The new Spider-Man game for the PlayStation 4 has been incredibly well received, winning our Game of the Show gong by a country mile. But if there’s been any criticism levelled at the exclusive, it’s been the slow swinging speed. That’s prompted developer Insomniac Games to come out and clarify: it’s all skill-based, and proficient players will move faster.
“Skilled players can move faster than we showed [in the E3 2017 demo],” a spokesperson for the studio wrote on social media. “We wanted to keep the helicopter in view.” Which all makes sense of course: we’re looking forward to seeing Spidey bolt his way through the city in future demos of the game.

Would be great if the have a run the gauntlet/parkour type courses with online table of top times.
@YETi Other Spidey games have had time trials, so this probably wouldn't be out of the question.
Something that almost definitely won't happen is the return of the pizza delivery mini game, which is a darned shame.
@Quintumply Sorry never played the the other games but thanks for letting me know.
Thats somewhat lame, not game changing though, I am still interested in the game. I have Amazing Spidey 2 on PS4 and still boot it from time to time to take a web slinging stroll in New York.
Just like Batman's gliding, it takes a little bit of skill to keep him in the air, the result was more fun that way.
My game of the show keep getting better
I didn't even really think the swinging was bad. The QTE's and almost directly copy pasted rhythm based combat from the arkham games are what I'm worried about.
But does it have skill based pizza delivery? https://youtu.be/czTksCF6X8Y
This seemed quite obvious in the demo and I don't think it looked that slow either. I remember playing the first Spiderman game on the Gamecube and he was basically swinging automatically from the clouds, so I'm more than happy to have a skill based system even if it is apparently slower

I guess it's another case of Git Gud.
Great headline!
Why so slow, bruh? I almost burst out laughing when everyone else is quiet!
Its a lot better thats its skill-based, i don't like games what play themselves so i'm happy about this.
