Nex Machina only just released, but Housemarque is already set to return to the PlayStation 4 with Matterfall in August. And the side-scrolling twin-stick shooter is looking awesome. Embedded above is an eight minute playthrough which details how the game operates, and it’s incredible how faithful it appears to be to the Finnish developer’s DNA.

Looks like what Might No.9 should have played.
I miss Dead Nation and Helldivers. The last games by Housemarque have gone too much into the arcade style for my taste.
@Flurpsel Could not disagree more Dead Nation and Helldivers could not even touch Nex Machima and i think Matterfall will be better to but thats personal.
@Flaming_Kaiser well I think they're very different games. If you like arcade I can understand you like this better.
@JoeBlogs huh, looks like you're right. Not sure where I got that from.
@Flurpsel If you liked Dead Nation and Helldivers, maybe Alienation would be more up your street?
Matterfall is looking pretty good!
@Quintumply yes I had high hopes for Alienation but didnt really like it in the end. I felt like there wasnt enough diversity in weapons and shooting stuff just wasnt super satisfying. Not like Helldivers at least.
Yes, I'm looking forward to this. The boss reminding me of one of the early enemies in megaman x1. Now that I think about it, capcom should hire these guys to make new megaman x game
I wasn't entirely convinced by it, but now having watched this gameplay many times and glad it changed my mind. Gameplay feels good and it looks like the offspring of Outland and Resogun. But Jari (Housmarque) confirmed in the PlayStation E3 interview that they won't use Voxel visuals for Matterfall, they'll use 3D polygons (Wonder why?). Bit disappointed, but I hope it turns out great.
