The world has been ravaged by a spate of natural disasters in recent weeks, and Sony is extending the PlayStation Plus subscriptions of those affected for free. Reports coming out of Texas and Florida reveal that the platform holder is adding a month of free service to users' accounts, making up for any lost gaming time inflicted by the devastating weather.
It’s a small token considering the scale of the destruction that the likes of Harvey and Irma caused, but it’s still a heart-warming gesture all the same. If your account is registered to an affected area then perhaps check your emails to confirm if your membership has been extended – and we wish you all the best getting back on your feet.

There's also a theme selling on PS Store, where you choose how much you wanna pay and the money goes for those in need. =)
Yep, here it is:
Hi DiddyWaDiddy,
We recognize many members of the PlayStation community have been affected by recent natural disasters. We have extended your current PlayStation™Plus membership by 1-Month.
If you have any issues, please call, chat, or tweet us at 1-800-345-7669, playstation.com, or @askplaystation.
Sincerely,
PlayStation Team
Yep, I got one too. I survived hurricane María here on Puerto Rico, good to see its not just for Florida and Texas.
A nice gesture by Sony. It’s a good look when companies show a little interest in connecting with their consumers with some good will. I’m sure this is a drop in the bucket for the victims but I can appreciate any small attempt. kudos to the company for trying.
@RicoLico @DiddyWahDiddy All the best guys!
Thanks, @get2sammyb . My neighborhood actually did really well with no flooding, but we were the lucky few.
That's a good corporate gesture by Sony. All the best to you @RicoLico and @DiddyWahDiddy, I know how it is to be weary of being hit by a storm. I'm from Barbados and even though we've been fortunate to have been spared major damage, we must always remain prepared for anything.
Bravo Sony they did not have to do this....the fact they did makes me happy I just hope the people that were affected are getting back to some sort of normality my thoughts go out to you.
@get2sammyb Thank you, I got lucky just like @DiddyWahDiddy since I'm one of the 18% who has electricity on the whole island. But that doesn't mean I haven't suffered the consequences of the hurricane I was out of power for 2 months and out of water for a month.
@Turismo4GT Thanks, same goes to you.
If they wanted t make a difference they would be donating money not an extension on PS subscriptions. Feels like a cheap publicity stunt to me.
@dryrain I feel that way too, there's better ways to help then a subscription.
Yea I went through this in texas. I got the email for an added month to my sub. I really do appreciate it. On the flip side MS hasn't did anything. Big ups to Sony for this.
This is a nice small gesture, would have been a lot easier to do nothing so I can't fault them.
