We loved the original Dragon Quest Builders here at Push Square, so we’re excited to see a shock sequel announcement. At the Dragon Quest Summer Festival 2017 in Tokyo overnight, Square Enix revealed the next instalment in its Minecraft-inspired build-‘em-up for the PlayStation 4, which will boast all-new features like aquatic action and sky-gliding goodness. More importantly, it’ll also pack four-person multiplayer.
While the first game took place after the final boss battle in the original Dragon Quest, it seems its sequel will pick up after the events of Dragon Quest II – at least that’s the conjecture thus far. There’s a bit of gameplay footage embedded above, but no word on a release date just yet. If you’re itching for some Dragon Quest Builders now, though, maybe check out our review of the original.

This has got to be one of the biggest and best surprises for me!I absolutely loved the original game,in fact probably one of my most fave PS4 games so far but I definitely wasn't expecting a sequel...excellent news!
No vita, no buy.
Couldn't imagine playing this on the PS4. May be an eventual Switch buy.
I tried the first game demo, while the game is good, I prefer traditional rpg like persona 5 and dragon quest 11.
@Fight_Teza_Fight It has been 5+ year, the vita tech can't keep up with new games anymore, unless it has really big audience (like 3ds), most japanese third party publisher/developer will pass it. Now the switch has replaced vita as the place for B games that's not too demanding.
I absolutely loved the first game. It was my favourite game of 2016 so I'll definitely get this if it's localised.
So Dragon Quest is now PS4 and 3DS/Switch. I'm okay with this.
Adding Multiplayer? That's another must-purchase game there!
@Fight_Teza_Fight : Its 2017. You must not buy a lot of games then
