from this event was "we're making the Destiny we wanted to make from the beginning".
@ShogunRok @NorrinRadd Cool, thanks. Look forward to seeing some of the new locations. At the end of the day I don't consider myself a hardcore Destiny player having only played the raids a handful of times but I still put 200 hours in which is a fair chunk of time so can't really say the game was bad. It did get tiresome from time to time so..yeah I'm just hoping it's somehow more consistently engaging than the first.
Can't wait! I loved playing the raids/nightfall etc but it was a pain getting groups together. This should make things a lot easier now. Plus, it has a plot! Day one, obviously.
Just pre-ordered Digital Deluxe Edition. I'm allllll in!
Looks great, I really like the sound of the exploration and actually searching for treasure, oh and not having to go to orbit all the time. Finally I'll be able to play all the raids and Nightfalls without having to get together a fire team.
Definitely pre-ordering come pay day and bring on the beta
I love the shooting mechanics but I despise:
-Getting locked out of content I bought because I didn't buy the latest DLC.
-Getting into levels that are impossible because I'm playing solo.
-Getting into levels that are impossible until I grind to level up
-Too much RPG for an FPS.
-Returning to base all the time and wondering what I'm supposed to do there.
Are they fixing these problems in D2? Because no amount of pretty graphics will help me overlook those flaws.
New clan system coming as well, dare I say... a Push Square fire team will be ready?
I loved the first game when it came out I was so excited. For the first 30 hours It was fun but after It got too grindy.Also lack of content and grouping up was an issue. I jusy felt disconnected if it makes sense.I wanted to be more athmospheric to pull me into the scifi world.I just really really hope Its gonna be the destiny everyone expected from the begining.We want an fps sci-fi world of warcraft with a strong and stable community and We want trade ofcourse.Amen. I will definitly wait a month or 2 after release to see how it turns out.
Is it 10 years already Activision? My how time flies.
Just back from watching the reveal in the cinema and it was glorious! I really liked everything I saw, it's Destiny through and through, but improved in little areas. As a hunter I feel a little bit let down, Warlock and Titan supers look incredible, while the Hunter one is basically bladedancer with a staff, but hey ho, I'll wait to play it and see the other subclasses as well. Good vibes overall though, well done Bungie.
@DrClayman Hunter here as well, Pretty sure there will be more than one SubClass, The Staff does look more Warlock-ish and the Sword more Hunter-ish.
Look's like the same old Destiny gameplay but with new ability's and more open world, i'm hoping for a lot more customisation, choice of character's and more of an RPG element. It look's pretty good but from someone who hasn't played Destiny since the first expansion the gameplay look's pretty much the same, I'm not going to lie if it's just the same old Hunter Titan or Warlock i'm going to be gutted, I was hoping for say 6 character choice's at least, i'd probably be happy with just the one though.
@sketchturner A massive 50% of players that owned Destiny never played the Raids & other content, because of no Matchmaking. In Destiny 2 that problem has been fixed.
In Destiny 2 you can go straight to missions/Raids/Strikes etc, without having to go to orbit first.
Obviously DLC has been discussed, so cannot say how it will effect the game.
Anyway from the stream Destiny 2 is set to blow the original Destiny out of the water, this is what Destiny should have been. I also get the feeling Bungle feels the same way, by saying this is a fresh start. The amount of stuff to do for solo/co-op & PvP is a lot lot better, and you'll be able to do everything if your a solo player . Looking forwards to the Beta, i wasn't sure about Destiny 2 but after seeing that i am sure it'll be brilliant.
It looked really good actually in terms of graphics, the lighting was fantastic as well. If what those above me say is true about matchmaking for raids and strikes.....i'm all in.
@sketchturner To much RPG? What game did i play then. I would have love to have seen some RPG stuff. You mean leveling up and skills? Give me more RPG with more quests and stuff to do.
If the matchmaking thing is true, I'm psyched. I never had access to raids because y'all are in GMT
@Flaming_Kaiser Same. I'd say beef the rpg elements...There's a whole PSO resonance in Destiny that I adore.
@ShogunRok more like
"we're making the Destiny we promised to make originally"
doesn't look much different gameplay wise to me, which may or may not be a good thing depending on your point of view. personally having shot 200,000+ fallen, cabal, etc. already, i was hoping for an entire enemy refresh. was hard to tell if the game is 60 fps, didn't look like it though. hated the crucible so don't care what changes they make to it. it's all the non-gameplay stuff and whether that's been changed for the better that will sway me towards getting the game or not.
