As its name suggests, Tekken 7 is the seventh main instalment in Namco's 3D fighting series. Originally made available as a Japanese arcade release back in early 2015, the title has come a long way since, gradually growing its playable character roster and tweaking its gameplay mechanics bit by bit.
Given the property's storied history, it's no surprise that many characters from previous games are returning alongside a slew of fresh faces. With Tekken 7 due to release for the PlayStation 4 on the 2nd June 2017, we thought that we'd pen this quick guide on which characters are actually in the game at launch. Let's hope that your favourite has made the cut, eh?

Dat King!
Argghhh where are Christie and Julia Still, Lucky chloe is a great character! Or at least she was in the arcade version. Hope she hasn't been nerfed in the transition to console
surprised Lei hasn't been confirmed
No Eddy Gordo? NO SALE!
Out of all those unconfirmed characters, I can only see a handful making it into the final launch roster, if that. The likes of Anna, Armor King, Baek, and Lei are probably among the most popular there. Julia seems reasonable, too.
No rodger Jr. is no buy for me. He always was and always will be my main in the tekken series.
•Lei Wulong
My favourite character! Please be in. His stage on T2 was the best! But if it all goes wrong then;
•Yoshimitsu I call upon you.
I wanna my Anna.
There's been alot of outcry for Lei to return. Some say he's not that popular, so either they're wrong, or it's a very vocal minority.
My favorites are already in, so I'm happy. I'm okay if Lei returns, as well as Julia and Anna.
Post release DLC maybe?
King, Law, Eddy, Yoshimitsu, Phoenix, Nina...Ah the good old days
@johncalmc Wasn't Eddie killed in the stroyline?
No surprise Jun isn't in it. The devs have said numerous times that Jun won't be back in a regular Tekken since her death was a main focal point in the canon. After all that's why they made Tekken Tag.
Idk why kunimitsu gets so much hate... yoshimitsu in the beginning was just as nerfed if not more. He destroyed. And now Kunimitsu destroys. Hoping for her return somehow or another.
Julia would be nice! But I am trying to main Akuma this time of course - in his not "Akuma Matata" form.
@Feena I'm secretly hoping that his mad lion's mane hairdo is an unlockable customisation item in Tekken 7.
No Christie?! She's the best fighter, come on Namco!
@Tasuki Honestly? No idea. I can't even remember the stories of the games post-Tekken 3. I know I played them but I think my mind blocked them out.
@johncalmc Yeah I know what you mean, but if he is dead that might be why he's not in the game.
As long as Dragonuv Lili and Steve Fox is in the game I'm happy everyone else is a bonus lol my main 3 rotation
@Tasuki I mean, sure, traditionally being dead would be a good reason for not being in a game. But then Kazuya did come back from being thrown into a volcano so who's to say...
No Julia or Michelle ?
Not Interested.
@johncalmc True, true.
Here is my response (nothing new here, it is pretty much the response each month, so sorry for the lack of originality.)
1. This months games are ****!
2. This month games are cool!
(you choose).
The truth is this - for a year's subs Sony give an aggregate of decent enough games to justify the price of the ticket.
The problem is that - just by law of averages - it may well be that most of these games do not suit your tastes. This can open you up to new gaming experiences if you are positive and make you want to punch Sony and regret spending the money if your mindset is negative.
The solution is simple - if you think it is a good deal, pay up. If you don't, then don't.
@Retrorob Er, think you're in the wrong article here.
Ha!
Ok, I am putting the bottle of bourbon down right now.....
...stepping back.
Never going to touch that stuff again!
Tekken is too easy. But that's the way it is.
Lei Wulong is always great fun to use.
And Armour King just looks awesome, too iconic to leave out.
I want ALL characters - the roster is way too small so far for a TEKKEN game
R.I.P Roger and Roger Jr.
I'm gonna miss True Ogre.
And regular Ogre for that matter.
