Uncharted is just about a decade old, and in order to celebrate we ranked the best Uncharted games for your entertainment – and irritation. As one of the biggest PlayStation properties, however, Naughty Dog has its own anniversary events in mind – and it all starts with the slice of nostalgia embedded above.
From 19th November through 21st December, Sony will be giving away a free Uncharted 10th Anniversary theme in Europe and North America – and various other Uncharted items like avatars will also be available complimentary. There’ll also be free skins for Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy’s multiplayer until 19th December, as well as a 50 per cent sale on Uncharted Points and Relic Items.
That’s not all: a special panel which will be livestreamed online from PSX 2017 will look back at the history of the series, while attendees will be able to explore a show floor puzzle room set inside a life-size replica of Nate Drake’s attic. It all sounds like a ton of fun, and we’re really looking forward to watching that panel.

Has it really been that long
Unpopular opinion I know, but what a boring franchise Uncharted is!
@kyleforrester87 and we needed to know this because?
@vicarioussarcanum it's @kyleforrester87 opinion. He put forward his view and was not being disrespectful of anyone. Let the man be.
@kyleforrester87 You are no longer appreciated WigSplitter1987.
Perfect opportunity to finally go for the UC4 platinum.
@Turismo4GT But he's wrong.
@viciousarcanum
Unpopular opinion: Uncharted gameplay is severely underappreciated purely because so much emphasis is placed on the story and visuals by fans and the media alike.
Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy in particular have brilliant shootouts, and some of the puzzle platforming is great, too — especially when AI characters are involved.
I loved Uncharted - right from Day 1 - yes I was one of the few that bought Uncharted on release. I know looking back on it now, the game is perhaps not the strongest in the franchise but as a fan of Tomb Raider, this was a massive step up from any games around at that time - why? mainly because of the attention to detail and character development. The characters felt so 'real', so 'human'. Not a caricature or comic book, but as well realised as a film cast.
Its not just 'fans' and/or gamers though that recognise what ND have achieved but their peers (other devs) and those involved in the industry. Its a game that on its own can sell consoles. Every one of the 4 big games has won (at least 1) Game of the Year awards and many other awards too. Its set standards that many have tried to emulate but ultimately fall short. Yes the game-play maybe a little 'basic' at times, not always unique or revolutionary but its the characters and story, as well as ND's attention to detail and ability to get so much out of the hardware that keeps amazing. Just look at how many times they have won best graphics/visuals etc and Uncharted 3 is head and shoulders above anything else (maybe Last of Us comes close but still a ND game) on that generation. U4 again sets the benchmark for this gen in my opinion too.
So we can get the free skins between now till 19th December? Do you have to play matches to get them?
Really wanna run through 3&4 again. Such a joyride.
Another shout out for how wonderful lost legacy is. Its just awesome. For me it was the Uncharted I enjoyed the most after the peerless uncharted 2. And photo mode got abused mercilessly.
It's been 10 years already? Time flies so fast. Uncharted is one of the reason ps3 is my favorite console on previous gen.
@kyleforrester87 Unpopular indeed. Thanks for your clever incite.
@get2sammyb The puzzles are acceptable. I wish they were a bit more integrated in the environment though, and a bit more realistic instead of ''here's a weird contraption that doesn't follow physics and was built several hundred years ago for no apparent reason at all, but it's here, so good luck!''
I've been a fan of the series ever since I tried out the first game way back in 2012 I believe?
Looking forward to picking up Uncharted 4 for $20 New during Black Friday, only Uncharted game I'm missing.
I think I'll celebrate this occasion by buying Lost Legacy.
It's crazy to think the series is ten years old.
I enjoy the series, even though I will admit it's not my favorite PlayStation franchise and at times I feel it's slightly overrated, I do love the games. Thief's End was the only game that disappointed me, but that's still an 8 or 9 outta ten game, if you ask me.
I guess I should replay the PS3 games again soon after I finish my current run of U4. Maybe change back my PSN avatar to Drake, whatever. It's celebration time!
It's not like I think the games are awful or anything, they just annoy me for lots of reasons.
I've said loads of times but I'd love ND to do a sci-fi linear adventure game.
I never had a PS3, so I got my introduction to the Uncharted series 'late' through the Nathan Drake Collection that came with my PS4. Great games, these. I'm currently on my first play through of Uncharted 3, and thoroughly enjoying it.
I didn't get Uncharted 1 until a couple months after its initial release, but it was easily one of my favorite early PS3 games and at the time was a huge step up from other games in story telling while also being fun to play (minus a few segments like the jet ski level at the end). Since then the series has improved massively over 10 years, and is easily one of my favorites of all-time.
Crazy how time flies by.
Uncharted was my first PS3 game and my first plat. I have played them all and platted the PS3 games so you know how invested I am.
With the fact that my bro will ALWAYS default to U3 for our couch co op, it means Drake and his company of thieves will be with me forever.
Digging that theme.
@sinalefa I have the platinums for the first 3 games as well, and those are some of my favorite platinums I've achieved. I plan on rounding out the series by platinuming Thief's End and Lost Legacy, but it'll be a while before I get to that.
Well done for Uncharted great series.
Almost as good as Need for speed payback.
@DerMeister
Very good. I feel those plats are way harder without a guide. Havent tried their Crushing mode either. Some parts of LL on Hard really tested me.
Good luck though!
I would probably say the series is my favorite gaming series as a whole. Having played them all (yes, even the Golden Abyss that everyone forgets about) I’d say that there’s not a bad one in the bunch and the quality has been consistent imo. Not many series can say that. Most series that go at least 4 or 5 games will lay an egg eventually.
And not to mention, Uncharted is The Last of Us’s big brother.
Nate is a mass murder who needs to be locked up and given The death penalty.
@kyleforrester87 What if it's Uncharted set in space and Nathan Drake goes to the moon to find a buried treasure?
Many people said that Uncharted saved PS3 on the last generation, can't deny that Sony exclusives were really important already that time. Uncharted is really special for me, also a huge fan of ND.
@get2sammyb The people that complained about the "lack of gameplay" on Uncharted 4 never played the game on the first place.
@Th3solution
Easily one of the most consistent game series out there, for sure. I would say the one that disappointed me the most was 3. Yet I'd still rate it no lower than an 8/10 and upon its release in 2011 it was still a top 10 (maybe top 5) for that year.
@PS_Nation
I wouldn't say there's a lack of gameplay in Uncharted 4, but it certainly didn't have as much action as previous entries in the series and there were a bit too many instances of walking around and not doing much. Still an excellent game and I thought the whole 'crate simulator' complaint was a bit overblown but it wasn't without merit either. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy was actually much more what I wanted out of 4 from a gameplay perspective. Perfect balance of combat, platforming and puzzles and it was paced brilliantly. Also has some of the series' best moments.
@WanderingBullet I'd buy that 0
@MadAussieBloke Exactly!
@get2sammyb Hey Sammy, I want to point out that you have a pretty big typo in the availability window of the free theme here - it's available from November 19th-21st, not December (the confusion seems to be coming from the skins pack, which is available for a full month instead of the 48 hours of the theme). From the source articles:
"We’ve also teamed up with PlayStation to create and release a new Uncharted 10th Anniversary PS4 system theme and profile avatar, which will be available for free for 48 hours — from Sunday, 19th November at 4PM GMT/5PM CET until 4PM GMT/5PM CET, Tuesday, 21st November. During this period, other select Uncharted PS4 system themes and avatars will also be free. Visit PlayStation Store and look for an 'Uncharted 10th Anniversary Bundle.' Don’t miss it.
For our multiplayer fans, from today until 19th December, we’re giving away an Uncharted 10th Anniversary character skin bundle in Uncharted 4 and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy multiplayer, which includes some classic skins for Nate, Elena, and Sully. We’re also hosting a 50% off sale on all Uncharted Point and Relic items until 19th December."
