The 200th edition of WAYP has been postponed for a week while we return for our sixth annual Christmas special. The format’s exactly the same, of course, we’ve just added some tinsel to the page. In fact, we haven’t even bothered doing that – you’ll have to use your imagination. Nevertheless, here’s what we’re playing this holiday.

I’m having a topsy-turvy ride with Persona 5 so far. There are times where I really love it, and I do truly believe that there’s some good writing and gameplay in this behemoth JRPG. But I also genuinely feel the title is bloated beyond comprehension, and that really frustrates me. I want to continue soldiering on because I am enjoying the main thrust of the story, but I’m not sure how much longer I’m going to be able to tolerate the title wasting my time.

Wow, it's the weekend before Christmas already? I can't think of a better time to play some games. And by games, I mean Dragon's Dogma, because everyone knows I haven't played enough of that in 2017.

Despite the holiday weekend, there are still a few unlocks I wanna try for in Rainbow Six. I mostly skipped out on the Christmas challenges last year, and I want to rectify that. Plus, being at my parents for Christmas means I actually have enough room to play some of my VR titles I've had on the backburner 'cos I had no room. So I can finally dive into Mortal Blitz, Special Delivery, and on the more recent side, DOOM VFR. And I've only played one episode of the new Life is Strange so far. I've got my work cut out for me!

Since I’m at home alone this holiday season, I thought I’d treat myself to an early Christmas present: I bought myself a PlayStation VR headset (the new upgraded model, even) with Skyrim VR. It’s highly unlikely that I will be doing anything else all weekend, frankly, but on the off chance I get bored in the land of the Nords, there’s a welcome sale on VR titles on the PlayStation Store right now. Needless to say, my weekend is well and truly covered.

It's going to be a busy incoming week full of cheer. I'm heading down to Georgia to visit relatives over the weekend for Christmas, celebrating the holiday again when my family and I get back, and then I'm off to Virginia to hang with some friends next Friday. In the meantime, I'm going to finally play through Star Wars: Battlefront II'scampaign and try to jump back into Horizon: Zero Dawn. Other than that, hope y'all have a wonderful Christmas!

I'm not sure I'll be spending a great deal of time gaming this weekend, as I've left myself a lot to do in preparation for Christmas, but Stardew Valley is definitely at the back of my mind. If I get a spare moment between wrapping gifts, I'll definitely be jumping back into the chilled out farming sim for a spot of plant watering action. I'm sure I'll be playing a couple of other games over the Christmas break too, if I'm lucky. I hope everyone has a great holiday, and a smashing New Year!

First off a happy holidays to everyone reading this. With that said with wrapping gifts, picking up cranky family members at the airport, and preparing a turkey for the holiday feast, I won't get too much time gaming this weekend. If I do it will probably be Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the Switch 'cos hey, if I can't throw a Blue Shell at some annoying family member in real life, I can in game, right? That's what the holidays are all about.
What games are you playing over the Christmas holidays? Have you started up something new, or are you working through your backlog? Let us know in the comments section below.

Trying out the MH World demo. It's fun.
I'll also be working on Danganronpa V3 on the Vita.
Destroy all Humans and AC Origins.
Diablo 3 on PC all of a sudden I'm addicted to it again, a bit of titanfall 2 and frontia defence mode. Really need to start Horizon Zero Dawn but that needs nice long play times to get into the story which I will be playing day tomorrow. Got a load of backlog games I don't think I'll ever get to play right now bought Witcher 3 GOTY 4 months ago still haven't started it because if my back log. Game buying is on hold now thou
Finally start playing horizon zero dawn + frozen wild, bought the special edition when it launch (region 3) but bought and play the digital version (region 1) because it's discounted on psn. I'm beginning to think buying the digital version is more convenient than buying special edition
Plan to buy gts because the single player patch has arrived and it's discounted on psn us
@Ralizah I forgot there's second beta for monhun, I have to play that first
Xenoblade 2
Happy Holidays to all
otherwise shopping for stuff that ain’t game related
Uncharted Lost Legacy and Street Fighter V. I’ll be getting some new PS4 games, but I won’t have time to play those. Happy Holidays!!!
Panzer Dragoon and Christmas NiGHTS, but with only the standard Saturn controller unfortunately, since my 3D controller seems to no longer work.
Happy holidays everyone!
PS4: Yooka-Laylee
PSVR: SkyrimVR
PSVita: MGS2
Wii: Just Dance 2018
I started up Yooka-Laylee on PS4. Genuinely can't believe how much fun I'm having! I've spend near 6 hours on the first world. Don't get the 68 on metacritic. Absolute steal for £10.
I'll also be continuing my adventures in SkyrimVR and MGS2 (just got Emma).
Also Xmas is the one time of the year the Wii sees some use. Will boogie the night away in a drunken trance with some family and friends, courtesy of Just Dance 2018 .
Having finished Assassin's Creed Origins - which was excellent - I'm going to spend the weekend playing Pokémon Moon and Super Mario 3D World.
I probably won't game on Christmas or Boxing Day. Maybe some drunken Tekken 3.
If it's Xmas day, hopefully a good bit of Drawful 2, great party game, everyone enjoys that.
Having finished and loved the main story of RE7 a couple days ago, I'm now working my way through the DLC. I also started Star Ocean: The Last Hope remaster last night, which I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into some more.
Other than those I'll also be carrying on with my daily bout of the ESO event.
AC Origins, gonna kill the 2 gods that I wasn't able to kill when they were first rolled out, and do some side quests. I am really loving origins, can't wait for the dlc, im hoping it is a challenge.
And Okami, all I can say so far is wow, how did I miss this on ps2?
Won't get too much gaming in over Chrimbo but I will more than likely continue with the single player content of Destiny 2, play some Snes games on the mini and hope to finish Mario Odyssey. Then after Christmas I am going to start The Witcher 3!
I'll be trying to get a turkey, not to eat for festive dinner, I'm talking about the bowling challenge in Yakuza 0.
@Kidfried Yes, I'm all new to Metal Gear. MGS1 blew me away !
I'm stumbling & bumbling my way through MGS2, but I'm really enjoying it.
Enjoy Gravity Rush 2!
@Fight_Teza_Fight Got to love MGS. My advice is play 1, 2, 3, 4. And skip the rest for the best story and experience.
Hoping to get Wolfenstien over Christmas and a new hard drive as mine is full. Then I’ll download uncharted the lost legacy
Still Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
AC Origins and Horizon
Persona 5, just completed the fourth palace and this game just keeps on getting better and better the more I play it, I'm struggling to put it down! I'm probably just past the halfway mark I reckon, so I've still got a considerable amount left, I just hope the rest of the game lives up to the benchmark the first half has set it
Whatever I get for Chrimbo! Ive been a good boy so Im hoping for psvr, loads of games and a win on the lottery.
Gonna try and crank on games I’ve backlogged for too long this Christmas. Persona 5, Super Mario Odyessy, Prey, Nier: Automata, and Crash.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and maybe AC Origins.
At home I'll be playing AC Origins & FIFA 18. When I go to stay with my family for a few days I'll be taking my Switch, which means more Mario & Zelda goodness.
Merry Christmas everyone!
I finished the excellent Wolfenstein 2 so have just started MineCraft Story Mode Season 2 so that will be getting alot of attention plus I'm still playing Super Mario Odyssey and I Am Setsuna on the Switch.
The most fun I'm having however is Shooty Fruity for the PSVR..I nearly held off after that review but luckily I gave in...cuz its awesome!
To all Push Square staff and members,Merry Christmas!
Xenoblade 2 and whatever Santa brings me
I’m traveling for Christmas so I’m isolated from my PS4. But that means ... Vita time! This will be a good chance to work on my Vita backlog which, although not as voluminous as my PS4 backlog, is still substantial. First order of business is Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls, which I am liking much more than I expected. I just love this series. Next will be Danganronpa V3. I might need to break up the Monokuma madness with something else so I may try Severed, or Sly Cooper, or even Freedom Wars if I get over adventurous.
I finally got the Dark Souls II platinum in midweek, so I might see what I get for Christmas before I decide what to play next. Until then, if I get any gaming in at all, it will involve trying to create bizarre festive cross-breed Nightopians in Christmas NiGHTS. 'Tis the season!
I've just gone back to Far Cry 2 on PS3. Haven't played it in years and never did finish it, so I've gone back to it to complete the story at least. There were 6 years and 15 days between trophies.
Watch Dogs 2, finally getting to that game. And some AC Origins. I promised myself that I'd beat a game over this next week...I need to find a short game...
I’ve not played anything for a while but I believe my wife has got me uncharted and nier for Christmas so I’ll get stuck into them 😬
FF 15 , GT Sport and I think my wife might have got me Uncharted Lost Legacy ...
I just got the platinum for crash bandicoot warped. So I'll try to play aeterno blade and back to the future.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!!!!
Enjoyed the Monster Hunter World beta yesterday. I'm visiting people over the holiday period, so gaming will have to be Pokemon Ultra Sun and whatever else is on my 3DS backlog.
Well I just crumbled and bought a PSVR, so I’ll be spending Christmas ignoring my friend and relatives in favour of shooting bad guys and ogling wildlife. Much like every Christmas really.
Binding of Isaac, the game that keeps on giving. Trying to beat Mutant mudds on switch, but it keeps moving the goalposts and i hate that.
"Beat all stages. Now get all coins. Now get all secret sprites".
Fot couch co op it will be Mother Russia Bleeds. Happy holidays to all who read this!
Well hopefully I'll be getting Nier Automata and Batman: Return to Arkham for X-Mas. I did have Destiny 2 on my list as well but after the recent shenanigans it checked itself off the X-Mas list and Yakuza 0 has been checked in.
Merry Christmas, and happy holidays to everyone here!
For me, it's all about the RPGs. Getting through FFIX and Mass Effect. FFIX in particular is a game I'm having a hard time putting down.
I also plan on continuing Ocarina of Time 3D at some point. I took a small break because I got stuck, but that small break hasn't been so small.
I finally beat the story in Mario Odyssey, so I'll probably see what the post-game content is all about.
Other than that, I'm not sure. Probably won't do much gaming in general, since I'll be seeing family a lot for the next few days.
@DerMeister where you upto in 9?
I've been having some fun on PUBG with the new map and vaulting system, also R6 Siege and rocket league. I still have a strong feeling I'm getting a Switch for Christmas, so i'll probably be spending some time with that and xenoblade chronicles 2.
I'll be playing fifa and zelda on my new Switch had no PS4 yet as I'm on my Xmas leave and we've just moved so not been able to set it up. But I know Star Wars is under the tree! So it will be just Zelda atm with fifa when the baby let's me that is! Hopefully can sort PS4 out for Star wars and maybe something in the sales!
@kyleforrester87 I finished the second visit to Lindblum (after it gets attacked), so I'm directly after that. I'm about to head into Qu's Marsh again.
@DerMeister noice, love that bit.
Gonna start up Nier:Automate when I get home from visiting. Also I recently played through Persona 5 and I don’t really get all this talk about it being so long and bloated. It’s pretty tightly structured with a gameplay loop that repeats seven times or so. The only thing that feels remotely stretched out are the expositions happening at the beginning or ending of each chapter where you are locked out of any meaningful interaction for quite some time. Everything else is pretty tightly done. I finished in 125 hours with the true ending and I don’t think I did any grinding whatsoever. And once you finish the story there really is nothing more to do so for a jrpg it’s not really all that long. Just saying. (Although there are some stuff to do in new game+ that you might have missed in a first play through and some alternative choices you can make regarding confidants for different cut scenes.)
@PostmanPatinator
Enjoy your new console!
Change of plans for me. I finally received Taiko Drum Master on PS4 so I will be playing that.
Sammy finally got Persona 5. That's awesome. Have fun.
I'm playing Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Been at it since it released on the 1st and still having fun.
Whenever I have some time, I'm going to keep trying to progress in Dead Rising 4. I'm enjoying it, like I usually do with Dead Rising. Despite some minor things here and there that were changed from the earlier titles that I'm still not used to, I'm having a good ol' time.
That and I'm getting a retro itch to play one out of the three Resident Evil PS1 games. That or Super Metroid.
I've been playing Rocket League again.. A LOT, for the past few weeks. Trying to finish off Origins at the same time too. Also went back to BF1 tonight for the first time in months. Good to be back.
Been playing okami HD, along with some pubg. Need to pull the trigger on horizon zero dawn complete edition. Anyone know if the content is on the disc?
I'm still playing Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (PS4), planning to beat the story before Christmas Day and then go back to Ratchet & Clank (PS4).
Crasha Bandicoot on PS4
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker on PSV
I was planning to play some GT Sport but their server has been down for over 12 hours , with no mention of server maintenance on their website. So I'm not happy at all with the game.
What I'm actually playing is MotoGP 17, Yakuza 0 and some Star Ocean.
@adf86 Yakuza 0 for Destiny 2?- that's a pretty good trade off! Won't regret it. There's so much content and none behind a paywall.
@themcnoisy I'll be interested to hear what your first game will be. Mine was Thumper, which I played for over an hour with the headset on BEFORE I realized there was an actual VR mode I had to select in the menu.
Rez Infinite man. Get on it!
Just got back into Warframe after a few years away. Absolutely loved the game before but now it's just on a whole new level, and I've been really enjoying exploring all of the new features!
Santa gave me South Park so that's what I'm going to play when my kids are a sleep.
Happy Christmas everyone!
Probably lots of Vita action while I digest food near the fire! Thinking of starting a Final Fantasy (probably IV), some Darkest Dungeon and some Trails in the Sky SC to finally finish that damn game off.
On the PS4 front wont be playing too much as I’ve left my 32” tv in my flat and all I could find at home was a 19” one which looks tiny now, might try to finish off Hellblade which has been brilliant. I’ve officially given up on AC: Origins, just wasn’t doing it for me unfortunately although I could see how it’s improved in a lot of areas.
Merry Christmas everybody! I started the Witcher around 4 weeks ago and think I'm only scratching the surface. So that'll be my Xmas binge, along with titanfall 2 on PS4 pro. And thanks to those damn Xmas sales (!!) on PSN bought persona 4 dancing all night long and odin sphere for ps vita. Happy days.
@Fight_Teza_Fight Im thinking Rush of blood or Rigs.
@Fight_Teza_Fight Well I liked Destiny 1 (despite obvious flaws) and will want to play 2 eventually but with the stuff going on with it just doesn't seem worth getting yet. And while I've had an eye on the Yakuza series it wasn't top of my wanted list but with everything I'm hearing about Zero been the best entry point in the series I figured now was the time.
Finished Assassin's Creed Origins last night, so I'll have to see what Father Chrimble brings tomorrow.
PS4-Life Is Strange Before The Storm- And just like its predecessor the game is amazing.
Actually went nuts and bought quite a few games. Tumblestone, Horizon, Mortal Kombat XL, Lego City Undercover, Lego Dimensions, Lego Harry Potter Collection and also quite a few from the massive store sale! Also bought Mario Kart 8, Sonic Forces and Puyo Puyo Tetris on Switch, as well as re-purchasing (after having to get rid of them to help pay for bills from my wife's kidney transplant) a 360 system with games, a Wii U with games for that and Wii and a PS2 with a bunch of games. Now, if I can only find a good deal on a PS3 and a 2TB internal hard drive, I'll be all set!
Nioh: Complete Edition.
And later going to play some Super Mario World.
Gran Turismo 4 on my PS3 and Terraria on my Vita, interspersed with Destiny on my PS4 pro (as I'm a sucker for shooting Vex in the juicebox and Hive between the eye...)
GtSport and I'm trying to complete RE7. Some very scary parts in RE7 👻
@Renandstimpeygti
You must have a phat ps3 if you're playing GT4 on it.
@Mart1ndo_ hell yeah, still kicking but I don't use it very often. Only for gt4 really...love that game 😀
