Every year, Sony hosts an event named the PlayStation Awards in Japan. The ceremony is designed to celebrate all of the titles that have performed well on its platforms in Asia, with gongs handed out to titles that have crossed a specific sales threshold. It’s basically just a big knees up where the platform holder can say thank you for supporting its systems.
And this year, the Double Platinum Prize winner was… Microsoft. As you can probably guess, Minecraft has proven a gigantic hit in Asia, and the PlayStation edition is very popular. In fact, the PS Vita version surpassed one million units in Japan alone. Elsewhere, winners of the Platinum Prize included Dragon Quest XI, Final Fantasy XV, and Grand Theft Auto V.
All of the winners, as compiled by Gematsu, are included below:
Double Platinum Prize
Software titles with an accumulated shipment quantity (including download quantity) of over two million copies.

Indie & Developer Award
Three titles that have contributed to the expansion PlayStation were awarded. (Released between October 1, 2016 and September 30, 2017, excluding last year’s winning titles.)
- 3on3 FreeStyle (Joycity Games)
- Touhou Genso Wanderer: Reloaded (Aqua Style)
- Undertale (Toby Fox)
It’s really nice to see the likes of NieR: Automata and Yakuza 6 faring well, proving that there’s still very much a market for domestic console games in Asia. Also, it’s great to see Undertale represented in the indie segment – it seems 8-4 did an amazing job localising the title for release in the East. It’ll be interesting to see how Monster Hunter World fares at next year’s ceremony, won't it?

Congrats to microsoft
Also I'm glad there's a lot of japanese games that got platinum and gold award.
technically, the playstation versions of minecraft were developed by 4Jstudios and published by sony.
Ugh, enough with Minecraft, so many better games were released recently.
Well that's gotta be the only thing they win lol
If memory serves, only one title earned a platinum prize on ps3 and that was Final Fantasy XIII. So that's quite the achievement for ps4.
Dragon Quest Builders > Minecraft
3on3 Freestyle got an award? Well, that was unexpected. Might give the game another try someday.
Just buy Mojang for a billion or so, and Sony gives ya an award for selling Mojang’s game. There ya go.
What a twist!
@Enuo Dragon Quest Builders >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Minecraft.
Dragon Quest Builders 2 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Minecraft
Not the first time they've claimed the rewards for someone else's work.
Even so, personally, Minecraft has never held any appeal for me.
I'm mother a MineCraft fan and never will be, but this hate is ridiculous. They won. And nothing KS gonna change that.
@Flaming_Kaiser but that game really and mainly appeals to Dragon Quest fans.
