Hands up if you played Bubsy 3D? It was a platformer for the PSone that’s widely regarded as one of the worst games on the platform, and a fun bit of trivia for you: it was made by Days Gone developer Sony Bend. Anyway, the furry… Er, not sure what animal he is actually? A bobcat, perhaps? He’s back, is what we’re trying to say.
Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back is a 2.5D platformer heading to the PlayStation 4 this coming September. There are some, er, quotes from the character himself in the press release: “Yes, I know there are many questions about where I’ve been and what I’ve been doing since Bubsy 3D. After that game’s HUGE success, I decided to become a transmedia star and signed a multipicture picture deal with 4F Pictures, I could have gone with Roger Corman but I don’t go in for that highbrow stuff.”
Interestingly, the release will also plot the return of Accolade, a publisher which operated between 1985 until 2000 and… Now appears to be back, we guess. To be honest, the game doesn’t look terrible in the trailer, and everyone involved seems to be well aware of the series’ past. Maybe it’ll turn out alright in the end?

The comeback that nobody asked for!
For the Players
The Bubsy Babes!
Black Forest are the guys behind Giana Sisters Twisted Dreams, right? Didn't like that one and never was a fan of Bubsy so I will definitely skip it.
I think i used the bubsy games, both SNES and PS1, as examples of how platforming could go wrong if not handled correctly to a younger friend. Needless to say it was entertaining see the look of horror on his face.
Oh no.
So many bad memories of Bubsy 3D. Simply the worst game ever made.
My brother actually bought the original Bubsy on the snes as he liked the look of it.
He doesn't really play video games now. Some say it's because he has a wife and two young children, but I know it's due to that little sod, Bubsy.
if even Bubsy is coming back, I fully expect a Cool Spot remaster.
Why....
What's next? Time Commando?
@Ralizah should bring back Zool first
Back when I didn't know what good games were I wanted to find more platformers like Crash Bandicoot. I picked up Bubsy 3D and it didn't end well.
Why couldn't we have gotten a new Tomba or even a new gex game
Last time I checked, Bubsy had more 2D platformers to his name than 3D ones.
ho hum........ ho hum......................ho hum...
Lol bubsy... I would rather see a remake of turrican since old accolade is involved
This was almost as unnecessary as a crossover game between super mario characters and rabbids.
Wait....
I actually used to really like Bubsy on the Megadrive. Wasn't the best platformer in the world but it was good fun. Shame it went from a half decent 2D platformer to an atrocious 3D one.
This looks... alright? I guess?
The year of dreams indeed.
I don't see this ending well.
Bubsy VR please. A sequel to 3D, of course.
I actually quite liked the first 2 games on the mega drive, to be honest. Ignoring the fact I would've been less than 10 years old at the time, adult me is relatively interested in seeing how this one pans out.
Looks like I'm the only person that doesant know who the hell Bubsie is!Still,this looks good...kind of..
@Areus I would fund a new Tomba! game myself. I'd sell my car if I had to.
What could possibly go wrong?
Wow, I wasn't really expecting this to come back on any day but April 1st. They can have a nice collaboration with Knack 2.
No but seriously, if THAT is back you can bring back Klonoa, Bandai-Namco.
@FreakerZ So down for that!
I remember this on the Mega-Drive Bubsy 2D was a lot better than the awful 3D Bubsy. I cannot believe its the same Accolade that made the Mega-Drive one obviously with different people wasn't Accolade purchased by infogrames.
The end times are near !
@tabris95
What could possibly go right ?
@tabris95 I was hoping that someone stated this.
@Wazeddie22
A very bad try hard " mascot platformer" from the 90's.
The little git had 4 games and they were all ranging from mediocre to MEIN EYES THE GOGGLES DO NOTHING. ( look up Bubsy 3D on youtube to gaze upon the full horror )
@KitsuneNight I'e played worse sadly.
Didn't see that coming, played his games on SNES and Genesis but stayed away from the PS game.
Lord have mercy on us all. Though if this has happened of all things, maybe stuff like Klonoa and Ape Escape could come back?
I'm surprised the revival didn't happen through Kickstarter; we're talking about a company that crept under a rock for almost 2 decades, and decided to come back when their mascot became relevant again. Their funding for this game raises as many questions as Tommy Wiseau's funding for The Room! Where are they getting this money from?!
If its filled with humour I could be interested, I like the style for sure.
This is hilarious. I played the first game on Genesis. Never played the 3D game on PSone.
Theres E3's biggest secret reveal leaked........
OH DEAR GOD NO!
I'm sorry but whoever thought reviving BUBSY was a good idea needs to be fired right now & never allowed to work in gaming again
Accolade wtf?!
A great Mega Drive game back in the day. Literally never heard of a Playstation version til just now.
I remember having fun playing the snes game as a kid but I never played the 3D one. Sounds like I didn't miss mutch.
BUT, ACCOLADE Return?, ACCOLADE?!, the same of Test Drive?!, wow, If Eden Games also return in a great mobile racing game (and for switch coming soon), Atari looks return for a new page of console gaming, now Accolade, oh my, oh my, oh my!!!
This years is the return of dead companies?!, then, Data East, Microprose, SETA, I choose you!!, hehe
