Electronic music has been part of WipEout’s DNA since its inception; the game used to pop up in UK clubs during the PSone days. Apparently. We were too young to be licking WKD off a stripper’s abs back then, and now it seems we’re too old to recognise half of the songs on re-release WipEout Omega Collection’s soundtrack.
Sony held a livestream while the rest of the UK was watching the Europa League final last night, where it played a bunch of songs that... Aren’t actually in the game at all. That annoyed a lot of people, who are clearly forgetting that you could just create your own Spotify playlist and stream it over the top of the game.
Here’s the official lineup of choons on the disc (or digital download) anyway:
WipEout Omega Collection Soundtrack
- ADDIKTION – Shake It (WipEout Omega Instrumental Edit)
- Airwolf – Talking Bass feat. Stace Cadet (Taiki Nulight Edit)

Yeah, we haven’t heard of, like, 90 per cent of these. Then again, the Push Square Towers radio does tend to skew towards tween pop these days.

There are some good tracks in here, but the beauty of WipEout is that the soundtrack almost becomes one with the gameplay. You can have the stupidest sounding electro slapped over a lap of WipEout and it'd still seem like a match made in heaven.
Wipeout passed me by for a long time till I got HD Fury as one of my "Welcome back" freebies from the outage and playing it with my own music completely changed everything. I loved how the music would echo when you went into tunnels too.
Also watched the stream and the football. Ah the miracle of having a tablet and a TV
On the Vita, Wipeout HD was like, totally zen, man - unbelievable synergy with the game, music and hardware. Buying on PS4 this is a classic @adf86
Great soundtrack! Sad that 'Fluke' by Absurd isn't there though Amazing track that only made it into Wipeout 64.
@LocalPenguin I think you mean Absurd by Fluke.
Fluke have made a few tunes, pretty sure one of their musuc videos is a wipeout ripoff if I'm not mistaken.
I am possibly the world's worst Wipeout player but I am still considering getting a hold of this for old time's sake.
Good bit of d&b there, would of preferred a more junglist purist ost like Rollcage 2 - but a good overall selection none the less.Wipeout!
@themcnoisy Oh bugger! How did I manage that?! Haha I've been watching the video this week too! After watching the 'Spaced' episode when they rescue Colin
Well I was clubbing in the 90's and yes, wipeout was often shown on large projectors in clubs. I would often see it as I came up for air as I Iicked wkd blues out of the navels of slightly wobbly strippers. How did you guys know?
I love it when people use the word "literally" correctly.
I made an Alternative playlist with 40 musics, normalized volume, in the right folder, just have to download/copy on a USB key and run...or fly...anyway....thing Wipeout ship does.
