Jak & Daxter will make the leap of faith to the PlayStation 4 imminently it seems, as all four of Naughty Dog’s classic PlayStation 2 titles have been rated by American ratings board, the ESRB. The titles were confirmed for Sony’s new-gen console some time back – with the Precursor Legacy becoming a pre-order bonus for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy – but the classifications indicate that they’re imminent.
In addition to the primary platforming trilogy, Sony’s also bringing Jak X: Combat Racing to the PS4, which was a vehicular spin-off that released on the PS2 as late as 2005. All of the games will be updated with full Trophy support, and will be integrated into the PS4’s operating system, so you’ll be able to use the Share button, etc.

I loved them on PS2, and bought the remaster on PS3... but I don't think I'll be buying them again. I'd love a NEW J&D game, though.
Jak 2 is still a good game. Or did the weebs ruin that too?
Shame Naughty Dog will never touch these again but I guess some other dev will in 2021 for a remake or something.
I'll probably get these but when do we get a genuinely new Crash, Jak or Ratchet?
Also is the racing one any good? I need a good Kart game that doesn't have plumbers in it
I just bought the shoddy remaster on psvita at a discount lol. I'm a big J&D fan so may pick this up if the price is right.
@BLP_Software Jak 2 is the worst one! Why you always gotta be opposite, BLP?
Can't wait for these, even though I'm two trophies short of the platinum on the vita for Jak 1 I think I'll get it on PS4. Just a month to go
@get2sammyb Ill take 2 over 3 with its vehicles.
@BLP_Software I'm not a massive fan of 3 either TBH. Series went down the pan for me.
I blame the weebs!
So are these Ps2 releases or remasters?
And don't start this madness again @get2sammyb; 1 is the worst. You know it, I know it...
@get2sammyb 3 felt very segmented. 2 was hard as balls in the cold but at least it had focus.
I like my games to be focused.
Plus in my opinion...Naughty Dig and vehicles dont go together XD I think it was a mistake to have such a large focus on driving with such actually kinda dull platforming. Weapons were neat though.
If remade id add the expanded weapon system into Jak 2 tbh. Plus Jak 3 had a change in writing staff hence that weird ending kiss.
I think it suffered in development. Too many cooks.
@AhabSpampurse They're PS2 Classics.
@KratosMD I wasn't trying to compare their absences, more just wishing that we could have some brand new 3D platformers of any kind as these are showing that there is still a market for this type of game.
@get2sammyb the first is the best one for me (and basically Crash 4) before they bizarrely stopped making it a platform game and turned it into a shooting/driving mishmash of a game.
It has been cool to see how Naughty Dog has evolved their games through the years and simply change the character on the box
Omg yasss love jak and daxter , fav is the second one . only 4? I guess the lost legacy game that was on vita isn't get released ?
I still can't believe I beat Jak 2 back in the day. Man that game was hard.
I loved these games back in the day.
I have all of the Jak games on PS2 and the trilogy on PS3 so I probably won't buy them again on PS4, but I will get Jak X on PS4.
I can't believe they acknowledged Jak X.
1 is not only the best but the only real J&D game. After that it became GTA, same thing that happened w/ FFX-2, still the worst FF ever made, and that includes FF:CC:TCB, but just barely. Just got my Jak plat about a month ago - I needed about 18 orbs in a years old save - and it will be my only plat ever. My favorite game of all time, but I don't want play it again and cheapen the memory, I'm sure it can't hold up that well.
Jak 2 was beatable, and fun in it's own way, but adding guns, missions, Jak's voice and anger, changed the entire dynamic from the fun loving first game. Jak 3 I've always referred to as Jak 2.5, it's just Jak 2 w/ cars. At least the ending tied it all together. Played Jak X for about 20 minutes, racing isn't my thing.
Are the PSP games coming, Daxter and Lost Frontier? I never played those.
I'm up for this. Have they been given a nice lick of paint for PS4?
After ratchet & clank ps4 and crash trilogy, I want a real remake/remaster of jax & daxter series rather than ps2 to ps4 classic
This just reminded me, I'd better get my Lost Legacy preorder ready.
Aww, rats! I love Precursor Legacy, but these PS2 Classics always have a botched framerate in PAL-country...!
I was a R&C guy back in the day, so I'm content still getting all these regular new releases for that and haven't put much thought into J&D. Feel sorry for the J&D folk though, It's kinda absurd to be hearing of remasters again. It's about time they just made a new game. Or just outsource to Gearbox.....
Man, they really - and I mean REALLY - need to get onboard the non-Naughty Dog games already. It makes so much less sense to include Jak X than it does to include another ACTUAL PLATFORMING ADVENTURE, regardless of if Ready at Dawn (a studio formed by ex-Naughty Dog members) and High Impact (ex-Insomniac) did them. Are Daxter and Lost Frontier as good as Jak 1, 2 or 3? Probably not, but they're absolutely both worth playing, and people missed out on Lost Frontier when it was released on PS2 back in the day. I'm tired of hearing people cry out for Jak 4 when it came out over a decade ago - time to expose more gamers to it, Sony.
There's a weird cult-ish attitude around Naughty Dog growing. I don't like it. People seem to only respond to, like, 3 studios and they put them all up on a pedestal and its stupid; stop getting so weird about very few studios and start paying attention to more talent instead, yeah? Naughty Dog is becoming like Kojima...
Wasn't the biggest fan of Jak II or III and never played the racing game but I'll definitely be purchasing The Precursor Legacy, ND's first truly great game, imo.
@wiiware
I agree, although rather than a remaster, which many times doesn't fix serious flaws in older games (see Crash Trilogy) I'd rather they go all-out the way Insomniac did with Ratchet & Clank PS4 and just do a remake. That takes time though and ND doesn't really have that given it's working on The Last of Us Part II.
@get2sammyb That sucks then i will not touch them.
Original is the best by far of the trilogy. I'll be getting it since I pre-ordered Lost Legacy.
I've always been super interested in X but it caused problems with PS2 memory cards. I'm interested to try it on PS4 without those issues.
The first game was always my favourite, it felt like a natural evolution of the Crash series; I mean you could replace all the characters with the Crash ones and it'd totally fit as Crash Bandicoot 4. 2 and 3 are still decent, though it was obvious they just forced a huge tone shift in the series to try and appeal to the GTA fanbase.
Also, 60fps Naughty Dog. They should try that again.
So let me see if I got this right... PS4 is getting the Jak & Daxter Trilogy, and the racing game, Jak X, but Crash N-Sane Trilogy can't get CTR?
