We’re in the thick of it now. There’s practically a major new game release every week through until the holidays, so you better be prepared for the onslaught – and the insane expenditure, of course. Much of our team is on assignment at the moment, and if they’re not, you can guarantee they're doing thumb exercises ahead of the workout that's about to come.

I’ll putting my foot down in Gran Turismo Sport all weekend, as I work my way closer to a full review. I’ve no idea how some sites managed to score it so quickly – actually I do, but I’ll remain professional and refrain from comment.

There are a lot of good games I'd like to play this weekend, but my duties as a Professional Video Game Critic demand that I get stuck into ELEX, which is... Well, it's not great. And by not great, I mean it's the jankiest mess that I've slogged through in a long time.

After a stretch of playing quite a lot less than I'd like, I think I wanna put some time aside this weekend to sit down with Rainbow Six: Siege again. Sprinkle in some spooky movies and apple cider, and it makes for the perfect fall.

I’ve been trying to get to grips with Gran Turismo Sport over the last couple of days; I’m not usually one for online play, so this has come as a bit of a learning curve. Other than that, I might finally find some time to start the story mode of FIFA 18.

With my PlayStation VR arriving just yesterday, I'll be leaving this reality for the virtual one all weekend. PlayStation VR Worlds, Gran Turismo Sport, Batman: Arkham VR, and Rez Infinite are the first games on the agenda. Maybe Middle-earth: Shadow of War or South Park: The Stick of Truth will get a look in at some point – maybe when I come back down to Earth?

This weekend will be one fraught with conflict as I face off against a swathe of heroic combatants to bring you the Push Square verdict on Brawlhalla. Once I’ve had my fill of free-to-play fisticuffs, I’ll hunker down to continue my slow and haphazard play through of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

So since October is the month of Hallowe'en, I will be getting into the mood by playing Resident Evil 4 on the Wii which I think is the best version [It is! - Ed], as well as some Castlevania: Symphony of the Night on the PSone.
What will be keeping your fingers busy this weekend? Are you playing South Park? Are you awaiting Assassin's Creed? Or are you just damn well working through that backlog again? Let us know below.

Not sure I'll be playing anything very much, but if I do have the time, it'll probably be Life is Strange and/or Splatoon 2.
I'll be playing Final Fantasy 9. I feel like I've been doing nothing but running, jumping and slashing things for the past few weeks and I need a change of pace.
PS4: South Park The Fractured But Whole, GT Sport
PSVita: Ys Memories of Celceta
Got the platinum in South Park earlier. Going to clear some side quests and then GT Sport will have my undivided attention.
After FINALLY finishing FF3 I have moved on to Ys Memories of Celeceta on vita. What a great game!!
@get2sammyb Looking forward to your review of GT Sport, Sammy. I personally think it's a huge letdown and I'll be putting it on eBay shortly. Online racing really isn't for me.
I'll wrap up Infamous Second Son today, probably start KH Chain of Memories (never played it before), then hop on PS3 to either resume Final Fantasy VII or Mass Effect. Also wanna check the price of Guilty Gear ACORE.
@BLP_Software "Doesn't stop you every other time Sammy."
@Jake3103 I've mixed thoughts about it. Still haven't really made up my mind. I really like the online, though, personally.
I’m pecking away at the gargantuan and never ending Persona 5 but in order to mix things up from the long games I’ve been playing lately, I decided to do something from Telltale to get the feeling that I’m actually making progress in completing a game. So I started Back to the Future today and I gotta say, it’s okay but different from the other Telltale games I played. Mainly the puzzles are harder and there are hidden trophies, they’re not just gifted to you for completing the story.
I may just start MGS V this weekend. I need to play something else other than PES 17
This obscure game called
Wisedom Teeth Removal Irl Simulator.
It’s on the PS Dentist
RIP
Try to make some progress in MGSV and collect some trophies in Downwell. Going for the platinum in the latter but it's a long and rocky road...
Need to finish the Arkham Knight. What an amazing game btw.
Just waiting for the 12gig update to download on GT so i can play it. I bought Wolfenstein The Old Blood in the sale so I'll step into the big yankee shoes of Blazkowicz in the meantime. I'll also be farming Bitterblack trinkets in Dark Arisen, just hit level 200.
Trying to finish off Infamous Second Son this weekend and Metroid Samus returns as I have neglected that all in time for the chaos of next week when wolfenstein and Mario drops.
GT Sport
No games for me, I have a mysterious murder to investigate. The police haven't turned up so it's down to me to sort it out..I'll Just go with my gut and say the blind butler did it.
The Invisible Hours..Best VR game!
@Fight_Teza_Fight Congrats on beating FF3!I'm impressed you have persevered with the game seeing as I got the impression you weren't too keen.
Glad you are enjoying Ys though,a fantastic adventure that's much easier to get into
I work both Sat and Sun so gaming will be super low this weekend. When I do it'll be a little Cat Call hunting on Injustice 2 and finally get a chance to play a little South Park Fracture but Whole.
I've got myself the week off work. But my only gaming time will be late nights as it's half term for my kids and wife who's a teacher. I've got started on just cause 3,,its better than I expected and I'm not running into any issues that may be because I've got the boost mode switched on my pro. Anyway seems like there's a lot of destructive fun to be had. Not sure I'll be able to play the whole game without breaking it up with others as it's probably going to get repetitive, which is strange for me as I'm a one game at a time kinda guy
i just got Sherlock Holmes and the Devils Daughter in the sale so i'll be playing that
GT Sport I reckon. Damn those daily milestones!
@Wazeddie22 Truth be told, by the end I genuinely enjoyed it. The mechanics have not aged well, the job system is broken, but it's got a nice charm to it.
Ys is fantastic though. The 'fill out the map' mechanic that's in so many games actually makes sense here & it's rewarding.
Going to plug away at Horizon some more, possibly some Lost Legacy and Shadow of War. I used to agree that the Wii version of RE4 was the best, until I got the fan-made HD texture packs for PC. It really brings the backgrounds to life!
Just killing time until Friday when Mario releases. So it will be Splatoon 2 (uploaded a video to Twitter last night, love this new feature), and Binding of Isaac on PC.
I want to go back to Overwatch, but every time I start it I get hit with a 2 or 3gb or bigger update, so I leave it there until it finishes, by that time I forget about it, until I remember and the cycle repeats.
Back to playing blaster master zero on switch, and still playing cuphead on pc. I really need to upgrade my ps4 hdd, I want to try gts..
Fire Emblem Hack and Slash switch game, pokemon gold and Yakuza Kiwami
Various Forzas for me!
@wiiware Enabled auto-updates overnight while PS4 is in rest mode?
@sinalefa Man, the external HDD option is so great. Don’t worry about spending an whole Saturday doing a HD back up and then cracking open the PS4 and installing and messing with all that internal stuff only then to proceed with porting or downloading all your junk back on the new drive ... no, just plug the ext. HDD in and, voilà! More space than you know what to do with.
@Th3solution
Lol I think you got us mixed up in your replies. Weird thing is that Overwatch sometimes adds automatically to downloads and sometimes it doesn't. Thanks for the advice, I will give it a shot to see if I am missing something.
And I agree with you, I got a 4TB External HDD a few months ago, and now I have stopped buying physical games altogether. Easy and clean.
Almost finished Dishonored 2. I've enjoyed it a lot. The level design is so much more intricate than the first game.
I'm also continuing with Danganronpa V3. I finished Chapter 2 yesterday. The game is bonkers!
Trying to play through Nioh dlc, and it's pretty tough to say the least. May try to get into dragons dogma. But probably just die a bunch of times in Nioh, make no progress and wonder why I play video games at all.
After "finishing" Shadow of War (sod the grindy as hell fourth act, I'll watch the final cut scene on YT) I'm finally getting stuck in to The Fractured But Whole.
I'm also making my way through the lifetime goals or whatever it's called in my Project CARS 2 career. The driving may not be as polished as GT Sport (judging from the betas anyway) but at least it has an actual, proper single player campaign.
Working a lot of the weekend, but the kids did manage to rope me into a bit of Terraria earlier. Finally bought Sonic Mania this week, that might get a look-in late Sunday night.
Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, Street Fighter V, Tekken 7, and Senran Kagura Peach Beach Splash.
@Th3solution I mean my 1tb hdd is nearly full, I can't install another big games (60gb+).
inbetween decorating it will gt sport
Gonna fire up Uncharted Lost Legacy finally !
@JJ-Firl Good shout on downwell. Ive just unlocked the floater skin and its way easier to inflate the combo bonus.
Im playing some more HZD the prettiest horticulture simulator of them all. All its missing is Alan Titsmarsh.
@sinalefa That I did! 😂 Thats what playing too many JRPGs does to a person’s brain — you start seeing everything backwards.
@themcnoisy 😳 I think you mean “Titchmarsh” LoL. But yeah, there’s a lot of plant picking in that game.
@sinalefa Couldn't agree with you more. I got a 5tb HDD when the update to allow external ones went live. I think I only bought one physical game since and that was cause I found it at a good deal from Gamefly.
Still playing Final Fantasy IX and what a great game it is, after that I will play the new episode of Guardians of the Galaxy. My copy of South Park didn't arrive yet, so I will not start to play it because Super Mario Odyssey and Wolfenstein are coming soon.
I think I’ll play some Puyo Puyo Tetris and Pokken Tournament DX on Nintendo Switch before next weekend.
As for Gran Turismo Sport, I would also hop on that, if only it didn’t require online access all the time...
finished South Park TFBW this morning loved every second of it
Just finnished God of War 1 for the first time and what a game! Although played it on PS Now and the occasional lag proper screwed me over on it! Other than that a few games of Fifa 17 and then after that no gaming for atleast 7 weeks, probably 14 really...
Arkham Asylum for the first time. What a neat game!
Yakuza Kiwami
Having fun with Mad Max
@spakai mad Max very under rated game imo, I loved it
Dishonored 2 and loving it.
@themcnoisy Yes, levitation is excellent for combo’s but in the later areas the long airtime is a disadvantage. Every style is fit for different trophies. Boulder style is my go-to style if I want to try to beat the game. That endgame though...
Enjoy HZD, loved playing that!
Enjoy yer sunday
@Tasuki I have never played Symphony of the Night (or any Castlevania game) but just realised it's available for Vita at £2.49 in the sale so will be getting it today.
@PostmanPatinator Have a good time, Its tough but never pvr (thats for wimps) you will know what pvr is when you are there.
@themcnoisy okay cheers! Haha I won't be!
@kyleforrester87 Castlevania has always been one of my favorite game series dating way back to the NES days. Symphony of the Night is a good place to start especially if you like games like Axiom Verge, after all Symphony of the Night did give birth to the Metroidvania genre after all.
The older Castlevania especially before Symphony of the Night are more platformer but I am not quite sure if you can play those on something other then a Nintend or Sega product unless you go through avenues that can't be discussed here.
Then there are the 3D Castlevanias which the N64 had and I belive a few were on PS2 which are probably the worst games in the series, they didn't seem to transition well to 3D like say Zelda did. Bad controls, poor storylines and difficulty spikes are some of the problems.
Lastly there is the reboot Lords of Shadow series on PS3/Xbox 360 which isn't bad but it's a God Of War clone which mind you if you like GoW you probably will like the LoS series. I felt they got alot of bad criticism that wasn't warrented. I would definitely play these over the early 3D games.
Overall the Metroidvania ones are my favorites especially Symphony of the Night yes the voice acting is cheesy but that's one of the charms of it. It's one of the few games I have rebought on several platforms (PSone, Xbox 360, PSP).
Definitely a must play if you have never played it.
This weekend I am enjoying settling colonies in the Andromeda Galaxy via Mass Effect. Solid game not sire why all the hate.
Redbox also has Dark Souls 3 for 5$ so I will be buying that this weekend. Never played it and I heat its for masochists, so....
South park TFBW, shadow of war, forza 7, legend of zelda botw. Tooo damn busy. Also dishonored 2 dlc.... that is all
@ellsworth004 agreed. Can't stop playing.
