After a particularly prolonged beta testing period, PlayStation 4 firmware update v5.00 has finally gone live. Weighing in at a meaty 374.7MB, the new system software doesn’t bring as many meaningful features as you may be anticipating. Some headlines include changes to the sub-account system, quality of life revisions to the Quick Menu, and a new Friends List management tool that allows you to group up your BFFs.
We’ll keep you abreast of any bonus features as we play around with the new firmware update throughout the day. In the meantime, make sure you get this update downloaded as soon as possible, as you’ll need it installed if you plan to play online today.

Sounds like it will be underwhelming.
All I ask is that it doesn't brick my system.
I was hoping to have the option to either delete or hide read notifications. Ah well, never mind
Nothing to see here, move along folks.
@blakey78 I know, it's mind blowing that we can't do that.
Nothing interesting, really. Didn't even bother with the beta after finding out what was included.
I'd have liked the ability to turn the controller light off completely. It's nice and everything but I'm over it now, I'd rather have the extra battery life.
i'll download it and install it anyway just to get it over with.
Hmm, 'rebuilding database' it says now after doing the update for my least wanted FW update
Check notifications from the quick menu. Nice.
Notifications on the quick menu is helpful and that's about it.
@Gremio108 If you want extra battery life, try turning off the rumble if you haven't already. Those motors eat up way more juice than some tiny leds.
The friends list is good I use that to divide up people depending on where I have met them. Notifications good. Lots of smaller features refining whats good already, well done Sony
Why is the PS4 OS so weak and lame. Standard things are introduced like Sony is doing PS4 users a favour.
@get2sammyb Little off topic, but a Gran Turismo Sport demo is incoming:

Can't wait.
@Turismo4GT Just about to cover this, but thank you for sharing.
@get2sammyb Cheers.
was of download time
The previous update was bad...
It made it so that you cannot play downloaded paid games offline.
