Today's the 7th November, also known as N7 Day, if you happen to be a massive Mass Effect nerd. For a decade now, BioWare has been using N7 Day to celebrate its sci-fi series, wheeling out announcements or reveals as well as spotlighting community efforts.
Sadly, there don't appear to be any big announcements happening today -- where the heck is our remastered trilogy? -- but the Canadian developer has put together a nice celebratory blog post regardless. Said post features an interesting video that details Mass Effect's history. You can give that a watch at the top of this article.
It really is a huge shame that Mass Effect: Andromeda turned out the way that it did. The series clearly means a lot to so many people, and now that EA has put the franchise on ice for the time being, we're more than happy to look back and remember why we enjoyed the original trilogy so much in the first place.
Are you a big Mass Effect fan? Resist the urge to replay Mass Effect 2 for the 25th time in the comments section below.

Maybe they shouldve let this year slide.. not exactly the best year for ME
"Wow, ten years of Mass Effect."
"Yeah, man. Can't believe how great those three games were."
"There were four Mass Effect games."
i was a big fan but i was recently revisiting it via the XB1 backwards compatibility program and ME1 is terrible, not aged well at all, ME 2 was still good but not as great as i remember and ME3 actually probably aged the best of the 3 but even then still not a good as i remember
This is awkward.
Look another series that was killed by a corporation.
@NintendoFan4Lyf
The first one is definitely my favorite. The rest feel like fan-fiction to me, especially since the female characters do stuff like wear a breather mask in outer space with no helmet and wear normal clothing during armed combat. Not to mention the tight, linear story with some great twists and turns compared to the predictable "go recruit people, beat the bad guys, go home" story of the both of the sequels.
Once Bioware sold out to EA it was all downhill.
I still can't get over the opening dropship scene in ME: Andromeda...like, who does a planet fall while STANDING UP inside of the drop ship, without any kind of seat belt, and loose cargo all over the place? Of course things are going to go poorly. Despite all of that game's inexcusable flaws, I never wanted the series to die!
Pity they won't put the trilogy on PS Now but were happy to let MS have BC on them.
I probably have played Mass Effect 2 like a dozen times lol. I hope for the best regarding the future of the series, but Andromeda was just so mediocre on the heels of some truly special games.
Casual reminder that Mass Effect 2 is in fact the best Mass Effect game and the first Mass Effect game is complete trash.
The series goes Kotor - mass effect 1 - mass effect 2 - horizon zero dawn.
Thats the way I see it anyway. Ive heard there was some mass effect spin off, andromeda I believe. It was similar to the clone wars cartoon series for star wars. Absolute sh!+.
Yet you what is strange a few weeks there was an EA sale or maybe last month and on the store through my PS4 I saw Mass Effect 2, Dead Space 3 on there clearly it was a glitch on Sony's part some PS3 store games shown on the PS4 version of the store. But I am surprised EA haven't at least done the Trilogy for PS4
@ShogunRok And I thought you were a major fan, Ramsey. Tut-tut.
Given how N7 day is a thing; why on earth did Bioware/EA not delay Andromeda to today. Its perfect marketing and would have given them time to finish the game properly rather than rushing the title out to meet some arbitrary shareholder figures for the last financial year.
So is Andromeda worth getting for $20? I saw it at Walmart the other day and almost bit.
so sad with the end of the franchise by EA's hands
@ApostateMage Nah, I'm just being a tw*t. Mass Effect is a decent game overall, but the gameplay is really shoddy — especially by today's standards. The last time I replayed the trilogy I had real trouble with that side of it.
R.I.P Mass Effect. Yet another series killed by EA.
Probably would've been more appropriate for them to have given a eulogy instead of a celebration. I am wearing my N7 hoodie today though, so I guess I'm in mourning as well. I knew there was a reason I pulled it out of the closet today.
@ShogunRok ME1 was the best ME until ME2 came out, agree with you there. I also tried replaying the trilogy last year and just gave up on ME1. Way too clunky in every aspect. You want a real jankfest, try ME3 on WiiU
Its probably the saddest N7 there has ever been. The hate that gathered against Andromida killed any possibility of DLC and also ending support for the game and franchise.
ME1 was the best out of all the games it plays a lot more like an RPG whereas the next two games are shooters with a strong story. ME3 had and still has the best DLC out of any game I have ever played.
I liked the ME3 ending fight me.
Citadel Dlc was the best Dlc in Entire Mass Effect Franchise end of discussion
@dryrain ME3 Has the best dlcs overall , but doesn't have the very best single piece of dlc , because nothing matches lair of the shadow broker in me2 , now if you'll excuse me , i have a trilogy to replay for the 13th time
@dryrain Alright maybe citadel dlc comes close ... now that i think of it they kinda tie in the best dlc category
Kinda rude to host a party in a graveyard...
Not sure if we will ever play a new Mass Effect now that Bioware is making a mmo with microtransactions (probably).
EA is garbage.
This article reminds me I still need to get around to playing the series...maybe one day.
I can't talk about this. Too soon.
@ShogunRok It will be a slamdunk if they put out a remaster/remake with updated gameplay for all the ME games you would think.
@Flaming_Kaiser I think a remaster is definitely happening sooner or later
