We’ve posted about the PlayStation 4’s various FIFA 18 bundles in the past, but this topic deserves revisiting: you can currently buy a 500GB console alongside a copy of EA Sports’ latest soccer sim for £199.99 on Amazon UK. Considering the game’s going for £49.99 alone, it means you’re practically getting a brand new system for £150, which is bargain territory.

If you want the extra hard drive space, there’s also a 1TB option for £229.99, which again is very cheap. And then if you’d prefer a PS4 Pro, you can get one of those alongside the game for £349.99, which essentially renders the software free. These are just crazy deals as far as we’re concerned, and we wonder if they’re a sign that a price drop may be around the corner.

Sony could really bugger up XboneX's launch with a Pro price drop...
Also the price difference here between PS4's themselves makes the Pro seem a bit expensive imo, that could def do with a drop as you're not really getting that much more for an extra £120/£150 over the standard model...
@Dodoo I really believe a price drop is coming at Paris Games Week now. For both models.
@get2sammyb You have to imagine that will be the case cos in terms of games to show they could have waited till PSX but PGW is the perfect opportunity to head Microsoft and Nintendo off at the pass.
@get2sammyb @Dodoo Last Christmas Slim's were going for ~$250 w/ U4 while Pro was $400 alone, which made it an easy decision for me to buy a Slim, which I think after discounts I got for $228. (And I'm in no rush to own a 4k TV.)
I think this year Slim hits $199, certainly BF week in the US. Not sure about Pro, but w/ X1X going for $500 Sony really has no need to drop it all that much. I really don't see X catching on beyond the hardest of hardcore fanbois. I think it's so expensive it shouldn't have even been a holiday launch, that's not a holiday price, could have launched whenever. It's just going to make all the other consoles look that much better, including the $300 Switch if there are any on store shelves.
Honestly, I dont' even know the MSRP of the 500GB Slim though I don't think it's dropped to $199 yet, so that's likely this holiday. Pro still seems to be $399 officially so I'm guessing $349 announcement but on sale for $299 someplace at some point. PSVR seems to have dropped to $349 w/o the camera, but I still can't tell if Sony is serious about selling it or not, all I see are FIFA commercials. Soon to be replaced I'm sure by SWBF2 commercials. Guess we'll see, it's October soon.
I'm still curious about what Sony will do in 2018 w/ so many games coming out they'll want to promote. Spiderman and GoW both seem bundle worthy. Maybe GoW n Pro and Spiderman in Slim? TLoU2 will get a bundle, maybe both systems, but I don't see that in 2018, I'm too glass half empty. I see that game as the big PS4 send-off in early 2019 before the PS5 announcement for a holiday 2019 release.
Price should not be an issue for anyone this holiday though if they just want a Slim, bargains will be everywhere while Nintendo tries to make enough Switch and MS tries to push a $500 console, b/c they have very short memories and forgot how poorly X1 sold at that price and had to in very quick succession be dropped to $450, $400, $300. But 3 years later $500 is going to work. smh
Very tempting, I just wished I wasn't bothered about the Pro but having a 4K TV I'd really benefit owning one. 500GB would of been fine as well, as I would only be playing exclusives. I'm hoping to pick up a Pro for £300 around or after Christmas.
@MaccaMUFC I think you'll get one for that price at Christmas time, price drop or not. Definitely recommend opting for the PS4 Pro if you already have a 4K TV.
Last week it was £199 with destiny 2. These deals are here to stay! I'd imagine we'll get some crazy bundles at Christmas
@get2sammyb Maybe I'll be lucky enough to grab a £300 Pro bundled with Horizon: ZD but I'm probably just being too hopeful there.
Would you say it's worth me getting PS+ if I'm only going to be playing exclusives?
By the logic in the article you can already get a Pro for £300 or less if you wait for a deal. I picked one up for £330 last month from Tesco and it came with Fallout 4, Doom, Dishonoured 2 and Uncharted:TLL free. Sold all those games for £50 minus eBay fees
Would someone suggest PS4 Pro if I don't own 4K TV? Game now offers good trade in deals for original PS4.
@mrbone Yes, I absolutely would. My TV is a 1080p Bravia, and it's definitely worth it. For games like Horizon, you get a noticeably superior image quality, and for many others you can get more 'fleshed out' game worlds and/or better frame rates.
And if you're into sharing videos on YouTube, you get a bump in resolution from the built-in recording from 720p to 1080p. which makes them look much better.
Going forward, while no games will have Pro-specific features, more and more games will take advantage of the extra power. Project Cars 2 is one of the latest games to offer more stable frame-rates on the Pro.
If I'm honest, I don't know why Sony are still making the standard units. I'd have thought it would make sense to stop production of the Slim, which would eliminate the costs of producing two different versions, and use the money saved to drop the price of the Pro and make it the single, standard model.
...Good lord that is cheap.
Kinda wish I waited now.
Oh, well.
