Assassin's Creed Rogue launched in late 2014, but despite the PlayStation 4 being a year old at that time, the swashbuckling adventure didn't make the jump to the next-gen console. Instead, it sat quietly on the PlayStation 3 as Sony's newer system received the shoddy Assassin's Creed Unity. In hindsight, that was a bit of a fumble on Ubisoft's part.
Rogue never actually made it to the PS4, even though it was long rumoured that a port was being prepared. The title is a lot like Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, with a focus on naval exploration and combat. It's one of the smaller games in the series in terms of scale, but it's got a decent story and some good characters.
Anyway, the rumours have started up again a whole three years later. Several Italian retailers have Assassin's Creed Rogue HD for PS4 listed on their websites, complete with an 18th March, 2018 release date. Games are often leaked in such a way, and with multiple sites listing the same product and date, the remaster is looking plausible.
Still, it's a bit late, isn't it? We're sure Rogue remains a fine game, but after playing Assassin's Creed Origins, we're not sure we want to go back.

Guessing that Origins sold well and they are thinking they might get some leverage with a quick ole re-release.
@Rudy_Manchego That's what I was thinking. Ubisoft cashing in while Ass Creed has a lot of positivity attached to it.
to be fair it wasn't a bad game, i had it on the 360 but got rid of it after my 360 died so i would be up for a HD remaster over re-buying the 360 version to use on my XB1
About time.
This is good news. I have been dreaming n dreaming for a black flag sequel for the longest and i heard this is the closest thing we have. It seems like Ubisoft is releasing remasters to make up for the year off of AC. Didn't they release ezio collection last year? So they might take 2018 off but release this to make up for it, idk time will tell
Kind of wish AC3 would get an HD release similar to the Ezio Collection. I really liked it, I'm just too lazy to start up my PS3 to play it.
That and I'm enjoying the hell out of Origins, but that's besides the point.
I'm not expecting a new AC game until 2019, so it seems like as good a time as any to port this.
I found ac:rogue one of my least favorite ac games so not interested to beeing disapointed in hd
@ShogunRok Yeah, especially if they are moving away from annual releases for AC (which I hope is the case).
@Deadlyblack couldn't agree more
Never played the game because at that point I had pretty much moved on from PS3. If it finally gets a PS4 port, I'll more than likely buy it because the story does seem like one of the more interesting ones in the AC cannon.
Finally! I wanted this on release but wanted to wait for it to be released on PS4. What took them so long?
Maybe if it's at a bargin price, but I won't pay $60 for a 3 year old game.
I loved Black Flag but never played Rogue as I was mostly only playing PS4 games by that point. If it gets a PS4 release though I'd more than likely buy it, as long as it's at a decent price.
This is great news, though I hope them skipping AC3 doesn't mean it'll never get a PS4 port or remaster.
