Sci-fi horror hasn’t really had a champion on consoles since Dead Space, but The Persistence looks like a worthy addition to the genre. A procedurally generated title for PlayStation VR, the title sees you whisked away to a far-flung corner of the galaxy, where a black hole investigation has gone horribly awry.
You’ll play as a character awakening to the madness from cryo-sleep, and each time you die you’ll respawn as a new human with different skills and abilities. Over time you’ll collect currency which will allow you to buff your starting player, but early doors you’ll find yourself outmuscled by the mutated enemies that you encounter.
This one’s looking and sounding really good, we must admit. Check out the video above for an interview with the developer and a bunch of gameplay footage.

Dammm this is easily the best looking PSVR game I have seen. Not a massive fan of procedural generated stuff but this could change that! Loving the attention to story and upgrade system sounds thought out
How was this not on the presser!?!?!
Probably a day one purchase for me.
@bbtothe true after the whole no mans sky ordeal the term "procedurally generated" has really lost any weight behind it
@Bingoboyop Yep. But even then in games like Enter The Gungeon, while I see the potential and why people like procedural, personally Id rather have something stable and mapped out like Rain World.
This game above tho will seriously make me consider picking up a headset if its as good as it looks when it launches!
Aim support?
There seems to be a lot of very good games to VR this year and this is very close to the top of that list, I like the sound of the companion app too
IDK, Alien Isolation was kind of a hit. I think that is newer than Dead Space. I'd call that a "champion".
