Ubisoft has posted a series of short teasers for Far Cry 5, which also confirm that the game will take place in Montana. You can check out one of the videos below, but there are more here.
This follows a long line of rumours which initially pitched Far Cry 5 as a sort of Spaghetti Western set in the 19th century, but now we have confirmation that we'll be heading to the Western region of the USA. We can't be sure on the time period just yet, but the teasers seem quite contemporary to us.
Alongside the trailers, Ubisoft has also announced a worldwide reveal for the game which will take place in four days' time, on 26th May. Make sure you come back to Push Square for news on that as it happens.
How excited are you to be heading back to the world of Far Cry? Let us know in the comments below.

I love the teaser trailers, they've got an awesome vibe to them. Montana seems like a cool setting. @ShogunRok and I have just been chatting, and we don't reckon this is Western — more just crazy outback cults.
PlayStation branding is all over this so expect to see it during Sony's presser in some capacity.
Creed next?
So um....given Dumia is a fork of CryENGINE I don't know what I was expecting but....
ya its pretty trees grass and water alright. Just like CryENGINE and Dumia puts out. And if you want to show that Montana has lots of it...
@BLP_Software You realise these are live action, right?
@get2sammyb If they manage to get Assassin's Creed too, I can't think of any other AAA game that really sells systems releasing this holiday season that they wouldn't have the marketing deal for.
That would be crazy, and a very good Christmas for PlayStation!
@get2sammyb Yeah. But what is Far Cry made in and what are the only things that can do for environments. Islands, snow, water, grass.
And as you know from Montana, there's a lot of that there to dull us over with!
I'm sure it'll look fine but this is the 6th title and...try a desert? I don't know it's just...visually uninteresting.
@LiamCroft I'm 99.9% certain Assassin's Creed is going to be with Xbox this year.
Im getting creepy religious redneck Hills have Eyes families from these trailers, and I am all in
is that a womans body floating down the front of the screen in the first trailer??
Edit: looks like the same clothes as the fat guy that gets shot in the other trailer.
Also thinks its going to be more modern because of the propane tanks next to the church and the telephone poles.
Good, glad its not a western setting personally but - I WANT UNDERWATER KNIFING COMBAT GODARNIT..Also i have only just started Primal,at least i have finished FC4..
Great. Far Cry 4 was ridiculous fun, but I didn't dig the setting of Primal. Looking forward to hearing more about this.
Definitely intrigued! Roll on Friday.
@get2sammyb I think Jason Schreirer had already semi-confirmed before that this wouldn't be a western.
Western/futuristic/zombies/present?I don't care I'm just really hyped for a new Far Cry
Never tried Primal but looks interesting
@Athrum Ahhh there we go then.
No.3 is far and away the best for me so far, but i'm still having a lot of fun in 4. They need to do away with the OTT handholding HUD, the color coded enemies / allies, and the ability to track enemies through freakin' walls (who came up with that anyways?)
Psyched for this..!
What, video not available in my country?!
*checked em out youtube, digging the setting
Interesting. I've yet to finish Primal but I loved 3 and 4.
I am on PS4 and it say that uploader has not made this available in your country. I live in the US. I watched it on the youtube app where many people have uploaded this short video.
This Montana location looks interesting.
I love the animation of the bell in the church.
Huh?!?! What was that? -replay-
Damn lol
Well at least we're getting one cowboy shooter this year.
Love the look of the landscape in the video.
Maybe this is just one area and future cops are Time Splitting to save the world...
Looks gre--oh Ubisoft...
@roe If you're talking about RDR2, it's been delayed till next year
YouTube will only let me watch #3 of 4.
If they dont' want to advertise it as a western they shouldn't use the first notes from the Firefly theme. Or maybe it was Bon Jovi. But it was very western sounding.
The guy getting his head banged against the bell made me think of Preacher. Though I haven't seen it yet so I could be wrong. (Season 2 is on next month, I better get a move on.)
And of course that could be the church from Westworld. Nothing says "Not Western" like invoking "WestWorld".
Know how every body kept comparing Overwatch and Battleborne even though they weren't the same? And everybody keeps comparing Horizon and Zelda even though they are very different games? Well expect everybody to be comparing Far Cry and Red Dead if they release about a month apart. I'm not expecting them to be anything alike, but I am expecting comparisons.
I'm not sure why anyone thought this was going to be set in something akin to Red Dead. Sure, Montana is closer to the west coast, but its boarding Canada an thus gets pretty cold. I'm looking forward to the reveal though. Them setting it in the states is pretty awesome.
@rjejr This will likely be coming out in the autumn/winter, and after the delay of RD2 I can't see them releasing close to one another.
Looks REAL I don't mind where it's set really because the FC games have all been FUN
The last Far Cry game I played was FC3 and only half of it before I grew tired of being a super soldier normal dude. It was fun for a while, though, so I think I'm ready for another Cry game. I know Ubisoft's games are always chocka with a cluttered map of collectables but the open worlds they build are very good.
@Tasuki no, I meant FC5. It may not be a traditional western but the guitar jingle at the end of the teasers certainly hints at that kind of theme. At least that's my interpretation of it anyway.
