Yep, Dark Souls Remastered is indeed real, and it's coming to PlayStation 4 this summer. Still considered to be the best title in the Souls series by many, the original adventure will have its resolution bumped up to 1080p. On PS4 Pro, it'll support 4K at 60 frames per second. The press release doesn't mention whether the game will run at 60fps on the standard PS4 as well, but we're assuming that it will.
The remaster brings death and dark fantasy to Sony's current-gen system on the 25th May. Will you be lighting a bonfire in preparation? Carefully time your attacks in the comments section below.
Update: Bandai Namco has confirmed that the remaster will run at 60fps on both the regular PS4 and the PS4 Pro.

Praise the sun!
o/ - His arm's off but he's trying his best.
Yes. Now to finish Bloodborne before then.
YES
This spring...
@YummyHappyPills I can see it but I can see Nintendo making money on Joy-Con sales... why cus people are gonna break those things in anger
60fps is interesting, since important game mechanics are related to frames, dodging specifically. I seem to recall that previously 60fps caused a stealth nerf? Will have to reread later.
@YummyHappyPills Yeah, it's not like Bandai Namco didn't send us a press release for the PS4 version or anything.
Thanks Nintendo!
@YummyHappyPills I ain't laughing
Good stuff. Now I can give Dark Souls 1 a try. I've played everything else from Demon Souls to Dark Souls 3 in the series, but not the first.
YES! YES! YES! Now to have my wife do a blind playthrough
Really excited to play this on Switch! The original is probably my favorite of the FromSoft games I've played.
Praise the Sun!!! Bloodborne is one of my favourite games of all time and I thought DS3 was good, can't wait for this!! Never really played my ps3 much so missed tge original. Interesting to see if switch will have 6 concurrent players like ps4. Souls on the go might be the thing that convinces me to get a switch
I might give it a try. I know I would love these games if I didn't suck at them.
So it's just a bump in the resolution? Not sure if I'll spend money on it then :S
@Bliquid Sony fandom believes in such a thing as a "mild Nintendo fanboy"? XD
Updated the article, 60fps is confirmed on standard PS4 and Pro.
@Athrum See above comment just in case.
Now all I need is a Demon's souls remaster and my life is complete.
'Be wary of troll.'
@YummyHappyPills Tough crowd...
Praise the (word up) sun
Will the textures be of a higher resolution, or will we be playing a muddy mess?
Wow, 60 fps, thank you very much
Well thats me off to pre-order Dark Souls Remastered then 😁
Can we assume the old PS3 DLC is included?
I may get this... if I can finish Bloodborne before this comes out.
Dear God this is going to look glorious running on the ds3 engine. It's still the best in the series far as I'm concerned, and should offer a decent bump in online players, meaning we can play it the way FROMSOFT intended.
Honestly, this is the title I'm most excited about playing this year now. Hundreds of hours getting sunk into it.
@Johnnycide But will it really run in the DS3 engine? Wouldn't that make it a Remake and not a Remaster?
I would prefer Demon's Souls to be honest...
@GamerDad66 Just got an e-mail from Bandai: DLC will be included. It seems they will remaster the "Prepare to die" edition.
@b1ackjack_ps God I hope your right
@PS_Nation i second that.
I was hoping to get this on Switch and all (because I just prefer it as a console), but 60 FPS wins me over this time. Seriously that should be a prerequisite on all action games.
@Athrum Number of on-line players has been increased. Google it.
@TomKnows uh??
My god, I have a new 'most anticipated game' for 2018....to say I am excited is an understatement, cannot wait!!!!
PS4 or Switch?
Both.
I'm getting both.
@Deadlyblack DeSo actually is the first, not Dark Souls. And if you played DeSo, you played the best one.
@Constable_What I had the same thought! lol
Next thing they'll do is remaster games from the start of this gen like Killzone and such lul
@doctommaso That is a good point. Been such a long time since I've played Demon Souls.
