E3 2017 is over, which means that we’re ready to actually play games again – as opposed to just talk about them. The summer months may be in full swing, but the PlayStation 4 gaming calendar ain’t looking any quieter. Here’s what we’re playing this weekened.
Robert Ramsey, Associate Editor
After weeks of preparation and gruelling late nights of conference coverage, E3 2017 has come to an end. I didn't think this year's show was anything amazing, but watching so many games in action has got me hankering for a good old fashioned weekend of gaming. I'll be spending plenty of time with The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind, and I plan on working my way through WipEout Omega Collection's various campaigns. Variety is the spice of life and all that.

I am absolutely blazing through my backlog lately, having tackled Outlast 2, Rime, Small Radios Big Televisions, Job Simulator, Farpoint, and replaying Oxenfree. Up next is a decidedly longer game, as I'm looking to finally crack open my Danganronpa 1-2 Remasters as I've been holding off on playing those for months at this point. Hopefully this time I actually play them!

I didn’t really take to Horizon: Zero Dawn the first time, having gotten about 15 hours in and given up, but I’m going to give it another chance this weekend. I also have Night in the Woods to play at some point which looks really wonderful, so I might also make some time for that.

While I'll be spending most of my time knocking out my last round of summer class schoolwork a week early, I'd like to make a bit of time to play some Overwatch with my friends. However, since I finally picked up Horizon: Zero Dawn for a great price, I might just have to sneak a couple hours in to begin my journey as Aloy, too. The game might just end up being my favorite PlayStation exclusive of 2017. We'll see!

So with all the sales going on I managed to snag Battlefield 1, so I will be playing that. Also a bit of The Crew and Portal Knights with my son.
So that's what we're playing this weekend, but what about you? Share your itinerary in the comments section below.

I'm gonna play overwatch, something vr (maybe farpoint or thumper), and probably try to finish up dream drop distance hd.
HZD & I just bought Shantae: half genie hero fun game 👌🏽
I have to go back to Bloodborne #BackInYharnam
I worked on my backlog of games recently now just a little left though
Seeing all those amazing games coming over E3 I realized the chances of ever clearing my backlog now are at zero per cent.so I'm not going to panic but just accept it
So this weekend will be Persona 5,Dragon Quest Heroes 2 and Lego Harry Potter.
Hmm ploughing through Zelda now, trying to do all shrines before confronting Calamity gammon steak. Got a PS3 and ps2 cheap so going to dip back into Gun and set up the PS3. If I get time for anything else it will probably be Resi 7.
Not slowing down this weekend as I continue on with ESO Morrowind. Got to level 50 on my Warden a couple days ago and finally moved on to questing in Vvardenfell. Really enjoying the zone so far and it has some really good quest lines.
I also decided to pick up Injustice 2. When it comes to fighting games I'm what you'd call a button-masher, and not a particularly successful one at that, but I really enjoyed the first game and since I love the DC universe it had to happen eventually. Looking forward to playing through the story.
Gunrunning - GTA Online.
Finally finished Horizon last night and just unlocked the last Tallneck and finished the last Cauldron so I think I'm about done with this now until the DLC.
Not sure what to play next...Hmmm
The evil within again from scratch and its utterly fantastic.
Well I will be doing some traveling and tomorrow going to see U2 in concert. Finally get to see them. With what time I do have it will be Injustice 2 and Far Cry Primal.
i might play Overwatch or i might finish those last few secret dungeons on FFXV
unless my PS4 has melted of course because it's BLOODY hot here right now
All I play any more is ark survival evolved. Split screen share playing with a good friend. Share play is my favorite thing about my ps pro.
Having finished the techinally flawed genius that is Mafia 3, I think I need to play something a bit more linear. Any ideas guys?
I'm going for the Platinum in Horizon this weekend. Or I'll start a new game. You get the idea, I'll be playing Horizon.
Injustice 2, Tekken 7 on PS4. Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem Echoes, and Monster Hunter Generations on 3DS.
I was all set for some more roaming around Far Harbour, but then I fired up the copy of Ratchet and Clank that's been sitting on our games shelf since Christmas and oh man, it's as good as everyone said. My Sole Survivor is at level 72 - everything we've been through and he's had his nose shoved out by a lombax, he must be gutted.
Got Arms yesterday so I will be on that. AI is surprisingly hard.
On PS3 I am wrapping up the Diva F platinum and finishing the last floor on KH CoM.
PS4: Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance
PSVita: Final Fantasy 2
Having a lot of fun with KH 3D. Flow motion adds a whole new dimension to the gameplay, although it does feel OP.
Not really enjoying FF2, but I'll have to force myself through that one. A JRPG without a character level sure feels strange.
Mostly watching playstation post e3 content on youtube.
Rogue Legacy, I will get you, slime boss,...eventually.
Jamestown+
Alienation, must consult a guide regarding the upgrade system...
I need to focus more on one game at a time.
@LobsterJohnson The Bunker or Geometry Wars 3
This weekend I'm gonna try and finish off more of Berserk, typical music fighter which I like however the anime section has finished and it's now some garbled fantasy tripe written by KT themselves. It's a total shambles. The first 2" arcs are great then the KT writing kicks In. It so bad.
@Blubb wait until neo slime
That's a harder version of the boss.
Planning to fit in some Horizon:ZD, won't have time for much else as we're in silage season atm. Nearing the end of Horizon, just working through the main quest where I've reached Sunfall. Have a couple of corrupted zones to complete then I think I'm on coarse for the plat too
@themcnoisy thanks for the suggestions. Decided to go for Doom in the end though. Happy gaming
@LobsterJohnson Doom is the nuts.
PS4- The Show 17 and maybe some Horizon
3ds - Animal Crossing
@Fight_Teza_Fight Yeah FF2's Level system was strange but once you get used to it, it's actually a pretty decent FF game with some interesting features such as the Key Word feature
Persona 5, Persona 5, Persona 5, Tekken 7, and maybe some Persona 5. Unfortunately, I'll have to spend most of Sunday working.
I'm definitely playing horizon I'm in love with it 😂 but it will be spliting my attention with jak and daxter on ps vita (gotta get that platinum!)
Well I finally caved and bought a pro. The 3 usb slots are a necessity and the extra storage is nice, but seeing as I'm currently limited to 1080p on my tv in the man cave the benefits are far from apparent. Anyway, I've been playing Wipeout Omega Collection in the hopes that I might one day challenge Ami Nakajima to a race and win (unlikely) and Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor just because it's great. I reinstalled Wolfenstein as well.
@JAMes-BroWWWn Should You Require Another Blade I'm Happy to assist.
I finished Persona 5 in the week. There's now a Persona shaped hole in my life!
Earlier I started Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep 0.2. I doubt I'll do Dream Drop Distance yet but I fancied giving the new bit a whirl.
Handheld I'm continuing with Trails in the Sky Second Chapter. It's awesome but I wish the combat was a little bit faster.
Currently at work, but plan to pick back up on Wolfenstein The New Order tonight.
I'm pushing hard on the main story for Horizon, currently stuck in a cauldron with a Thunderjaw which is nice. Other than this maybe a bit of Farpoint or maybe back to Until Dawn to see if anyone will actually survive to the end.
After reading the above comment I'm gonna give Wolfenstein The Old Blood another go too
I am all about racing game now: dirt4, project cars and Wipeout omega collection. Life is beautiful... and fast!
@carlos82 @Dohv Loved The New Order, but didn't finish TOB.
My young nephew is visiting and he brought his Xbox One and some games I don't have. My wife and I started playing his Lego Movie game the other night and hopefully will get a chance again tonight. I also played his Forza Horizon 3. I'm not a huge lover of racing games so I wouldn't have ever bought FH3, but I'm really enjoying it and glad I'm getting a chance to play without ever buying it. He's 7 and thinks it's boring...maybe I should keep it! 😜
@kyleforrester87 I seemed to have owned The Old Blood forever but only played a few levels and strangely never bought The New Order (yet). I think I fell out of love with FPS's for some time but Doom rekindled that so I'm gonna play through both before Wolfenstein 2 and Doom VFR come out 😃.
Loving Horizon at the moment though
Horizon zero dawn... Persona 5 and switch sold out..
@carlos82 Doom manages to be an awesome shooter without a heavy plot. Plot takes a back seat in The Old Blood, and the gameplay doesn't hold up as well as Doom, so overall it isn't as effective as The New Order. Just my opinion of course and maybe playing TOB first is a better way to do it, I just had very high expectations!
And yeah Horizon is very good, i didn't expect to like it honestly but it gets so much right, and Aloy is a great lead. And it looks absolutely face meltingly stunning.
@FullbringIchigo I'm about 4 hours in now and I'm getting used to it. I like the ask/learn feature a lot.
I tend to overlevel in JRPGs and now that levels have been taken away, that safety blanket is gone- but I like it. Didn't realise how much I relied on a number .
@kyleforrester87 that gameplay loop of super shotgun followed by a glory kill is so satisfying, here's hoping they've taken some lessons for Wolfenstein 2. I'll be picking the first up soon because as you say there isn't much story in The Old Blood and I like a good plot
NieR: Automata and Tekken 7
@kyleforrester87 did u get the plat?
Playing the surge, prey, and maybe fallout 4. If that doesn't work out I'll play some Victor vran, that's actually a pretty decent game so far. Also playing around with dying light a little, saw where they are gonna release more dlc so I figure it must be a ok game. Seems cool so far, kinda hard, I guess your just supposed to run....😀
Out of station this weekend but finished Doom on Thursday. What a game , loved it. Has become one of my favs this gen. Back to evil within which I'm more excited since they announced the sequel. Titan fall 2 also on queue- got it on sale during e3
@ellsworth004 Which game? Either way the answer is no, I'm not very good at platinuming games despite best intentions haha. Something new always grabs my attention. I'm on the road to a Hyper Light Drifter platinum, but beyond that we'll see.
If you mean Horizon I'm thinking I might try for that around the time the DLC comes out.
Dirt 4
Yup that's it.
Destiny, Watchdogs 2 (it's pretty terrible given up), I also tried getting back into Mortal Kombat X (can't be bothered with fighters anymore unless it's Soul Calibur), started up my Dark Souls III campaign, playing a little Star Wars Battlefront too, played a few of the free to play and PS Plus games too (pretty much all crap)
@kyleforrester87 yeah was talking about HZD. I found it to be a pretty easy Platinum, I guess the only trophy I found hard was some of the hunting grounds. Especially the one with the big robot T-Rex, I forget it's name.
@ellsworth004 Yeah it does seem pretty straight forward. I do kinda like to keep some challenges open on games I like so there is always a reason to go back, even if I do not manage to get round to it in the end.
