Gran Turismo Sport may be light on single player content, but one area it’s absolutely not lacking in is photography options. Series creator Kazunori Yamauchi – a keen photographer himself – has masterminded what Polyphony Digital is calling Scapes, which essentially allows you to drop car models into real-world locations.
Because the Scapes themselves include all of the lighting data from the real-world location, the effect is incredible. There are then dozens of options that allow you to play with the image, setting things like aperture and shutter speed. It’s incredibly in-depth, and if you’re a fan of photography, is probably going to eat up a lot of your playtime alone.
Check it all out in action via the PlayStation Access video embedded above, and let us know if this is a mode you’ll be spending a lot of time with in the comments section below.

not that bothered really, i buy racing games to race cars not drool over them in a photo mode
they do look nice though i'll say that but it's not a feature i will be using
It's pretty but that's not what I'd call a photo mode, it's a nice model viewer in static locations ... where's the option to pause a replay on a particularly classy overtake manoeuvre, swing the camera around and recall your best moments of racing genius? That's a photo mode.
Some of my favourites are in Horizon where I've caught something great mid battle and saved those off.
Unless I've missed something in the vid ...
I allways spend a lot of time with the Photomodes. Driveclub was the best, Shadow of Mordor was nice and Horizon was great too. It's nice to have a change of pace from driving and shooting things etc. I also like to set the background of my PS4 to the best screenshots (or "photos") I've taken. So this is very welcome. At least, IF I decide to buy GT Sport.
@Bezzator agreed, if it doesnt allow you to take photo's from actual races it would sort of defeat the purpose.
@Flurpsel @Bezzator I'm pretty sure you can do all of that as well.
Better than Horizon's Photo Mode? Personally, I have no interest in Photo modes myself. Even less so in a 'racing' game. Its been a LONG time since I had 'posters' on my wall of cars - like the Lamborghini Countach, Ferrari Testarossa, Porsche 959 - shows how long ago that was... LOL
I don't like all the 'livery' you see on racing cars and I really think all that ruins the lines of the car. Every time I have had the opportunity to 'customise' my cars, I tend to keep them more plain - maybe at most some graduation in the paintwork - like a Red to Black. My 'Ferraris' are ALWAYS Red - although I will change the 'shade' - like go for a deeper red - certainly won't go all 'Miami Vice' LOL
That last photo especially is gorgeous. I've always been amazed at how good the photos are from the GT series. I still have loads of pics from Gran Turismo 5 saved on my PS3 which still look good to this day.
I love a good photo mode and it's good to see more and more games with it implemented.
@FullbringIchigo Then GT won't be for you since that's what most of the games were, car porn with occasional racing.
@Neolit Yeah I'm quite surprised by the negative responses. The tech is amazing, and while I understand not everyone will want to engage with it, I'm with you — I'll spend hours faffing with this.
@get2sammyb Being negative about a game is quite hot now and the last article quite feeds these responses. Telling that a game is dissapointing before its even released. 😀 😁
