America’s Army: Rise of a Soldier was famously cancelled on the PlayStation 2, but it looks like the U.S. Army is going to give things another go, announcing that it’s bringing free-to-play military sim America’s Army: Proving Grounds to the PlayStation 4. There’ll be an open beta imminently, with a full launch planned later in the summer.
“Maps will all support 8v8 combat and all weapons traits, user interface, and gameplay has been adapted specifically for the PS4,” the press release on the game’s official website reveals. The open beta will also debut a new map named Sandstorm, which is actually the first time it’ll be playable on any platform – including PC.

I'm all for U.S. military indoctrination so long as it's funded by companies such as Activision and Electronic Arts. Once my taxpayer dollars get involved, that's another matter which I don't support.
Is officially liscensed by America?
@Tingle_The_Great
It is a product of the U.S. Army. It's been around for at least 15 years. It is developed and published by the U.S. Army and funded by the U.S. Taxpayers.
@lacerz Will we get trump dlc?
@Tingle_The_Great - Only if you buy the season pass.
Is this any good tho?
@BladeRider
Haven't played since it first launched. Was more interested in Counter-Strike 1.6, which was a free mod to Half-Life at the time.
I did try it, but found the controls "clunky". It has been 15 years though, so who knows. I helped pay for the "game" at no cost for others to play, so give it a go and consider enlisting.
@lacerz are they actually funding this directly through taxes or is there some other funding? Surely you can support the Army using this game to find the best players to operate their future Army Mech Soldiers, didn't you see the Russians are making robot gunslingers...
US Army, eh? Yeah. No.
Can't wait for the mission where you get to firebomb an unarmed farming village
Friendly fire is always on.
Looks cool. It's not often we get to play as the terrorists
AA Special Forces on PC back in the day was amazing! Spent many hours on it, and was just reminiscing about it the other day haha. If it has the map "Hospital", ill be stoked!
The game is made by the Army and is funded by money already alloted for recruiting. As an American and a veteran, Im totally good with that!
P.S. Love the ignorant anti-american comments about fire bombing villages! Ignorant little maggot.
