E3 2017 is a distant memory and the temperatures have dipped to a somewhat more agreeable level (at least here in the UK, anyway) so it’s time to settle down for some serious gaming. With the release schedule slowly starting to thin ahead of the summer months, we have the distinct feeling that backlogs are going to take centre stage over the coming days. Here’s what we’re playing.

My mission to clear my bulging backlog begins with Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, a game which I’m thoroughly enjoying thus far. It’s got a unique structure for a CoD campaign, but the action is top-notch as you’d expect, and there are a lot of cool sci-fi gadgets. Good game.

I was planning to play through another couple of the storylines in Code Realize but as I’ve just been sent a copy of God Wars: Future Past that will take up most of my weekend!
Ken Talbot, Reviewer
I'll be running laps and squeezing microseconds off my corner times in DiRT 4 and hitting meta humans with a mallet as Harley in Injustice 2.
Liam Croft, Reviewer
I'll be finishing up my playthrough of Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair from the PS4 remastered collection this weekend. A great game on its own, but I don't think it quite matches the quality of the original, Trigger Happy Havoc. After that I'll be looking to start either Tales of Berseria or Kingdom Hearts, a series I am yet to dip my toes into.
Sam Brooke, Reviewer
It'll just be FIFA 17 and NBA 2K17 for me this weekend, as I continue my career modes in each game. The former follows the story of plucky League Two minnows Morecombe as they make their way to the Champions League, the latter is basically me calling for the ball excessively before being subbed off.
Stephen Tailby, Reviewer
My gaming time this weekend will primarily be spent driving myself insane with Nex Machina, Housemarque's latest twin-stick triumph. I may also further my progress in WipEout Omega Collection if I grow weary of high octane, hard as nails arcade thrills... Wait!
Victor Nowogurski, Moderator
Well, right now two games have their hooks in me: The Crew and Portal Knights. I seriously can't stop playing these two games. So that is what I will be playing this weekend.
That's what we're playing, but what about you? Are you delving into your backlog, or playing something brand new? Show you know the drill in the comments section below.

PS4 - NieR: Automata
Switch - ARMS
I got Nex Machina but that's on the back burner until I'm done with Wipeout. So yeah just 2048 for me this weekend I reckon.
Hitman, i got it in the sale
Horizon Zero Dawn for the second time
wipeout, street fighter and p5
Hopefully if my friend gets it Installed a few of us will be playing dead by daylight
PS4: Doom, Nex Machina
PSVita: Final Fantasy 2
Chewing through the backlog and finally got to Doom! For the first 4 hours or so I thought it was very average, but after a certain point the campaign has just gone from strength to strength! It's awesome! Campaign is fairly lengthy it seems, so should I finish it I may start Yakuza 0 & throw in some Nex Machina.
Also playing FF2 on vita- which is great!!
For me it is marching my way towards the Injustice2 plat while at the same time grinding guild points. Anyone who wants to help feel free and join 1CX1E. I will also knock out episode 2 "Under Pressure" of Guardians of the Galaxy Telltale. Finally as I do some summer backlog work I will rip through a few more chunks of Far Cry Primal which I have been really enjoying.
Berserk - Endless eclipse marching towards 50 levels
Wipeout Omega - Attempting to the crack the 65 zones trophy (died at 63)
Nex Machina - Going for an experienced run or 5.
Im pretty much Stephen Talliby this weekend.
Ps4 valkyrie chronicles
Monday looking for a switch the misses agreed
Horizon Zero Dawn . 41 hours in . I just discovered the awesomeness of the tear arrows .
@tasuki - I want to like The Crew, but I have troubles with how the car handles. I'm struggling with not crashing all the time. Is that just me or do you have issues too? Or am I doing something wrong? lol
Mopping up side quesrs on Horizon zero dawn before finishing the story and in between ill be taking revenge on some Gods in God of War 3
@MadAussieBloke how is that in the PS4? I heard people were having troubles getting into the game when it first came out. Has that been better?
@Fight_Teza_Fight Doom is such a good game. Although, due to the frenetic pace I am finding it difficult to play for long periods.
PS Vita: Gravity Rush
PS4: PES 17 & Doom
Arkham Asylum. This game is still the best one, it's fantastic. I'll be grinding in the behemoth that never leaves the charts, GTA Online, too.
@Rogueleader76 All I can say is keep trying. Try messing around with the options such as steering sensitivity. Also check to see if you have the driving help on, Most people when playing the game set it to either sport or hardcore. You can also try different cars and see how they handle, for example the Mustang has better grip then say the Challenger making it easier to corner with.
Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 the game is solid offline.
G.T.A.5 online .
I'm in a very DC mood so as well as some multiverse stuff in Injustice 2 (in my quest to get Superman up to level 20) I just started Arkham Asylum, having picked up the remasters in the store sale.
I'll undoubtedly also play my usual helping of ESO. Finished Morrowinds main story but still got plenty to explore.
Either overwatch or assassins creed syndicate (just started this week). I started thumper in vr for the first time this week, and I also need to do more in farpoint.
And then to really change it up, I saw a let's play of don't starve so I fired that back up from when it was free in January 2014. I starved.
@Fight_Teza_Fight I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Final Fantasy 2. Really good remake!
I've got back into Breath of the Wild after putting it to one side to play Persona 5. I'm enjoying it more than I was before, maybe because the launch hype period is over and I've got a fresh perspective. Before I got a bit burnt out and it felt like busy work but this time it doesn't. I'm just enjoying exploring and finishing shrines. I've been actively avoiding enemies this time because I don't want to waste my good weapons! I'm currently in the Death Mountain area.
Also playing Dragon Quest Heroes 2. I'm nearing the end and have enjoyed it quite a lot, although it seems more difficult than the original.
After that I think I'll start Kingdom Hearts 2 on the PS3. I was going to buy the PS4 mega collection but that seems a bit silly.
On the handheld front I've stagnated a bit. I normally play handheld games in the evening but have been watching Better Call Saul and reading instead.
I just finished Horizon last night so maybe Persona 5 or some more Uncharted 2.
Dirt 4, some tekken 7, wanna try wipeout omega is it worth it?
PS4- Tekken 7, Injustice 2, And King of Fighters 14.
Switch- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Wonder Boy, and Blazing Star.
3DS- Animal Crossing New Leaf, Monster Hunter Generations, and Pokémon Sun.
Little nightmare, wipeout omega, next machina, and trying to reach lvl 99 in nier automata for the dlc.
Finished Journey on the PS4 yesterday, and will probably start playing an Indonesian survival horror game called Dreadout tomorrow night on PC. In the meantime, I'm nearing the end of Princess Velvet's campaign in Odin Sphere: Leifthrasir on my Vita.
I started 'The Bunker' the other day but wasn't enjoying it early on so I quit out. Need to get back into that at some point and give it another try.
Also in my backlog, I still need to finish up the latest couple of Walking Dead: New Frontier episodes, as well as playing some more Forza Horizon 3 (sorry, Quantic Dream).
All that said, I might not get much gaming done this weekend what with Glastonbury being on as well. Radiohead were awesome last night and I'm pretty stoked for the Foo Fighters to finally take to the stage tonight.
Going to try and get Platinum for the surge this weekend. After that I may finally start Witcher 3.
Evil Within, just completed the game again this time in survival and now playing the dlc.
@Gamer83 how is arms? What switch game would you recommend?
Destiny
Super Mario Sunshine on an old CRT TV, cause I'm moving again, and that's all I currently have (I don't mind it though!).
This weekend is all about Glastonbury rather than gaming. I did use my PS4 to livestream the Radiohead performance. They were ace.
I did complete Life Is Strange this week. Didn't realise it would be so dark and so good.
Yesterday I beat First Light and Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime with my bro, quite a couch co-op gem.
Arms hasn't really caught me so I am still playing Chain of Memories. Beat the story with Sora on Monday so I am playing Riku mode. I want to thank @mookysam and @Fight_Teza_Fight for their advice. When it clicks the card system is satisfying.
I have not been into much gaming over the week cuz being out in that heat for at least 5 plus hours a day has taken its toll on me,so glad it's cooled down and now time to catch up on gaming.
Still going strong on Persona 5,Dragon Quest Heroes 2 and Lego Harry Potter Years 1-4.Plus had a go on PSVR (How We Soar) as its been a while.
Annnnd I even had a go on my 3ds even if it was just to play a demo of Yoshies Wooly World.Last time I used my 3ds was July 2016..
@Sanquine
Congrats. Zelda is a no brainer as well as Mario Kart 8 if you missed it on Wii U. Arms is good but since I don't really like fighting online I haven't enjoyed it as much as I thought I would. Really looking forward to Splatoon 2 next month.
@LobsterJohnson It really is. I'm not really into shooters, but Doom is fantastic. Funny enough I also have short play sessions (60-90mins) due to the pace.
@mookysam I'm surprised at just how much I'm enjoying it. Simple story, but it does have some charm to it. The rank system has grown on me & I love the fact that the 4th party member is always in rotation. Keeps things fresh.
@sinalefa I'm glad you stuck with it! That feeling when it clicks, is like you said incredibly satisfying .
Don't have much time for gaming but will try to squeeze in an episode of tales from the borderlands and some racing in Wipeout and Dirt 4
@Tasuki thanks for the tips. It's a good looking game, I am excited to see more of the game.
PS4: The Show 17, Helldivers, maybe some HZD
3ds: Ever Oasis, Animal Crossing
Playing The Order 1886 on easy mode! Wipeout to gawp at 4k graphics then a weekly fix of Diablo 3. If I complete The Order on Saturday then it's back onto uncharted 4.
I am utterly addicted to Bloodborne. The game is amazing. So glad I took a risk as I really wasn't sure. Other than that, Zelda Botw again. Will eventually finish it!
@Rogueleader76 It is alot of fun. It's a bit more arcadey then say something like Drive Club but still it's alot of fun. Also I forgot to mention that you can do challenges (like jumps, and various other stunts) and get better parts for your car which helps alot with the feel of it and various other aspects.
Genuinely don't know what Jenny is playing. "Code Realize" just takes you to PushSquare's page for Code Vein when clicked
Playing more Dragon Quest Heroes 2 myself. Close to beating it, but holy sh** is it getting frustrating. Game was clearly balanced for multiplayer and online grinding; story missions always yield one of 2 outcomes. You fail, or you get by by the skin of your teeth and don't feel good about it. Mostly because your friendly AI is as useful as a sack of bricks and the drop rate on Sentry-type Monster Medals is abysmal in the sequel (stupid Summon-types). Its really bugging me. Absolute shame people slept/are sleeping on the title, as its super high quality in every way and is super fun online when I have been able to get games going.
Barring progress there, I've got plenty of other RPGs to dive into. And Tekken to keep playing Treasure Battle with. Or online matches, I guess, but c'mon. Who cares about climbing the Kyu/Dan ranks? The reason to play T7 is to get them outfit pieces
@Fight_Teza_Fight
I found I was having issues because I was not using sleights. After loading the deck with Lethal Frames and Sonic Blades everything was mostly smooth. Final boss was surprisingly easy and Vexen only killed me once.
About Doom, game is great but I found it quite tough sometimes. Indeed short sessions are better.
@Fight_Teza_Fight I remember standing around in the castle to listen to the awesome theme over and over. Definitely a better game than 1 and 3 and I think really underrated. Square-Enix did really well with the PSP anniversary remakes, 4 in particular is superb.
@sinalefa You're welcome! I'm glad it clicked for you, it's so satisfying once you get going! Riku's battle style is easier than Sora's I whizzed through his campaign. It did feel like a bit of an afterthought but the story bits provide context for his KH2 appearances.
Titanfall 2. Started early saturday morning. Really really really liking it so far.
Got PSVR in recent sale so playing Star Trek BC offline to get hang of it then will go online next weekend. Then jump fence and watch Rogue One. Hoping to start Life is Strange as well, too scared to look at rest of backlog
Now that I'm home from work, I'll play some Battlefield 1 campaign in a bit. I realized my nephew's Xbox One came with a download code and hadn't been used yet (since Xmas)..so I put it in.
Nex Machina - I might tape my controller to my hand to keep from throwing it at the tv.
Finish all the ending on stein gate 0 last week. Only been playing the game for 6 months. Amazing game. Although not quite as good as stein gate.
So just started playing trail of cold steel 2 on my ps vita. This will be my hightlight for gaming this year. Probably take me 6 months to complete.
Play little bit off zelda, and mk8 on the switch.
Will look into getting my ps4 out off storage at some point. Maybe when the new gow game comes out.
I finally started Tales Of Beseria this weekend, which I'm enjoying so far. I love that the main character Velvet takes no crap & will destroy anything or anyone in her path to get her revenge. A nice change from the goody two shoes characters from the series.
For the next Tales game I hope for the love of god they improve the visuals. Some of the textures look straight out of an N64 game! I'd love to see a Tales game using the graphical style of Guilty Gear Xrd. Do it!!
Play wipeout on vita and then (when I can) purchase adventure time time on the vita since its only 99c
Resident Evil 4. First time ever playing it. It plays really dated in 2017, and the controls are very awkward, but it seems reasonably fun for now.
@Tasuki I loved Burnout Paradise, this game gives me that same feel.
@Rogueleader76 Same here that's what got me to try it. It's like Burnout Paradise X 100.
@Sanquine
It's a fun game once you get the mechanics down. I prefer to play with the Pro controller as a opposed to motion controls but the latter is the way it's meant to be played.
For Switch games I'd recommend... Zelda and Mario Kart are the two obvious ones. Arms I would say it fun but not necessarily must-buy.
Was all about hitman and firewatch for me following PSN sale. Both games I am enjoying way more than I expected to
@Gamer83 @sinalefa i got Mario kart and the switch as a birthday present
@Sanquine
Nice. My friend code is 0198-3768-6880, send me a friend request.
@Sanquine
Cool. If you like couch co op games I also recommend Snipperclips. There is a demo on the shop.
@Gamer83
I will send you one if you dont mind. Mine is 8333-4345-0039. Sanquine, shoot me a request if you like.
After I bought the wheel G29, I'm investing in racer games,I finished and platinum the F1 2016 and now I started F1 2015 and Project Cars.
@Tasuki thanks! I adjusted the steering sensitivity and that made a huge difference!
@Rogueleader76 Nice, glad it helped.
@sinalefa
Yeah, looking to build the friend list, so anybody can send me a request.
@sinalefa @Gamer83 Added you both. My first Nintendo console in like along time..
@Sanquine
Seems like a long time for me too. I owned a Wii U for a few months in 2014 but didn't really use it that much. Last time I regularly gamed on a Nintendo console was the original Wii.
