Golden Week did little to propel hardware or software sales in Japan, as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe once again ruled the roost. PlayStation 4 hardware enjoyed a small bump, but it was the Xbox One that scored the biggest increase – even if its numbers are little more than a statistical error at this point.
NieR: Automata prevented the top ten from being dominated by Nintendo games. In fact, the Platinum Games developed adventure must be considered a big hit at this point, selling a very respectable 320,497 units in the region to date. The full suite of figures are embedded below.

Eh, E3 is coming right around the corner for the market to get excited. Hopefully nintendo can keep the momentum going, it's been a while since they've had a successful console after the Wii U fiscal, so it's nice to see nintendo enter the race again (and yes, I know the 3DS has done great over there). PS4 is finally starting to slow down, which means that Sony just needs to start upping the game a little...more games that are what people are wanting, plus, the next Uncharted will be arriving soon, which means PS4 will rise again!!!! It's not like Sony always has to be on top for everything, so it's nice to see someone else take the lime light for a while...as for X-box...wow, sad when the Wii U and VITA are beating it to death.
Wow, Xbox One managed to sold a bit more than the PS3 and WiiU, being placed in 8th and NOT 10th for the first time. Microsoft must be proud.
@JLPick The PS3 is even close with the Xbox One ouch.....
@SoulsBourne128 600% increase in sales! 😂
I'm 75 hour in nier automata, just finished route C, I think I'm gonna platinum it. I definitely get my money worth from this game
Nintendomination lol
Those PS4Pro sales are pretty down there...will we see a PS4Pro-Pro at E3
@Flaming_Kaiser Even worse is how long the PS3 has been out!!!! I honestly don't even think the 360 did that good over there either. Not really sure how the original X-box faired either...seems like Nintendo and Sony own the markets over there! I've always wondered how the Sega Genesis, Dreamcast and Gamegear faired over there!
