Bluehole, the developer of runaway multiplayer success story PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, is in active discussions with Sony regarding a PlayStation 4 version of the game. Microsoft recently announced that it would be publishing the Xbox One edition of the title later this year, but it was always expected that a PS4 version would follow.
Now, in an interview with Bloomberg, founder Chang Byung-gyu has revealed that his firm is currently engaged in conversations with the Japanese giant to bring the Battle Royale-inspired experience to PlayStation. “Bluehole is in talks with Sony about introducing a version for the PlayStation after [Xbox],” the article explains.
It’ll be interesting to see how long this title remains tied to the Xbox One in the console space. Considering that Epic Games’ recently released Fortnite: Battle Royale has got off to a decent start on the PS4, it may convince Bluehole to expedite its plans for a PS4 port. Our guess is that you’ll be playing this with a DualShock 4 early next year.

So since Epic released the Fortnite mode now we here about a possible PS4 version? Looks like they've had a fire put underneath them
Like you said, Fornite released their update and it showed that PS players won't wait
guess they are afraid of losing potential customers
It all depends what the deal is with Microsoft really. However, they would have been foolish to sign a really long term exclusivity deal. PUBG is the game of the moment and is popular right now but in terms of popularity, it is likely the buzz will recede eventually (sure it will still do well but at the same time, what goes up must come down). They'll want to capitalise on the buzz and get it in PS4 hands before something replaces it.
No more ambiguous answer about ps4 port eh.
I can wait. PC and X-Box can test out all the bugs.
Pathetic. First the stupidity of trying to blame Epic for copying something Bluehole did not invent, then the damage control after the backlash and now all of a sudden they talk about the Ps4 version, which they avoided since announcing that Microsoft would publish the console version.
Was really looking forward to finally play the game, but right now I think free Fortnite is enough for my occasional battle royale fix.
I do no think there is any rush for PUBG to come to PS4. If anything waiting a longer period would be better more people will have tried Fortnite and got a taste for this genre of game. I am also doubtful how well it will run on the base PS4 and xbox.
Waiting 6 months or a year does not really matter. No one is spending money on buying Fortnite and there are not any other battle royale games on the horizon for PS4.
I am also curious how well it will run on consoles.
Bluehole was so coy in its answers when asked about exclusivity a mere month ago, I find it funny that they're having to make announcements that they're in discussions with Sony so soon after statements like:
"We have expanded the partnership and will be working more closely with the @Xbox team to launch on console faster and will get more support..."
"We have nothing further to announce at this time. We will be working hard to bring PUBG to Xbox sooner."
"At this time, the Bluehole dev team is focused on bringing PUBG to Xbox One and its continued development on PC...As for future plans on other platforms, there's nothing to announce at this time."
Here's hoping Epic can sharpen Fortnite into more polished shooter that exceeds PUBG.
Don't know what to think tbh on one hand cool more people get to play but this is setting some dangerous precedent a game that is in early access and it costs 30$ and is filled with microtransactions is a bad sign where the industry is heading.
But take it how you will I'm not a fan where this is going with this early access games.
@get2sammyb I know your sick of hearing about cross-play when it comes to Sony and MS but with the potential to raise the capped 100 player count on each server, I think this would be a great excuse to have a battle royale between the two systems, as long as each server was regulated and the ban hammer brought down on anyone causing too much grief to others, it'll never happen but I think it would be great.
Off topic here but with this and RotTR being past XB1 exclusives, I hope you eventually get Cuphead, it's a gem of a game that deserves to be experienced by everyone, regardless of which system they own.
Do you guys remember a game called MAG on PS3? I never played it, but the concept with 256 players looks interesting, Sony really should bring this game on PS4, even a port or a sequel.
I'm not a MP guy, but I believe this game would be really successful and it would be an exclusive.
@HefHughner Yeah it just comes across as them throwing their toys out the pram... Also R.I.P. Sir.
pleaseee!
This is the least surprising news ever. As if anyone genuinely believe it was an Xbox exclusive.
