Sony has released a new PlayStation 4 firmware update – and no, it’s not the underwhelming 5.00 just yet. Weirdly, if you’re in the beta for the new system software, you'll have to install this to play online, which apparently removes you from the test. Really weird.
The update itself doesn’t do much other than improve system performance, but we’re guessing that it’s got a little something to do with those problematic PS4 Pro crashes that have been happening in Destiny 2. We can’t imagine firmware update 5.00 will be too far away now.

My PS4 is so stable that it's now the very foundation of my house
Hopefully this doesn't screw over standard PS4 users. I've never had issues with firmware releases, but I usually wait at least a day and read other users' experiences before I turn on and update.
Maybe this will fix the issue mine has where upon starting, no HDMI output occurs regardless of cable.
@Tulio517 i doubt it's as stable as the 3DS though, it would make a far better foundation
@FullbringIchigo Nothing will ever be as stable as the 3DS
Whatever it was, it didn't fix my video and audio cutting out. Only happens when playing D2.
This is really weird, there was a beta update a few days ago. Why remove everyone from the beta with a non-beta update?
@Tulio517 True you could put that thing in the middle of a Tectonic shift and it wouldn't move
It rebuilt my database that's what it did and all my games off them xmb across the middle have gone, so I have to go to the library now.
I just received an email from Sony to say that certain restrictions will be applied so if I didn't want these I was to refrain from updating to 4.74
I was happily running the new beta software. But my PS4 is on auto update so decided to replace it with the old firmware. Now its crashed and had to turn it off at the mains. Congratulations Sony
@get2sammyb might want to put in the article about the email we received to say NOT to do anything unless you want home screen reset and possible to have to redownload certain games and wait for beta version 6 instead.

PlayStation®4 system software update 4.74 has been released. When trying to start certain games, you may be prompted to update the system to 4.74 from the 5.00 Beta.
Updating from 5.00 Beta to 4.74 will result in the following restrictions:
Please refrain from updating to 4.74 and wait for the upcoming 5.00 Beta 6 update if you would like to avoid these
A stability firmware update was also released for the Vita and PS3 today in NA.
They need to address the UI lag during gameplay!! the menus are useable while play most games.
I use DOWNLOAD! It's very effective!
Argh...It auto-updated, took me out of the Beta, and removed all my carefully organized folders. -_-
And yess...It was automatic, cause...They must hate me.
Aaallllll of these stability patches yet the menu hub is still a stuttering super laggy mess. What exactly is getting more stable?
Stable? Or are they just horsin' around with us?
Have they changed the notification menu back to the old design yet?
Ui still laggy, youtube app slower then ever, any web site with javascript on is laggy and getting worse , exiting the browser after javascript was or still is enabled still often causing the need to reboot, and my 500GB hard drive still has less than 300GB that can be used.
So what part of the system received improved performance?
