Sony is anticipating a big end to the year for its various Japanese developers. The release schedule for the second half of 2017 includes three titles from its Eastern first-parties: Knack 2 from Japan Studio, Gran Turismo Sport from Polyphony Digital, and Everybody’s Golf from Clap-Hanz in collaboration once again with Japan Studio.
Speaking in Famitsu magazine (as reported by DualShockers), PlayStation America boss Shawn Layden explained that he’s very happy with all three games, and that it’s important for the company’s Japanese studios to make products that both appeal domestically and globally – a feat which the trio of abovementioned titles adhere to.

Has PS4 had a GT game yet? I don't play them but I know they're a big deal.
@rjejr Not yet. The last one was for PS3.
Honestly, I can't wait for Everybody's Golf (have it paid in full on pre-order). I also can't wait for Knack 2, as I was one of the ones who really enjoyed the first one. Gran Truismo, I'll wait until I see some reviews after the game is released...still have Wipeout Collection to keep me busy with that, and now, Crash Bandicoot Trilogy. Too many out right now, coming out and a big back log to play!
@rjejr Not yet, but GT Sport should be coming soon.
They really should make a new Ape Escape! It'd be awesome!
@Orpheus79V @JLPick Thanks. I didn't think so, but at the same time in the back of my head I see GT as a flagship game for all the PS systems and PS4 has been out for 4 years now. Kind of feels like they gave racing to Xbox and Forza, focusing on 3rd person Naughty Dog games instead.
@mookysam Amen
All of these are maybes for me. Haven't touched a GT game in ages.
@rjejr
When I see that huge Knack with the red mane, thick eyebrows and the spikes I always see Bowser. Is it just me?
@rjejr Well remember, with PS4 they were trying to launch DriveClub as the Project Gotham (and now Horizon) to Gran Tourismo's Forza, as it were. A sister series that could take some of the load off of Polyphony Digital, who infamously takes their sweet time between releases instead of working on any sort of annualized schedule. But, as we all know, Driveclub struggled to hit its launch date, disappointed people, took a lot of post-launch support to get up to shape, and resulted in the closure of Evolution (though some people remained with Sony to continue to work on updates and post-launch support for Driveclub, and most everyone else was acquired by CodeMasters to bulk up their racing game studios).
So yeah, its been awhile since GT was a priority for Sony, but that's a little extra pronounced this time because they tried to launch DriveClub as a second premier driving sim franchise in the meantime.
Keep em coming, sony. 😏
@TruthfulVoice Oh yeah, I remember DriveClub. Was supposed to be a PS+ game at launch, released a year later, only partially for PS+ and late. Seems so long ago, making the wait between GT games seem even longer. And Sport always seemed like an offshoot to me anyway, which made me wonder if PS4 had gotten a proper GT game yet, it's been 4 years, that's far from annualized.
@sinalefa Don't think I've ever seen Bowser before, but now that you mention it I do see a resemblance. Not sure if it's enough for me to say either "rip-off" or "homage", but it's there, in a "look at that shape in the clouds" sort of way.
Not to mention its good start with Gravity Rush 2.
Really hope GT Sport is a return to form for that series. I'm more of a Forza guy, but will go with GT instead this year if it reviews well.
I think everyone keeps forgetting that Patopon Remastered is coming during this Summer. Knack 2 looks good, might pick it up if it got great reviews.
@rjejr I know. Not many racing sims anymore, but it's a tough area for companies to tackle. I'd love to see a new Sega GT, Outrun, Burnout and more, but it's looking slim.
@JLPick I wouldn't be surprised if "sims" fade away as the gaming public gravitates towards "kart" and fun games like Motorstorm, F-Zerp/Wipeout (same game in my head) and even spin-offs like Rocket League. I know a lot of people like trying to drive cars in sims but is it enough people to justify the cost? Doesn't seem to be.
@rjejr DriveClub was never meant to be fully for PS+, it was always meant to be a stripped down version as a preview for plus members with a discounted buy in if they wanted the full game. That said, it took so long to get the PS+ version out there that when it was finally released no one cared, especially with all the bad press the game had been getting.
@rjejr Is it one the best selling franchises of Sony so i think thats your answer its worth it. They just should have given the last PS3 GT a PS4 update like the Last of Us the game looked great. I think they should do less cars and faster release dates.
I am getting Everybody's Golf and Knack 2. 😀
@KingSimba The only thing with Patapon (and also with the Loco Roco...which I bought day one), is that I wish they would released them on retail format too (granted they were on PSP first). Would be nice for the cover art and possible throwing in some more goodies too! I'm also hoping for Patapon 2 and 3, and Loco Roco 2 and Midnight Carnival to arrive too.
