Koei Tecmo has slapped a Japanese release date on Dynasty Warriors 9. The open world hack and slasher -- which is a PlayStation 4 exclusive in the Land of the Rising Sun -- will take to the battlefield on the 8th February, 2018.
We imagine that date won't mean much to most of you reading this, but its confirmation does tell us that development is on track. What's more, we imagine that a Western release date announcement can't be too far off.
We're looking forward to getting our hands on Dynasty Warriors 9, but there have been some concerns recently that corners are being cut with regards to unique characters. As fans will know, the series has long boasted a huge playable character roster, but with Dynasty Warriors 9, it seems as though many characters will be sharing their weapons and movesets with others. Hopefully the finished release turns out well.

I hope this goes well
Off-topic question: does anybody know why Bloodborne will be under maintenance at 31/10/2017?
It's one day after Sony's Paris Game Show and on Halloween.
Coincidence? Or is Sony something planning?
Not a big Dynasty Warriors fan - it really is one of the blander "Warriors" titles Omega Force makes these days (enemy variety counts for a lot!) - but I'm keeping an eye on this 'cuz of their shiny new engine and design for DW. I've been a very big fan of their previous 2 open world action games (Dragon Quest Heroes 2 and Toukiden 2), so I'm hoping they can go 3 for 3 with open world.
@ShiggleMan That's a good point I hadn't really considered. I feel both Toukiden 2 and DQH2 benefited from the move to open worlds. Hopefully the same will be true of DW9.
Dynasty Warriors is a guilty pleasure for me, I bought every game on the PS3 era & they tend to be so bad overall but the gameplay is kinda addicting just killing wave after wave of bums 👌🏾
