The official announcement of Yakuza: Kiwami 2 comes as no surprise seeing as the game's existence was leaked yesterday, but at least now we've got a badass reveal trailer. The big story here is that the remake will use Yakuza 6's flashy new engine, which looks bloody lovely.
If memory serves us correctly, the original Yakuza 2 back on the PlayStation 2 was a real step above its predecessor, offering up a more twisting story and throwing a bunch of new characters into the mix. Apparently, this remake will also add in a new scenario that features Goro Majima as a playable character. Nice.
Yakuza: Kiwami 2 will launch before the year is out in Japan, on the 7th December. Once Yakuza 6 is out over here in the West - or possibly just before - you can probably expect SEGA to announce that Kiwami 2 is being brought overseas as well.

Yass second one is awesome. Just got yazuka kiwami delivered this morning xd
@Th3solution To be fair, Yakuza 6 came out in Japan in 2016, so they've had ample time between 6 and Kiwami 2
Perfect timing! My copy of Yakuza Kiwami just got delivered.
Sega do beautiful steel books .
Hope they get this out faster than Zero.
I need a sale on Yakuza Kiwami asap!
Part 2 was bloody brilliant! This looks so freaking good in the new engine. Can't wait to get my copy of Kiwami next week.
@AFCC the steelbook edition was on sale (by only a few bucks) last month on Amazon for only $24. It's well worth it at its retail price of $30!
Now I just need 3 through 5 to come to PS4.
It's gotta come to the west at some point. I'll be playing the first Kiwami in the meantime.
Yakuza 2 has the best story in the series. Can't wait to play it again
Yes. Loving the new love for yakuza in the West. Just hope Sega don't burn people out by stacking the releases too closely together. Yakuza 2 was the only one missing from my collection so will defo be getting this.
@AXEL314 Gotta see if I dig up some cash
