And just like that, E3 2017 is over. The annual Los Angeles expo is a funny thing - especially from the perspective of those who watch it unfold from home. Here at Push Square, we spend weeks anticipating it, then we spend hours upon hours planning for it. Then when it finally rolls around, we destroy our sleeping patterns so that we can cover it. And then, in what seems like the blink of an eye, the whole thing is done and dusted, and it's back to the usual routine.
But now that 2017's iteration really is over, we want to know what you lot thought of it. Not just the press conferences, but everything; the livestreams, the off-stage announcements, the general quality of the games on show - everything. Are you happy with what you saw? Are you disappointed? Did you think the whole thing was a waste of time? Whatever your opinion, be sure to vote in our polls and then feed us your thoughts in the comments section below.

it was OK, i found all of the conferences to be pretty meh this year but we did get to see some great games
Forza 7 looked really good as did Dragon Ball FighterZ, also for the first time in years i'm actually intrigued by an Assassin's Creed game
God of War, Spider-Man, Metro, Anthem and many others also caught my eye, not to mention Nintendo laying down a Meyroid Prime 4 AND a Metroid 2 remake
game wise it was great, but the conferences themselves were kinda boring
@FullbringIchigo So do you think the actual games on show deserved to be shown at better conferences?
@ShogunRok yeah, the way they presented them felt like i was in a meeting at work, they needed a bit more "glitz and glamour" if you know what i mean
@FullbringIchigo Yeah I think I probably agree!
It was good to see some game play from games I was interested in. I like that games weren't revealed to early, I prefer a surprise to be close to launch or a maximum 18 months.
Ive avoided going on other sites, the fanboys mentality is crazy from the vocal minority, it's a plastic games machine if you like it and the price is right get it if not don't. There's so much more important things to care about. That said I'm happy with my pro and unhappy with my free time, still waiting for someone to sell me some free time for all the great games and enjoy life. Enjoy the future games everyone, looks like something for everyone.
It was fine. Nintendo's conference was my favorite, but Sony, Ubisoft, and Bethesda has some pleasant surprises as well! And boy, that Devolver Digital conference was... something.
I never really watch the actual conferences only all the gameplay vids afterwards. There were some tasty games on show but only a handful that really interest me.
For me, I thought E3 was pretty good. I knew not every game would appeal going in and that some briefings would be kind of poor in terms of presentation - although I expected this to come from Ubisoft. Every presentation though had 'several' games that grabbed my interest. EA with SW:BF2, Anthem and to a lesser degree NFS:Payback, MS with Forza, Metro, Anthem and AC:O, Bethesda with Wolfenstein and Evil Within, Ubisoft with AC:O and FC5 - not convinced by BG&E2 after waiting years for it and Sony with Horizon DLC, Uncharted, Days Gone, Spider-Man and to a lesser degree GoW. Other games shown outside of the pressers and some of the smaller games (like Ori in particular) also impressed. So overall it was 'good' but I think last years had more 'big' new surprises overall...
Now we have 5 months of gaming before the next one. Woooo!
I think my E3 got off on the wrong foot by watching that EA conference, I dont' think I ever recovered. I'll make sure to skip it next year. And skip Ubi's too, even though it was good. And MS. I think I O'd before I even got to the ones I wanted to watch, Sony and Nintendo.
And Sony had too many games w/ 2018 dates, or no date at all.
Nintneod had a lot of games that reminded me Wii U would have been 5 years old this holiday, so some of those games - Kirby, Yoshi, Mario - probably should have been on Wii U last holiday or this holiday. Now I need to buy a switch to play them.
And where are KH3, FF7R, DQ11, and Dreams? And while I don't really care about RDR2 I do feel like that would have brought much needed energy to E3 overall.
So to summarize my personal E3:
A lot of games I want weren't there
Games I do want I have to wait who knows how long for
Other games I want I need to buy a new console for even though those games probably started development and were meant to release on the one I own
So I'm still having a hard time separating my own personal feelings from my objective opinion.
Next year should be better, I'll have a Switch, most of the Sony games should be dated by then if they aren't out yet, and I'll skip everything else. Learn from my mistakes.
I enjoyed it especially by just reading my favourite sites like this one and watching PlayStation Access videos of news. I never bother watching those livestreams though .
Just watched the PlayStation Access guys playing something called Kingdom Come : Deliverance , that was totally under my radar , it looks brilliant.
Aside from Sony's being somewhat disappointing and EA's being awful it was pretty solid. Bethesda announced two great looking new games and Ubisoft actually had a very solid conference.
Sony did alright but most of the games we already knew about, but Nintendo and Ubisoft blew it out of the water with some stunning game reveals.
It's a good show, sony conference is not as good as previous year though.
Lots of hype.
Very little substance.
Sequels galore.
The usual then.
I thought it was good. I only care about the games and have no interest in the conferences. Did watch half of Sony's stream here on the site.
@rjejr in case you missed it, Kh3 had a trailer right before e3. It was great and they said another one is coming in July.
Kingdom hearts 3
Anthem
Spiderman
God of war
Days gone
Skyrim vr
Uncharted lost legacy
Mario odyssey
Lots of good games. Few jaw dropping moments (Spider-Man, skyrim vr, kingdom hearts) but overall very good.
It was Sonys worst conference in years. E3 in general was good though.
I liked it quite a bit. 3rd parties and indies impressed me at E3. Even the safer bets from the big3 caught my attention.
The rest of 2017 is packed with great game variety.
I enjoyed the E3 sessions that I joined with Pushsquare, they were fun!
Overall, I would say the games were good, I was disappointed on a few points as I didn't get what I want. However, I have releases I want pretty much every month until 2018 and then the mad cycle begins again so who can complain. No real showstoppers (as much as a fan as I am of Metroid, just showing a logo does very little for me other than tell me I have a long time to wait for it!).
@ztpayne7 I did see that KH3 trailer thanks, now my son keeps referring to the guy in XC2 as Sora. It didn't feel like part of E3 though. Sony even moved the NNK2 trailer to the pre-presser so they could focus on their big hitters.
I am glad NNK2 got dated, and XC2 is still "2017", but they didn't really feel like a big part of E3. I'm 100% confident next year will be better.
@FullbringIchigo Couldn't agree more on the Double Metroid announcement, definitely the show stealer this year.
I was excited for Spider-Man........ till I saw it running in-game at this E3 and then yawwwwwwned after realising it was infamous in a Spider-Man suit.
Half excited for God of War as was a huge fan of one and two, bored of 3 and ascension. Thought this might revitalise the IP a little. It didn't for me.
Wanted a lot more out of Sony this year apart from further evidencing they are less and less about games and more and more about monopolising the market and ramming advertising campaigns in peoples faces.
"Wanted a lot more out of Sony this year apart from further evidencing they are less and less about games and more and more about monopolising the market and ramming advertising campaigns in peoples faces."
What does this even mean? It's like a bunch of words that you've put together that don't really say anything at all. Like, what are you getting at? Genuine question.
@rjejr I know it wasn't technically e3 but it was so close to it (few days) and that's more than we usually get this time of year, so in my heart it counts. Haha. Can't wait to see more in July.
Between a lack of release dates, no big surprises, and Sony's backwards stance on Cross-Play, they're not looking too good to me coming off of E3. Of the big 3 first parties, I think sony did the worst. Nintendo first, Microsoft second, and Sony third by a mile. This is coming from someone who owns all three companies consoles.
Sony did okay. It was mixed. Nintendo saved E3, honestly. Everything else was meh.
Sony's press conference was rather good, Nintendo's was alright, and I wasn't too interested in what Microsoft had to show. Overall, E3 felt a little lackluster this year.
@Hero_of_Hyrule
Psx, i m coming!!!
Don't get me wrong I'm a big Nintendo fan, but I just don't see what all the Ninty fans are so excited about!
Odyssey and Rabbids look amazing. Metroid 4 will be superb and I've wanted that for years, but all they showed was a logo! It's great but hardly worthy of all the praise they're getting imo.
If they had Metroid 4 footage, a new Wave Race, Pilotwings, Excitebike/truck etc etc now THAT would be a show...
[Edit - I should say the Metroid 2 remake looks friggin awesome, I'm gutted I sold my 3DS now ]
