Opened with a bang... Downhill from there.
Waaay better than I expected
Poor. AC: Origins looks cool and I've always liked that series except for 3 so I'll buy that. Far Cry 5 is a maybe, everything else? Disappointing, especially BG&E 2. Seemed cool, then they told us what it's really about.
I really enjoyed the conference - good mix of games, and a really snappy pace. Good stuff
Honestly in my opinion they guys at ubisoft are too subdued. I think they actually suffered a bit because of this.
Their conferences in years past probably would have had the same issue but they made up for it with Aisha Tyler's energy and enthusiasm.
That being said... I am excited for AC. Origins and Far Cry 5. The Mario rabbids game looks good as well.
Everything else was kinda meh...
the live chat here on pushsquare made it more fun! but I went in with low expectations and I'm glad I did, it was great in the end.
@get2sammyb I love how Skull and Bones sucked the wind out of Microsoft's sails (lol) when it comes to Sea of Thieves. Just on a graphical point, it looked far superior to SoT's. I enjoyed the battles in black flag so I'm more inclined to lean towards SaB. What did you make of it?
Both Skull & Bones and Beyond Good & Evil 2 crushed my excitement with the word 'online'. I kept wishing and expecting to see 'Black Flag 2' come up during the pirate game reveal.
It was one of the best so far, far better that Microsoft. Love the idea of the Mario game, far cry 5 looks good, assassin creed looks amazing and beyond good and evil looks great will love to see gameplay in the future
Games looked impressive visually but just when I thought they would go that 1 extra step and entice me to buy, they ruined it with Online only, Shared World, 'toys' etc. I was excited by a Pirates game and it looked good but no real story it seems. Same with BG&E2. Only game I am likely to buy is AC:O - mainly because that looks like it could be an interesting Single Player world and Story...
MS's was far better - AC:O, Metro, Anthem, Forza, Shadow of War, Some interesting (if not exciting) Indie, Japanese and Budget games and a Console that will make ALL these, and Wolfenstein, Evil Within, SW:BF2, Destiny2, CoD, RDR2 etc etc look fantastic in 4k....
Of the events so far, Ubisoft's has been the best. That's my opinion.
I would agree that Ubisoft has had the best presser so far.
A delightful surprise.
@BAMozzy
Pretty much matches my opinion on this E3 so far. I'm really hoping that Sony blows the roof off the place tonight though, because so far I'm not seeing too many interesting games on the horizon.
Hell of a lot better than I was expecting.
Only thing I was really hoping for was a new Splinter Cell. Nothing else really caught my interest. Maybe next year?
Best conference this year so far, I think. Lots of really strong looking titles, decent pace, good variety, and very little traditional Ubisoft cringe. Ending with Beyond Good & Evil 2 was the cherry on top. Great work, Ubi!
Absolutely loved it;
TRPG Mario Rabbids
SouthPark
That VR thingy
Beyond good and evil
Pirates!
No man's Lego toys
Crew 2 Diddy Kong racing
and
Just Dance ftw
Great conference. Just Dance 2017 was such an improvement over JD2016, I'll be there day one for Just Dance 2018.
The Crew 2, Skull & Bones and BG&E2 also looked really good.
Crap for about 40 minutes, then it was pretty good.
@Gamer83 EA's most interesting was Anthem but I liked SWBF2 too although we already knew about SWBF2, Bethesda had Wolfenstein and Evil Within but were rumoured a year ago and leaked before announced.
MS had a few big surprises - like Metro, Ori and the Japanese games. We knew Anthem would be shown and guessed AC:O would be. We also knew Shadow of War would be there but I think people expected 'more' - at least 1 or 2 first party exclusives so fell a bit flat but that doesn't mean that the games shown were poor.
So far I am more optimistic with the future of games than I was before E3 and think there are more interesting games on the Horizon than I previously anticipated. Like I said, before E3, October looked quite 'empty' but now I have AC:O, Wolfenstein and Evil Within to look forward to.
I know 'most' of the games I want from Sony - don't know when many will release and some I have been wanting to see more of for 2yrs+. Seeing 'new' gameplay from Spider-Man, GoW, Days Gone etc isn't going to improve my vision of the future in terms of 'interesting' games on the Horizon - they were already on it so its not increasing that. I would be 'surprised' if Sony add more than 1-2 games to my 'wanted' list - fingers crossed though...
I will say though, I was impressed by the Visual Quality of a lot of EA's games - looks like they are a step up from last years... Wonder if they will end up like Watchdogs, the Division etc and get downgraded closer to launch...
Absolutely horrible. Every game but AC, and South Park was mp. I understand you've got to have some but that's all the conference was. Even as excited as I was when they announced BG&E2 I cringed as I waited for them to ruin it with some mp aspect. Sony plz save E3 again. Your the only publisher that knows what it's doing.
We've seen ubisoft at their most cringe-inducing and this was not Cringe-inducing so job well done Ubisoft!
Loved it!! Mario & Rabbids, The Crew 2, AC origins, Just Dance 2018 all definite purchases. The Skylanders style space game is interesting too as i have boys that would love it but depends on how much they're charging for these things. All in all it has been the best conference for me thus far from a games standpoint. As a show itself it of course had the usual Ubi cringe moments we have come to expect but the knocked it out of the park on the games side for me.
Best conference so far.
Skull & Bones, Mario + Rabbids, Starlink, the two South Park games, and BG&E2 were excellent.
Just Sony and Nintendo left...
Yes! The best so far! By a large margin!
Mario Rabbids looks awesome somehow! Farcry 5 won me back! BEYOND GOOD & EVIL 2!!!!!
Interesting to see some complaints about the number of multiplayer games though.
Better get used to it folks - that's where the industry is heading.
I thought it was a fantastic presser all around. I'm not sureness if ditching Aishia Tyler is what den it better but it had a good flow. Also, I'm pumped for AC: Origins, Far Cry 5, and the Crew 2. Skull and Bones and that spaceship game look cool as well
I was really happy to see a nice variety from Ubi Soft, with new IP and non-Ubi brand™ Open World games making up the bulk of their presentation. I really can't stand their "AAA" garbage most of the time, so seeing nothing like Ghost Recon or Watch_Dogs made me happy. And even though I won't personally play Assassin's Creed, I do really love that setting. Not nearly enough games take place in Ancient Egypt and that's a shame. Same thing with Far Cry 5, Steep and Crew 2; for people who like those games, glad they're making somewhat interesting looking entries next.
Starlink was a complete surprise, and actually seems pretty cool. The story stuff seems to be around Star Wars Rebels quality visually, which is great for kids, and the ship toys look kind of rad. Meanwhile Mario x Rabbids seems crazy and its super bizarre that Nintendo's fine with giving them hand cannons and having everyone communicate with monosyllabic expressions, but it LOOKS really nice (like, visually, I like those colors and that renderer on everything, and the animations all around are fantastic) with some cool-looking turn-based combat. And South Park, as always, looks pretty great.
But just seeing Beyond Good & Evil 2 made my day. Don't care if its pre-rendered; seeing it again is fantastic! Its such a cool world, and its so great to see the modern realization of that world. Same junky hover vehicles, same people/anthro animals mix, same afro-futurist-meets-cyberpunk setting... it just looks LOADS better now. And while I'd normally be down on barely seeing Jade (well, we saw her eyes at the end there, I guess) and no Pey'J at all, you GOTTA love Knox. Monkey dude with a grapple hand? C'MON! They saved the best for last, it was a genuine surprise considering Ancel said we'd only maybe see it later in the year (and to be fair, he may have been referring to in-game, real-time stuff), and I'm thrilled to see Ubi re-commit to the title, big-time.
They had a good number of things to show and a lot of it were pleasantly surprising. They had the best press conference so far, easily, ahead of Microsoft and WAY OUT ahead of EA and Bethesda (who were both kind of snooze-fests). Color me impressed.
I'm looking forward to playing Beyond: Good & Evil 2, Assassin's Creed: Origins, Far Cry 5, and South Park: The Fractured But Whole.
The lack of #girlwood disappointed me.
Farcry won me over with gameplay, BGE2, Skulls and Bones, 3 great games I'll throw my money at.
And yeah oh my, South Park too!
Many interesting games.
But kinda hard to be excited knowing that most of these games will incorporate MMO element or shared online as they like to call it...
Even Beyond Good & Evil 2 sound like MMO-ish...
This was the best presser I've seen so far. I liked a lot of the games, glad to see more VR support and also Switch support. Thought the format was ok and better than expected. Not too many cringey moments.
The only issue for me is Ubisofts new sales perogative which is to make every game MP, online and to try and keep people playing with 'seasons' (whatever that means). The Skull and Bones looked good until I realised it was The Division or For Honor on water.
I don't have an issue around MP but there is still a significant proportion of players who want meaningful SP campaigns. When they basically admitted that Beyond was another online experience my hype drained.
Bge2 looks interesting but why only shows cgi.
